VALUES-BASED HIRINGDo new hires have the right values for your organization to meet its strategic objectives?1. Every new hire either adds to or detracts from your organization’s values. 2. One of the easiest ways to impact the strategic success of your organization is to hire people who match your organization’s values.1

To ensure organizational values don’t get diluted, companies must create a culture of hiring excellence that:1. Attracts a broader, more qualified pool of applicants that align with the company’s values.2. Can identify those candidates who will enhance the organization’s values instead of dilute them so that the company can execute on its strategic plans.

How do you ensure new employees maintain the values of your organization? Through Values-Based Hiring. Each employee brings with them values and culture from their previous roles. Only by ensuring a level of integrity between a new employee and your organization’s values can your company grow without diluting its culture.

Values-Based Job Description Cleanup

What’s the best way to attract candidates that will add to your company’s values? The answer: through your job descriptions. Talent Sonar’s expert editors will review your existing job descriptions and make adjustments to ensure they

● Reflect your organization’s values● Are inclusive● Have consistent formatting

Through consistent, values-oriented job descriptions, your organizations can ensure that you are attracting the broadest set of candidates that will succeed within your organization’s culture.

Values-Based Job Description Workshop

Talent Sonar experts will review 10-15 job descriptions from your organization. We will:

● Identify and change problematic terms and phrases that discourage certain qualified applicants from applying.

● Based on your company’s values, propose additional inclusive themes to incorporate.

Next, findings will be presented in a working session that includes:

● Research on how problematic language can discourage certain candidates from applying

● How values can be reflected in job descriptions. ● Participants will adjust two job descriptions with

the guidance of Talent Sonar’s experts.

Values-Based Hiring Workshop on Evaluating Candidates for Strategic Fit

While organizations usually have pre-defined corporate values, employees may not feel ownership of those values. Similarly, the way a particular value would be relevant to one team may be different from the way it is relevant to another team. For example, the value “innovation” would have a different meaning to a research team than it does to a finance team.

Talent Sonar’s culture experts will work with your hiring teams to define how each value addresses that team’s hiring needs. Then we will work with the team on how to assess these values in potential new hires. Through this employees gain ownership of the organization’s values and understand how to evaluate for those values in the hiring process.

Based on your organization’s values, Talent Sonar will provide a workshop that covers:

● Research on how unconscious bias comes into play in the hiring process,

● How to mitigate that unconscious bias by focusing on hiring for values, and

● Working with each team member to create behavior-based interview questions and evaluation guidelines around your values. Participants build an interviewing guide based on each of your key values that will promote consistent, fair evaluation of candidates.
