  • ear Parents, D

We are proud to present our Vacation Reading Program.

We hope that with the help of this program families can spend

plenty of enjoyable time reading, which includes reading

independently or reading to one another. We believe that

during vacation it is important to allow for plenty of time for

your child to play, relax and be with friends and family. This is

why the main goal of this program is to give children the

opportunity to enjoy reading, and instill a life long love for

books and the written word. This is also an opportunity to do

what research suggests as the most effective strategy to help

children retain the skills they worked so hard developing all year

    long.

If your child wants to participate, just have your child keep

track of the books she/he has read during vacation using the

reading log on the last page of the booklet. When vacation is

over, your child can turn in the reading log to the library to earn

    a special certificate.

In this booklet, you will find a variety of information

regarding the use of the library, from statistics to online access.

You will also find a list of the benefits that reading brings famous

authors, recommended books and resources online.

Enjoy the vacation, and enjoy reading!

  • K eep on Reading Program Presentation

Reading is very important for our Lincoln School community.

The elementary library circulation statistics -that we are pleased

to share with you here confirmed it. The elementary library has registered 17,776 bibliographic, and

audiovisual, and electronic resources in its data base. These

resources are available for a population of 1,342 costumers also

registered in the same data base. Graphic No.1 shows the

following percentages: 45% of our customers are students from

    1st to 5

th grade, 13% are elementary teachers, 11% administrators

and the 29% left is an increasing group of parents that have

been requesting services from the library.

The library data base registered a total of 30,150 loans during

the current 2011-2012 school year. Graphic No.2 indicates that

56% of the total of resources was checked out by elementary

students, 23% by teachers and administrators and 20% by

    parents.

We invite you and your kids to Keep on Reading and join the

Elementary Library Vacation Reading Program that we offer to

    you here,

    My best wishes,

    4. You can travel around the world without ever leaving home.

    let you dream.

    6. Developing good reading skills helps

    students do better in all

    subjects.

    7. It is good way to start a conversation with your children about friendships, relationships, or any other subject.
