Condotte Group

Condotte d’Acqua S.p.A., founded in 1880, is the oldest construction company in Italy, has worked in more than thirty countries worldwide, and operates in fields ranging from infrastructures to civil building, from healthcare to renewable energies.

Projects in progress

Among the works in progress of residential buildings, in addition to the many initiatives developed by Condotte Immobiliare in Italy, there are the Cloud Congress Center in Rome, the new NATO headquarter in Giugliano, the residential tower Zlota 44 in Warsaw (designed by Daniel Libeskind, right photo), the cellar for the Antinori’s in Bargino (Florence), the Business Centre Pointe de Simon in Martinique (left photo).

The Vega 2 project is one of these prestigious works in progress.

Vega 2 is part of the urban regeneration of a wide area of Marghera, the waterfront of the Venetian mainland.

Condotte, through the Vega 2, is the first mover in this urban regeneration process.

Vega 2: The local framework

The Vega 2 is located at the edge of Turin - Milan - Venice area, the middle part of the Pan-European Corridor V (the plurimodal strategic way linking Kiev and Eastern Europe with the West of Europe). The Turin - Milan - Venice area is one of the most important regions of Europe: 10 cities, 550 km, 26 million inhabitants.

Vega 2 is in the heart of the new metropolitan city called PA.TRE.VE., the merger of the administrative territories of Padua, Treviso and Venice.

PA.TRE.VE. is a highly infrastructured region, populated by over 2.6 mln people, visited yearly by more than 40 million tourists (among the top 20 metropolitan cities in Europe in the 2010 ranking issued by OCSE).

PA.TRE.VE. is one of the most populated and fastest growing areas on the Turin - Milan - Venice corridor.

Vega 2 It is Venice’s gateway (VE.GA. stands for Venice Gateway) and the part of the mainland closest to the lagoon city;

Overlooks the lagoon of Venice, which belongs to the realm of one of the largest lagoon ecosystems (550 sq.km) in Europe and the entire Mediterranean area.

Close to the main road that connects Venice to the mainland and the motorway;

5 minutes far from the Port of Venice (Maritime Station - Passengers Terminal) first cruises homeport in the world.

Vega 2 is next to the largest and most prestigious business district of Veneto region: VEGA, the VEnice GAteway for Science and Technology.

The Science and Technology Park (65.000 sq.m of offices and services, 150 companies settled, over 2.500 users) together with the industrial and harbor area of Porto Marghera, establish a pole of attraction permanently attended by 19.000 people.

Vega 2 arises in this context and represents a magnet for companies looking for an innovative headquarter in Venice: a modern and efficient set of buildings for services, retail, hospitality, public and private offices.

By a couple of year, all over the world, is in act a regeneration process of urban waterfronts.

Many cities have rethought and redeveloped their waterfront, transforming old harbor areas or former industrial sites, in new regenerated districts perfectly integrated with the city life.

Few examples: Hamburg (right), Barcelona, London and Liverpool in Europe; Toronto, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Baltimore, in the rest of the world.

In Venice, the most famous water city in the world, the redevelopment of the waterfront starts from the Vega 2.

…VGD 50x50: a green dream to start the regeneration

During the 13th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, the Vega 2 area hosted a collateral event entitled 50x50 Venice Green Dream.

The designer, landscape architect Andreas Kipar, has wanted to evidenced the chance of a different future for Porto Marghera. Through this landscape artwork he wanted to propose a model of sustainable development: the Green Landscape Economy.

From Brownfield to Greenfield: because the transformation of Marghera can only take place starting from the green and from the environmental regeneration of the former industrial areas.

…an environmental regeneration without consuming land

The Vega 2 is located within the North area of Porto Marghera, for some years this area has gone through a deep process of industrial and environmental regeneration.

The old factories, largely inactive or held for sale, are leaving room for activities related to research and innovation, in a large urban renewal project.

On the Vega 2 area, 55.000 sq.m of land have been cleared by the pollution, and the site is now one of the few areas of the Venetian mainland cleaned up and ready to host an urban renewal project that will be built without any consumpion of land.

Vega 2 is a 40.000 sq.m building dedicated to office, commerce, exhibitions and hospitality.
