Raisoni College of Engineering has organized a guest lecture on “VLSI Design With ADS (Advanced Software Tool)” on dated 31 st July 2012 by Mr. Amol Walde, senior VLSI Design Engineer S.M. Wireless Solution Nagpur. Mr. Walde was welcomed by Dr. A. Y. Deshmukh, Head of Electronics Engg. Department. S.M. Wireless Solution deals with the Design of analog IC’s, RFIC’S and Mixed signal IC’s. Main focus of the lecture was to brief the students about the current scenario of VLSI design and awareness of EDA software. ADS tool and cadence tool which is being used to design the analog and mixed signal VLSI design. The lecture was organized for Post graduate (M.Tech) student of Electronics, VLSI and Embedded course at GHRCE. Exposure to ADS will open up new avenues in VLSI design techniques and greatly help students for career such ASIC design jobs. August 2012. The lecture was delivered by the eminent research scientist Prof. Dr. A. R. Kulkarni, Metallurgy and Material science Department, Currently Institute Chair Professor at IIT Bombay. He explained

different types of luminescence like photo, thermal and so on.He also mentioned application of nanotechnology in various fields. Guest lecture was followed by an interactive session to discuss the doubts and queries arose by students.

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) B P Butey, Dean First Year. Mrs V. D. Raut coordinated the event & all the faculty members of Physics Department worked hard for the success of the event.

Guest Lecture for M.Tech Heat Power Engg. Students

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur has organized a Guest Lecture on Renewable Energy Sources on 17/08/2012.Guest Lecture

was mainly aimed at upgrading the knowledge on Renewable Energy Sources. Students from M.Tech I and III Semester Heat Power Engineering were present.

The guest lecture was delivered by Mr.M.G.Ganoje, Executive Engineer of Koradi Thermal Power Training Centre.

He explained various types of renewable sources of energy and its importance in present energy crisis. He also explained the students the cause of sudden hike in the crude oil prices in the international market.

The guest lecture was co-ordinate by Prof.V.W.Khond of Mechanical Engineering Department. Dr.P.V.Walke (HOD Mechanical), Dr.V.M.Kriplani were prominently present for the guest lecture.

Product demo on IBM Blade server was arranged by Computer Science & Engineering Department for procurement under TEQIP II on 14 August 2012. Demo was attended by CSE faculties, Vaibhav Potnurwar System Analyst, Prof S.A. Chhabria HOD IT. Mr. Nitin Chavhan Business Manager IBM Pvt Ltd., Mr. Kishor Anandikar, ICIS Computers Nagpur delivered demo and answered queries.

RRC for Topic Approval of PG Projects

Department of Computer Science & Engineering arranged RRC meeting for topic approval of PG projects.RRC meeting of M.Tech. (CSE) are attended by Dr. O.G. Kakde, Director, VNIT and Dr. P.S. Deshpande, Associate Professor, VNIT on 20 August 2012. RRC meeting of M.E.(ESC) was scheduled on 23 August and attended by Dr. M.M. Khanapurkar, Professor & HOD, ETC Department, GHRCE. M.E.(WCC) amd M.E.(MT) were scheduled on 30 August and 01 Sept 2012 attended by Dr. A.S. Gandhi, Associate Professor, VNIT to approve topics.

Felicitation of Dr. O.G. KakdeDepartment of Computer Science & Engineering arranged a felicitation ceremony of Dr. O.G. Kakde. Dr. O.G. Kakde joined as Director VJTI.Dr. P.B. UG PROJECT SEMINARS HELD IN PRESENCE OF COLLEGE EXPERT COMMITTEE

Introductory Project seminar for UG VII semester students had been organized on 18th August in S-04. Prof. K. D.Joshi, HOD of ETC department Dr. M.M.Khanapurkar , HOD of IT department Prof. S.A.Chhabria ,and all staff members were present during the event. They guided the students and gave suggestions for their title finalization of the project.

Blood Donation Camp.

The Blood Donation Camp had been jointly organized by the G.H.Raisoni college of Engineering, and National Service Scheme (NSS) at G,H.R.C.E on the eve of Independence day at F-21.

The students from all the department donated their blood for the noble cause. The blood had been donated to Dr.Hedgewar Blood Bank. The senior doctors explained the students the importance of the blood donation on their health.

Training on ANSYS 13 Software

The training on ANSYS 13 software is organized on 20th August 2012 in Mechanical Engineering Department of G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur to update the faculties with current scenario in analysis. The training programme was conducted by DCS.The training program was organized under the guidance of Dr. P V Walke- Head of Department. The co-ordinator of training on ANSYS was Prof. M D Pasarkar, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department. Following faculty members have attended the training programme: Prof. N.P.Awate, Prof. P N Gajbhiye, Prof. V.W.Khond, Prof. N.S.Sohoni and Prof. M.D.Pasarkar.

Department of Civil Engineering of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering organized Project Seminars for Final Year students of Civil Engineering. The seminars were held on 8th

August 2012 and 21st August 2012. Students presented their Final Year project topics to a team of experts comprising of Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Nagpur, Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik, Dean-Academics, GHRCE, Nagpur, Dr. M. M. Khanapurkar, Professor, ETC Dept., GHRCE, Nagpur and Dr. U. S. Wankhede, Asso. Professor, Mechanical Dept., GHRCE, Nagpur. The experts gave feedback to students about their project topic and suggested some changes to make it innovative. The students appreciated the suggestions and promised to work harder for a meaningful final year project. Dr. B. V. Khode, HOD-Civil, coordinated this event.

The Civil Engineering Department of GHRCE, Nagpur organized a meeting with industrial experts to discuss research topics of postgraduate Environmental Engineering and Transportation Engineering students on 19th July 2012. The purpose of meeting was to seek opinion from industry person regarding real-world application of student project in industry. On this occasion Dr. R. A. Daryapurkar, CEO, Lars Enviro Pvt. Limited and Mr. V. P. Brahmankar, Manager-Technical, NHAI, Nagpur were present to share their opinion. Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik, Dean-Academics, GHRCE also provided students with insightful opinions to the students on their choice of topics. Students from third semester M.Tech presented their project topics and their questions to the expert, which were answered with suggestions and additional modifications to make it industry-relevant. The program was coordinated by Dr. R. M. Deshpande and Prof. I. P. Khedikar.

The Civil Engineering Department of GHRCE, Nagpur organized a meeting with industrial experts to discuss research topics of undergraduate Civil Engineering students on 19th July 2011. The purpose of meeting was to seek opinion from industry person regarding real-world application of student project in industry. On this occasion Er. Rajendra Pande, Assistant Vice-President, Reliance Infrastructure and Er. P. S. Visweswara, Managing Director, RCC Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur were present to share their opinion. In their interaction, the experts urged students to take on various challenges and tackle the problem of industry with innovative approach. Students from seventh semester presented their project topics and their questions to the expert, which were answered with insightful suggestions. Prof. B. V. Khode, HOD, Civil Department and entire staff members of Civil Engineering Department worked for the successful conduction of this event.

WORK SHOP/EVENTS

Research Methodology Workshop

G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur has organized three days workshop on Research Methodology from 16-18, August 2012, for the M.Tech students.

The workshop was conducted by the Director Dr.P.R.Bajaj, Dr.P.B.Nagarnaik DeanAcademics, Dr.D.J.Tidke, Dr.A.Y.Deshmukh, Dr.S.B.Jaju, Dr.U.S.Wankhede, Dr.S.S.Dorle, Dr.B.V.Khode, Dr.A.B.Deoghare, Dr.R.M.Deshpande, Dr.L.G.Malik and Prof. S. D. Giripunje. The workshop was aimed to motivate the students for the research work. The workshop was conducted in number of sessions such as literature review, Case Presentation, Patents and Evaluation of Research and so on.

All the faculty members encourage the students to publish the review paper in the next month based on the data collected for their project work and also explain the importance of impact factor of the Journal and Research paper. The workshop helped the students to become aware of the current scenario of the research in their respective fields.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

G.H .Raisoni College of Engineering celebrated 66th

Independence day on 15th August 2012.The National Flag was hosted by Paras Bhatt, student of Information Technology department as he was college topper in 2011-12.

Flag hosting ceremony was followed by ‘Blood Donation Camp’ at F-21. Students had actively participated in this camp. All faculty members of respective department appreciated for enthusiam shown by students. Interdepartmental ‘Patriotic Song Competition’ was held in auditorium. Students of Information Technology had participated in it. The participants of all the departments left no stone unturned to impress the judges as well as the audience by singing their respective songs with bubbling patriotic feelings.The Chief Guest addressed the audience and praised the efforts of the participants for creating a patriotic environment on the Independence Day.

Department of Electronics Engineering organized series of One day Workshop on Basic Embedded System and Red

Department of Electronics Engineering, G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur organized a one day Workshop on Basic Embedded System and Red Hat Linuxunder aegis of IEEE on dated 17th August 2012.

The program receives good response from students of all branches. The course covers the topics like introduction of Basic Embedded system, linux and its installation. The students

satisfied with the activity as it is beneficial for them in the studies and placement. Dr. D. V. Padole Electronics Dept. Prof. S. V. Skill Enhancement Program Started for one month duration in Department of Electronics Engineering.

Skill Enhancement program on VLSI CMOS Design & TANNER TOOL has been started on 16th August 2012 by Department of Electronics Engineering, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. The program gives the basic foundation for state of art VLSI CMOS Design. It emphasizes with basics of design & Layout of CMOS VLSI Circuits as well as study the essential physics required for understanding VLSI design rule. Prof M.M. Pathan is Coordinating the Program, 40 candidates participating and taking the advantage of program.

Skill Enhancement program on LABVIEW and VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS has been started on 23th August 2012 by Department of Electronics Engineering, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. The program gives the basic foundation LABVIEW. It prepares to do following things: Use LabVIEW to create applications. Understand front panels, block diagrams, and icons and connector panel. Use built-in LabVIEW functions. Create and save programs in LabVIEW so you can use them as subroutines. Prof. P.M. Ghutke isCoordinating the Program.

Poster Competition “ALCHEMY”

A Poster Competition “ALCHEMY-2012” was organized for the First Semester B.E. students by Applied Chemistry faculties under the aegis of First Year Forum ‘FAITH’ at GHRCE on 18th August 2012. The theme of the competition was “Energy Sources of the Future”. The competition was organized for six sections (G-L) of First Semester B.E. The Posters presented by students were observed and lauded by Director Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Dean First Year Dr. B. P. Butey, Associate Dean First Year Prof. A. M. Sudame and faculty members. The competition received huge response from the students. Students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. The faculties of first year engineering department worked hard for the success of the event.

Blood Donation Camp at GHRCE on Independence Day

On the auspicious occasion of the 65th “Independence Day” a Blood donation camp was jointly organized by the Department of First Year under the aegis of the First Year Forum “FAITH” and the National Service Scheme (NSS) at G.H.R.C.E. Dr. K. K. Dhote, Executive Director of Raisoni Group of Institutions and Ex-Joint Director DTE, Nagpur region inaugurated the camp. Director Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Dean Academics Dr.P. B. Nagarnaik, Dean First Year Dr. B. P. Butey, Head of the Departments and faculty members of various departments were prominently present at the event.

Camp received a very good response from the students as well as the faculties of G.H.R.C.E. Around 200 participants donated blood voluntarily. The blood was donated to the Dr. Hedgewar Blood Bank, a social charitable organization for patients suffering from thalassemia, an incurable medical condition where the patients are incapable of producing blood. The camp was attended by their Vice President Mr. Ashok Patki, Dr. Tungar, Dr. Kshirsagar, Dr. Deshmukh, Mr. Pravin Patil, Mr. Pritish Amte, etc.

Teaching & non-teaching Staff of First Year B.E. Department proved to be instrumental in the success of the camp.

Focus Group Meeting of Applied Physics at GHRCE

Applied Physics Department of G.H.R.C.E. organized Focus Group Meeting on Saturday, 4th August 2012 for the faculties. The main motto of the meeting was up gradation of the syllabus and guidance for R&D. The meeting began with presentation of Prof. Dr. A. R. Kulkarni, Metallurgy and Material science Department, Currently Institute Chair Professor at IIT Bombay. He guided the Faculties on the topic “Nanotechnology and Materials for Advanced Batteries”.

He emphasized on power saving and also explained about the progress of energy Resources. He further mentioned about green energy source SOFC fuel cells, and super-capacitors.Post lunch session began with the guest lecture by Dr. V. K. Deshpande, Professor, Applied Physics, Visvesvaraya National

Institute of Technology, (VNIT) Nagpur on the topic “Challenges and opportunities for teachers in Engineering Institute” in which he emphasized how teacher can improve his/her teaching skills. He stressed that teachers should rather focus on educating students than just teaching to the students in the class room.

Dr. Kulkarni and Dr. Deshpande also guided on various R & D schemes and collaborative research.This event was all out searching for the ultimate hands on team with great design minds who can cherish anything from the available situations. The meeting was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) B P Butey, Dean First Year. Mrs V. D. Raut coordinated the event & all the faculty members of Physics Department were instrumental for the success of the event.

Orientation Programme for Psychological counseling held at GHRCE

Orientation Programme for Psychological counseling was held at GHRCE in the month of August for First Semester B.E. students. Mrs. Sumitra Chatterjee who is a renowned psychological counselor cum motivator and is associated with GHRCE for the last six years to deal with the problems of the students of GHRCE conducted this orientation programme. The orientation programme was conducted for sections A, B, C, G, H. The main objective of the programme was to make students aware about the facility of psychological counseling available in College. Students were made aware that they can approach the counselor with their academic and non-academic problems anytime and they should make the most of this facility available in College for them.

Medical Checkup for First Semester B.E. Students in GHRCE

A general medical exam of First Semester B.E. students of Section-C was carried out by GHRCE’s visiting physician Dr. Vinod Bora on 24th August and & 7th September 2012. To begin with, the medical exam was carried out for two sections viz. B and H in the Month of July and Section A in the month of August. During the checkup, systematic examination of individual student was carried out and various parameters viz. Weight, age, blood pressure etc. were noted. Also chronic

problems, if any, were discussed and further investigations were advised.

Indoor and Outdoor Sports for First Semester B.E. at GHRCE

Various sports events were organized on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August, 2012 under the aegis of first year forum FAITH. Numbers of indoor and outdoor games were held including Table Tennis, Chess, Pool and Basketball. All first year sections actively participated in these sports which were arranged at GHRCE Sports Room and Basketball match was held at Ravi Nagar sports ground behind Manasi girl’s hostel, Nagpur .Three of the first year faculty members Prof. B. Thakran, Prof. M. Ahmad and Prof. V. N. Chaudhari were appointed for supervising these sports events on the field along with the Sports In charge Mr. I. S. Randhawa.

Dr B. P. Butey, Dean first year, Prof. A. M. Sudame, Associate Dean first year, Forum In-charge Prof. G. M. Randhawa & all Faculty members of First Year Engineering Department contributed effectively for the smooth conduction of these events.

VIBRANT GATHERING TAKES RAISONIANS ON AN ENTOURAGE TO THEATRE!

The Department of First Year Engineering organized an Inter-section “Skit Competition” under the aegis of the First Year forum “FAITH”. G.H.R.C.E. has always been a trendsetter in conducting innovative and creative competitions.

The Chief Guest for the competition was none other than Mr. Vikash Khurana who is the most eminent personality in the theatre industry in the whole of Central India. He was also the Judge for the event. In all ten teams participated in the programme with over 80 students showcasing their acting skills via skits that encompassed sensitive issues like corruption, ragging, peer pressure, party culture, etc. Each skit had a strong message that the students wanted to convey to the audience at large.

The skit by Madhurika and Group of section B on Corruption was declared as the winner. There was a tie for the position of Runner-up between Jessica and Group that showed the fight of a woman to save her Girl Child and Vaishnavi and Group of Section H that highlighted on the life of students in their teenage. The programme was hosted by Apoorva Survawanshi of Section C and Apoorva Sonavne of Section E. The Director Dr. Preeti Bajaj and Dr. Bhavana Butey Dean First-year were instrumental in making the programme a grant success. All the faculty members and student volunteers worked hard for the success of the programme.

CLASS REPRESENTATIVE MEETING

Departmental meeting of Class Representative (III & V Semester) of IT department was held in the H.O.D. cabin. The meeting was conducted by Prof. S.A.Chhabria, H.O.D I.T. on 30/08/2012 at 12:30 .Class Representatives were present in the meeting. They addressed their grievances and suggestions. Prof. S.A.Chhabria gave certain guidelines and assured them to look after their problems and solve them as soon as possible.

PHOENIX 2012

The Computer Science Engineering Department of G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering had their annual cultural forum PHOENIX-2012 on 27th July 2012. The inaugural ceremony of PHOENIX-12 was carried out by the auspicious hands of Chief guest Mr.Shashank Garg, CEO, Infocepts, Nagpur. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. P.R.Bajaj, Director G.H.R.C.E, Dr. L. G. Malik, Head of Dept (CSE), Forum in-charge Ms.S.M.Nirkhi and all faculty members from Computer Science & Engineering Department.

The office bearers for Phoenix-12 were Mr. Ashutosh Shivhare as President,Mr.Swapnil Bonde Ms. Nikita Hudiya as Vice president, Mr. Nikhil Phirke as Tresurer.Tarun Dheeraj as Secretary, Tushar Betala & Akshat Khandelwal as Joint Secretery. Under this student forum department had organized technical & cultural events along with Indoor & outdoor sports activities like Carrom, Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Basket-ball, and LAN gaming etc.Technical activities like Dalal street, Google IT out, web designing, Blind’C’ & cultural activities like singing, dancing, fashion show, movie-making was the part of PHOENIX-12.All faculties, student coordinators worked hard to make this event successful. In the coming days Workshops, guest lectures and CSR activities will be organized under this forum.

IT FORRUM:- BITS-12

G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Department of Information Technology, Nagpur had organized forum “BITS-12” and installation ceremony of EWB-2012 on 25/08/12 in Auditorium. Principal Dr. P.R. Bajaj, Chief Guest Shri Chandra Bhople, Director Octave Business School and Guest of honor Shri Mahendra Kakade, Ex. Lieutenant Commander and faculty of Octave Business School graced the occasion.The function began with the traditional lighting of lamp as a tribute to goddess Saraswati followed by floral welcome to the guests. Final year students, President of forum Gaurav Sood and Vice-President Rahul Gaur expressed their thoughts in their speeches.

Chief Guest highlighted the importance of EWB . This was followed by entertainment programme by students of IT department. All the students actively participated in the forum. Ii included mehandi, rangoli, singing, dancing and fashion show competition. Also indoor ,outdoor sports and technical events(Blind C and Webdesigning) were held. The participants left no stone unturned to impress the judges as well as the audience by their performances.

The function was followed by “Tree Plantation Programme”. The entire Tree plantation activity was coordinated by HOD of Information technology Prof. S.A.Chhabria, forum in-charge Prof. Nisha Raote and student coordinators. This year special activity was conducted which was a perfect example of how college students can work with enthusiasm towards a cleaner, greener city. It is hoped that in the coming years, the people in society not just plant more and more trees but also take care of them. HOD, Staff members and students of IT department worked hard to make function successful.

Industrial visit to TENCO plant for First Semester (Sec. H) B.E. students

An industrial visit of First Semester B.E. students of section-H was organized by the First Year Engineering Department on 11th August 2012 at GHRCE. 70 Students of Section H visited TENICO Aqua Beverages Plant at Sukli, Hingna.

The plant mainly deals with water purification in which they remove the undesirable chemicals and contaminants from the regular water.The Biogas plant is of 15 kVA which requires a minimum of 600 kg of biomass (dung and slurry) into the pit per day. A large PV disc of multiple glasses fitted in such a

fashion that the whole energy is concentrated at one point. The street lights are powered with solar panels. A small wind mill is also erected which is generating electricity for ashram.

The students were accompanied by Prof.S.P. Nagmote, Prof. V.W.Khond, Dr. R.R. Shrivastava and Prof.C.S.Wadaskar. Students got the opportunity to know many useful things which will be beneficial to them in the future and will also enhance their practical knowledge.

Industrial Visit of VII Semester sec A to “Eros Metal Works, MIDC Nagpur”

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur arranged an Industrial Visit of VII semester section A students to Eros Metal Works on 12th August 2012. The officials of Eros Metal Works Mr. Milind Nimbradkar and Shrikant Dronkar gave brief information about the overall functioning of various departments including Painting section, Press shop, Assembly shop, maintenance shop & safety practices performed in plant. He also explained various international standards that had been followed in the plant.

Total 45 students from VII semester section A, along with two faculty members Prof. K.S. Rambhad and Prof. M.A. Quraishi, visited the industry.

cold storage, lamination section, cutting section, ware house and automated material handling system.

Nagpur.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur has organized Industrial Visit to NSSL Limited for the students of M-Tech CAD/CAM First & Third semester on 17th August, 2012.

Mr. Satyajit Kitukle Sr. Production Engineer of “NSSL Limited, Nagpur” given brief information about the overall functioning of various departments including Storage, Manufacturing and Assembly sections. This Division mainly manufactures the valve like gate valve and globe valve in various dimensions varying from 2” to 36”. He has explained the various processes like submerge arc welding, Spot facing, hard facing, lapping, Testing of Valve at various pressures.

Total 15 students from M-Tech CAD/CAM First semester of Mechanical Engineering along with three faculty members Dr. D. J. Tidke, Prof.Laukik Raut and Prof. A.P.More visited the industry.

Site Visit of Civil Engineering Department students to Swapnil Construction, Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur

Civil Engineering Department of GHRCE, Nagpur conducted a Site visit to “Swapnil Construction, Laxmi Nagar Site, Laxmi Nagar” on July 27, 2012. Construction work for residential complex is progressing at the site. Site in – charge

Mr. Sachin Agarkar along with their staff provided valuable guidance to the Seventh Semester Students and gave practical perspective of the subject Advanced Concrete Structures. The students were able to gather significant knowledge about the construction activities with this visit. Prof. P. B. Patil, Prof. V. K. Gajghate, Prof. N. H. Pitale and Prof. S. S. Department of Civil Engineering of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering organized a site visit on 21, August 2012 for the student of M.Tech I semester Environmental Engineering at Gorewada ,Nagpur to visit Water Treatment Plant. Mr. Barik, Site Engineer interacted with the students and gave detailed information about the plant. All the students were present on this occasion and were benefited greatly. Site Visit of Civil Engineering Department students of GHRCE, Nagpur to Bhandewadi Water Treatment Plant

Department of Civil Engineering of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering organized the site visit on 22, August 2012 for the student of M.Tech Environmental Engineering to Bhandewadi, Nagpur to visit the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Shrikant Deshmukh Sr. Manager of the Plant, interacted with the students and gave detailed information about the both the plants. All the students of M.Tech Environmental Engineering were present on this occasion and were benefited greatly. Faculties from department were also present. Prof. Isha P.Khedikar and Prof. M.P.
