The principal assigned this task to Sri Rajkumar Verma, music teacher of the school. Sri Verma, along with a few other schools’ music teachers prepared a 10 minute schedule of the Vandana. In addition to Vandana, 10 songs of different provincial languages of the country were also included in this audio cassette. NCERT’s book " vkvks feydj xk,a " was made the basis of this. It was urged that apart from the language of their province, a song of another provincial language (changed every year) should be taught to the children, so that every student who passed class XII learned singing songs of eight-ten languages of their country easily and establish familiarity with those languages.  Vandana improved-sophistication Vandana continued to improve, based on the experience and suggestions gained after five to seven years and with changes in technology. Determination of songs at allIndia level

Every year, a Sanskrit song anda Hindi song were set for primaryclasses and one song for secondaryclasses for all schools and thesequence of sending its audio clipover email started.

Music as a basic subjectIn the year 1989-90, the theory

of physical education, musiceducation, Sanskrit, Yoga and moraland spiritual education disciplinesemerged for the training of‘Panchamahabhut’, correspondingPanchkosh and their spheres ofhuman-body, mind, intellect, life andsoul. For the balanced and holisticdevelopment of personality, it wasplanned to include these fivesubjects in Vidya Bharati schools inthe school curriculum.

The task of training the mindwas to be done through music. Andwork started on the music textbookand syllabus.

Nature of music education1. Music listening

opportunities : Students be giventhe opportunity to listen to high-quality melodious music on theschool’s public broadcasting systemas per the following schedule : (a)20-25 minutes before the school

Vandana, (b) short recess time and(c) 15 minutes after the full recess. Itwas decided that devotional music andpatriotic music should be played.

2. Vandana Session : Thereshould be a 40-minutes Vandanasession, with 10 minutes of Vandana,10 minutes of musical material and 10minutes of other activities, 10 minutesto gather at the Vandana site from theclassroom and return to the classroomafter the Vandana.

In this way, the plan of time forthis Vandana should be planned andimplemented.

3. The schedule for the 10minutes given to music , VidyaBharati has published a book called‘Archan Vandan’, which contains manylessons like morning remembrance,Ekatmata Stotra, couplets,chaupaiyans, Vande Mataram, etc.

4. Introduction to music andpractice : A textbook called ‘Sa ReGa Ma Pa Dha Ni’ was produced andit was decided that every school shouldhave a music teacher and each classshould be given two periods a weekfor music. What to teach, how to teachand how to evaluate - the completemusic curriculum was produced andpublished in March 1993.

5. The syllabus covered thepractice of two ‘ragas’ in each classfrom standard 6 to 12. In this way,Vidya Bharati Uttar Kshetra has donethe work of recording a CD andpublishing a book on patriotic songsbased on these 14 ragas.

 Awareness and encouragement:It was decided that every year

different types of music competitionsshould be held starting from the interclass level to the inter district leveland award the winners.

Expected changes :-# Awakening of patriotic as well

as ‘sattvik’ sentiments in theatmosphere of schools. As a result,the direction of life of the students isdetermined.

# Overall improvement inschool discipline.

# Promotion of a positiveattitude among all members of theschool family.

Globalization is a significantphenomenon in competitive modernworld that integrate and mobilizecultural values of people at a globallevel. Rapid technical progress andrise of social media is unifyingcountries, cultures and economy.This global merger in turn has major

impact on cultural, social, monetary,political, and communal life ofcountries ushering in unprecedentedchanges in all spheres.Though globalization has its ownadvantages, there are severalnegative effects as well. In India weare slowly moving towards a morewesternized culture and graduallymoving away from our Indian roots,thus it is high time we spend more

time relearning our country’s richheritage.

Abhishek Seth, alumnusof Saraswati Vidya Mandir InterCollege, Jhansi Road, and JugalDevi Saraswati Vidya Mandir,Kanpur, UP is a passionate supporterof everything Indian or ‘Swadeshi’. He

believes that our vast historical andcultural heritage is a treasure trove ofknowledge. In his bid to bring Indianscloser to their roots, the M.Tech passout from Malaviya National Institute ofTechnology, joined as a volunteerat Rajiv Dixit Sangh.

The organisation aims to bring‘Swadeshi’ movement back in India andpromote Indianness. Under Rajiv DixitSangh, Abhishek has been involved

with several projects,where he alongwith other volunteers are responsibleto spread awareness regarding theimportance of ‘Swadeshi’ movementspecifically in the fields of Health,Education, Agriculture and Economy.

The team organizecampaigns promoting use ofAyurveda and Naturopathy,instead of relying heavily on Allopathymedicines as Ayurvedic medicinesare more gentler on the human body.A lot of stress is also given towardsmaintaining an active and healthylifestyle, similar to our forefathers.The volunteers encourage peopleto eat natural organic food andbeverages instead of unhealthy fastfood and drinks.

Patronizing local art andhandicrafts, using goodsproduced by Indian companies,stress on learning Indian languagesare all part of their awarenesscampaigns. Once every year a‘Bhartiya Sanskriti’ camp is organisedto promote Indian culture andheritage which is attended by peoplefrom all walks of life.

Apart from awarenesscampaigns the volunteers work withlocal farmers, training themin organic farming and use of

natural fertilizers. This increases thenutritional value of the produce,reduces harmful chemicalcontamination of food and helps tomaintain nutritional balance of the soil.The organisation also support thefarmers to sell their organic producedirectly to the consumers, resulting inmore financial profit for the farmersand fresher food for consumers.

This year Abhishek along withfellow volunteers have started acampaign in Faridabad, called “Mainaur Mera Shahar Abhiyan” whichpromotes the concept of smart citiesand smart citizenship.

The story of Adarsh Ranjan, analumnus of Saraswati Vidya Mandir,Maharajganj (Bihar) speaks ofselfless dedication towards hisfellow countrymen. Adarsh has beenan outstanding student since his schooldays, winning several awards.He wasdeclared as Best Student of the Schoolin the year 2012. He also won 1st Prizein Quiz Competition on National YouthDay at Central University of South Bihar,2nd Prize in State Level English QuizCompetition, organized by Lok ShikshaSamiti, Bihar in the year 2011 andbecame Semi-Finalist of CUSBParliamentary Debate (DPL) held in theyear 2017.

Adarsh’sjourney in social service beganwhen he joined, ‘Team SMiLE’as a member and teasurer. Thisorganization is a social servicegroup initiated by the students

of M.A Political Science, CUSB, inJanuary, 2016 and It’s membership isopen to all students from variousdepartments of the Central Universityof South Bihar. While working for TeamSMiLE, Adarsh along with his fellow teammembers was primarily responsible forupliftment of people residing in slumareas. The team conducted surveys,organised campaigns on health andhygiene, provide free classes tostudents and gave edu-legal aid free ofcost.Apart being part of Team SMiLE, in theyear 2018, Adarsh did an internshipunder the flagship programme ofGovernment of India, Ministry of HumanResource Development, called‘Swachh Bharat summer internship’where he secured first rank at Universitylevel and worn Rs 30000 as awardmoney. Currently, he is a member of theCoordination Committee of ‘Ek BharatShrestha Bharat’, MHRD at CUSB underwhich he is continuing with his socialservice work.

A science fair was organised at the ShriraniSaraswati Sishu Mandir, Forbisganj. Students mademodels highlighting subjects related to science, foodchain, soil conservation, energy conservation,disaster management, agricultural technology, speed,blood circulation in humans, environmental protection,etc. Selected students from here will participate in thestate level science fair in Sitamarhi.

Mandir, Chaibassa in Jharkhand made bags of clothand paper to create awareness against use of Plasticbags. The students asked the teachers not to useplastic bags at all.

Only solar-powered School in MPVidya Bharati's Saraswati Vidyapeeth

Residential School in Shivpuri became the onlysolar-powered school in the state. They installed138 plates of 45 kilowatts and now it willproduce 180 units per day and save more than14,000 Rupees.
