1. INTRODUCTION
Greetings from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal to all candidates who have appeared
for Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2018.
We welcome all successful candidates for BTech Common Counseling 2018. All the candidates are requested
to read the instructions carefully, before participating in the counseling process.

1.2 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can participate in the 2018 counseling process
Candidate should have MET 2018 rank
Candidate should have passed in 10+2 / A Level / International Baccalaureate (IB) / American 12th grade
o r equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory
subjects.
Candidate should have minimum aggregate marks of 50 % in Physics, Mathematics and one of the
optional subjects (as mentioned 1.2.1) . In each of these subjects, candidates should have scored at least
minimum marks prescribed by the board
Candidates have appeared for 10+2 / A Level / IB / American 12th grade or Equivalent board
examination and are awaiting their results, are also eligible for the counseling provided they fulfill the
above criteria when their result are declared. Results should be made available to us, on or before 10 June,
2018.
Note: If a candidate fails in one / more than one subject in 10+2 / A Level / IB / American 12th grade or
equivalent, he / she is NOT eligible to participate in the counseling. Allotted Seats to students awaiting their
results, will be cancelled immediately if they do not fulfill the above eligibility criteria.

For Candidates who possess a Senior Secondary Certificate from any Foreign Board/University and seek
admission are required to attach a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect
that the examination passed is equivalent to the Indian Senior Secondary Examination.

1.3 Counseling
1.3.1 Counseling Location
The candidates are required to report to any one of the counseling centers as per the counseling schedule mentioned in 1.3.2. For the first round of counseling, there will be four centers viz. Manipal, Sikkim, Jaipur and Hyderabad. The center addresses are given below.

2. LIST OF DOCUMENTS
The following is the list of documents required for the document verification process during counseling.

*If original eligibility document is not available, candidates can bring the internet copy of the marks card
duly attested by the college principal. (In case of internet copy of results, candidates are required to provide
the userid and password to verify the results online in website / portal of respective board).

Qualification obtained from Boards established by: (i) An Act of Central/State Government, (ii) A Gazette
Notification of Central/State Government, (iii) Executive orders issued by Central/State Government are only
considered.

Students awaiting the results, must upload the internet copy of the marks card duly attested by the college
principal on or before 10 June 2018 under counseling.manipal.edu, failing which (a) allotted seat will be
cancelled (b) will be out of counseling and permitted to enter only in the 5th round.
3. COUNSELING PROCEDURE
There are seven rounds of counseling, including one Intra-Institute Sliding and one Spot Round (refer Table 2
above). The first round, intra-institute sliding and spot round are physical rounds whereas rest of the rounds
are online. Depending on the vacancy, an additional round of counseling may be conducted after the Spot round.
3.1 First round of counseling (28th May - 6th June 2018): Physical round
Registration
The physical presence of the candidate at the counselling is mandatory. If a candidate is unable to be physically
present for the counselling due to unavoidable circumstances, he / she may authorize another individual to
represent him / her at the counselling. The authorized representative must carry the letter of authorization
and all the documents mentioned under Table 3. Candidate/Authorization person should be physically present
at the time of counseling venue and fill in the registration form at the Waiting Hall. This registration will be
valid for the first 5 rounds of counseling.
Document Verification
You should produce the documents for verification (Table 3) along with one set of self-attested photocopies
and 2 recent passport size photographs. The original documents will be given back to you after the verification.
(In case of internet copy of result, you are required to provide the userid and password to verify the results
online in website / portal of respective board)
Fee Payment
The 1st instalment Course fee of Rs 3,05,000/- is to be paid by submitting TWO separate account payee demand
drafts (DD) for Rs. 2,95,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- in favor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education payable at
Manipal or Udupi, irrespective of choice of campus made.
Seat Allotment
Seat will be allotted as per MET 2018 Rank and subject to seat availability. On seat allotment, both the DD’s
(Rs. 2,95,000/- and Rs. 10,000/-) must be submitted irrespective of the Scholarship eligibility.
Provisional Admission order and receipt/s for the payment made will be given to the candidate on completion
of the admission process. Candidates who require hostel facility should contact the Chief Warden’s Office of
the allotted institution for hostel enrollment. Candidates should report to the allotted college on or before the
Reporting date mentioned in the Provisional Admission order.

Note:
Mere inclusion in the merit list and call for counselling does not guarantee allotment of Seat. This will exclusively
depend on the candidates all India rank, the number of candidates attending the counselling, their choice of course /
institution and the number of seats available.
Waitlist
The following candidates are eligible for waitlist
(i) Registered candidates who have taken / got a seat in first round and wish to participate in subsequent
rounds of counseling
(ii) Registered candidates who have not taken / got the seat in the first round
Note: Candidate cannot opt to waitlist for a branch that is currently available for selection at the time of seat
allotment, on the day of counseling. For example, if seat(s) in BTech Computer Science at MIT Manipal are
available, Candidate CANNOT waitlist BTech Computer Science at MIT Manipal at the time of seat allotment,
on the day of counseling. Waitlisting is only possible after all seats in the branch of interest, are NOT available
for selection at the time of seat allotment, on the day of counseling.
Waitlist Procedure
(i) The wait listing process for 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds is online and is only for candidates who have physically
visited the campus and registered for the 1st round.
(ii) Candidates who have taken / got a seat in first round and wish to participate in subsequent round(s) of
counseling, can opt for waitlist without additional payment
(iii) First round registered candidates who have not taken / got the seat in the first round, can opt for waitlist
with DD payment of Rs.10,000/- as waitlist fee. This waitlist fees will be refunded, in case the candidate is
not allotted any seat, after completion of all rounds of Counseling
(iv) Arrangements will be made at the Counseling centers, for the candidates to fill up the online form by
giving choices as per their order of campus / branch preference
(v) For online waitlisting, Candidates must login to https://counseling.manipal.edu with Application number
as login ID and OTBS password as password. The candidate can fill in as many choices as possible from the
list as per preference and must click on SAVE / UPDATE button. Candidates are requested not to fill in
the choices of branches / institutes in which they are not interested
(vi) Candidates have to submit their Bank Details (Name of the account holder, A/c Number, Bank Name,
Branch Address and IFSC code) in the column provided, online. The site is Safe and Secure. These details
will be used for the refund, if any
(vii) If the candidate forgets the password, click on “forgot password” to receive the password via SMS and

If original eligibility document is not available, candidates can bring the marks card issued by the college
principal, duly attested. If result is awaited, candidates are required to submit a letter from the college
principal stating that the Board result is yet to be announced.

3.2 Second, Third and Fourth Round of Seat Allotments (14 June - 03 July 2018): Online
The following first round registered candidates are eligible for second, third and fourth round of counseling
First round registered candidates who have secured a seat (admitted candidates) and willing to participate
in the next round(s)
First round registered Candidates who have not secured a seat (waitlisted candidates) and willing to
participate in the next round(s)
3.2.1 Filling / Modifying Filled Choices
Eligible Candidates can fill / modify and save their choices in the order of their preferences, any number of
times during the registration period for the particular round at https://counseling.manipal.edu (Use
application number as login ID and OTBS password as password).
Candidates are advised to lock their choices before the deadline and take the printout of their choices for
reference. If a candidate fails to lock the choices within the stipulated time, last saved choices will be
automatically locked after the deadline
Once locked, the choices made cannot be modified, before / after the deadline for that particular round
Candidates are advised to fill in the choices (institutes and branches) of their interest only. Once the seat
is allotted as per their choice irrespective of the preferential order (higher or lower), candidates have to
accept the seat and complete the admission formalities
If the admitted candidate rejects the allotted seat, they are required to complete the withdrawal process
and fee will be refunded as per refund policy.
If the waitlisted candidates rejects the allotted seat, they are out of the counseling process and will forfeit
the waitlist fee of Rs.10,000.
On rejection of allotted seat (by Admitted / Waitlisted candidates), Re-entry is possible only in the Spot
round
3.3 Fifth round of seat allotment (13-21 July 2018): Online
The following candidates are eligible for fifth round of counselling
Candidates who have not registered during the first round i.e; they are participating in the counseling for
the first time (New Registrants)

3.3.1 Registration process for the New registrants
Register online at https://counseling.manipal.edu (Use application number as login ID and OTBS password
as password)
The registration process involves three steps: filling the registration form, payment of wait-list fee, choice
filling and locking
3.3.2 Filling Registration form
Mention 10+2 Board name as given in the list of recognized boards.
If 10+2 Board marks are available, enter maximum marks, minimum marks, and marks secured in Physics,
Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects listed in section 1.2.1. The candidates are also required
to upload all the documents listed in Table 3 above, in the counseling portal. The uploaded documents will
be verified later.

Candidate can also provide additional e-mail id and / or mobile number.
Click “SAVE / UPDATE” to proceed to the next step
3.3.3 Payment of the wait-list fee
New Registrants must pay the waitlist fee of Rs. 10,000/- online. (Transaction charges to be borne by the
applicant)
After a successful payment of the wait-list fee, the candidates will be permitted to fill the choices as per
section 3.2.1
3.3.4 Choice filling / modifying by already registered candidates:
Already registered candidates need not pay the waitlist fee of Rs.10,000/-
The registered candidates can fill / modify the choices at https://counseling.manipal.edu
3.3.5 Fifth Round Seat Allotment
Seats will be allotted as per MET 2018 rank, choices provided and seat availability. The allotment status can
be checked online at https://counseling.manipal.edu as per schedule in Table 2.
On seat allotment, candidates will receive an email confirming the same
On seat allotment for new registrants, candidate has to pay Rs. 2,95,000/- (balance first year course fee) by:
o Option 1: Online Payment through https://counseling.manipal.edu to obtain the Provisional
Admission order instantly on successful transfer.
o Option 2: RTGS Payment in favour of “Manipal Academy of Higher Education” SB A/c 007201000089,
IFSC code ICIC0000072, Address: ICICI Bank, Manipal Branch, Kasturba Hospital Complex, Manipal,
Karnataka. Login to https://counseling.manipal.edu, click on “RTGS payment Details” to submit the
following details Payment Date, Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) Number, Account Holder’s Name
and Amount. Counter slip to be uploaded.
In case the transaction details is not entered by the candidate in candidate portal as mentioned, it
will be deemed to be interpreted that the payment has not been made and hence the seat will be
liable for re-allotment in the subsequent round. The candidate will be out-of-the-counseling process
and also forfeit the waitlist fee of Rs.10,000.
Note
On payment of the course fee, the candidate can then download the Provisional Admission Order from the
candidate portal.
If / when the seat gets allotted/upgraded, candidates can download the provisional admission order of the
allotted/upgraded seat from the candidates’ portal.
If the candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted and do not want to participate in the counseling anymore,
they have to opt out from the counseling. To opt out, the candidate must login to the candidates’ portal
https://counseling.manipal.edu and click on “OPT OUT” button. If the candidate does not opt out, the seat
will be upgraded as per the vacancy and choices given. If the candidate wants to participate in the next round
of counseling, he / she can login to the candidate portal and modify the choices, and click on SAVE / UPDATE
button and MUST lock the choices. If a candidate does not modify his / her choices, then the choices given
in the previous round will be considered for the next round of seat allotment.
When the seat is upgraded as per their choice, candidates have to accept it and they have no choice of
retaining the previously allotted seat. For example, a candidate has been upgraded to Electrical Engg,

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) from previously allotted branch of Biomedical Engg at MIT Manipal, then
the candidate has to accept the Electrical Engg branch at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ).
If the seat is not allotted, then the candidates can participate in the next round.
However, if the candidate fails to get a seat till the fifth round seat allotment, then he / she will be eligible
for spot round only.
3.4 Intra-Institute Sliding (Physical Round)
After five rounds of counseling, if vacancy exists, the intra-institute sliding will be conducted for the
candidates who have joined the institute and have started attending the classes.
In intra-institute sliding, the up gradation is possible only within the institute and is no possibility of
movement across the campus.
The candidates can physically register for intra-institute sliding at the respective institute by filling their
choices and locking it.
The seat will be allotted to the candidates as per vacancy, MET 2018 rank and choice
3.5 Spot round seat allotment (Physical Round)
The vacant seat (if any) after the intra-institute sliding will be filled in the spot round as per MET 2018 Rank.
The following candidates are eligible for spot round
o Unregistered candidates in any of the previous rounds of counseling.
o Registered candidates who have not got any seat in the previous rounds of counseling.
o Registered and allotted candidates who did not pay the course fees after seat allotment in any of the
previous rounds
o Admitted candidates who have withdrawn subsequently
o Admitted candidates (these candidates have to vacate the seat before participating in the spot round)
All the candidates who wish to participate in the spot round shall physically report to the respective
Institute at 9.00 AM on the day of the Spot round.
The candidates should bring the documents listed in Table 3, along with two account payee demand
drafts (i) Rs. 2,95,000/- and (ii) Rs. 10,000/- in favor of “Manipal Academy of Higher Education” payable
at Manipal or Udupi, before the registration for spot round.
o Those who have already paid the wait-list fee (Rs.10,000) for registration may bring a demand draft for
the balance amount (Rs. 2,95,000)
Eligible candidates who have submitted all the documents for verification and paid the fee will be
permitted to register for spot round and the seat will be allotted as per the MET 2018 rank, their choice
and availability of seats
Candidates are advised to carefully choose their branches. On a l lo t m en t , candidate has to mandatorily
accept the same.
Those who have got the seat in the spot round w i l l have to collect the admission order and report to
the allotted institute as per the date mentioned in the admission order.
However, if a candidate is not allotted a seat, then the fee collected will be refunded.
Note
If there are any vacancies after the spot round, those seats will be filled based on JEE (Main) rank.

7. Advisory We have NO agents or middlemen for admissions and all admissions can be secured only by merit in the
all India Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2018 and counseling process.
Mere inclusion in the merit list and call for counselling does not guarantee admission to a course. This
will exclusively depend on the candidates all India rank, the number of candidates attending the counselling,
their choice of course / institution and the number of seats available.
Absence of the candidate / authorized representative at the indicated reporting time and date, will result
in the instantaneous forfeiture of any claim for the seat. The choice of course made by the candidate /
representative is final & binding, and cannot be altered later under any circumstances.
All admissions are subject to fulfillment of all the eligibility conditions by the candidate. If it is found at a
later stage, during active verification, that the candidate has given false information / certificate or is found
to have concealed some information his / her admission will be cancelled without any notice. It is the
responsibility of the candidates to ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility requirements for the course(s)
