Recycle Right!Place these types of materials in your recycling barrel or bin. Make sure all containers are completely empty.

Recycling Fact - Recycling is a process to create new items from old and used materials. This helps in reducing energy and prevents potentially useful

materials from being wasted.

Holiday Waste ReductionThis holiday season, choose to reduce your waste! Donate unwanted and usable toys, clothing, bikes and electronic items to local charities. The Salvation Army and Goodwill are a few of the many local thrift and donation stores that are in need of your gently used items. Go to SalvationArmy-SoCal.org or GoodwillSoCal.org for your nearest donation location.

1. Purchase products that come in recyclable packaging. Look for phrases like “Made with recyclable materials” or “Can be recycled.”

2. Find more ways to reuse things in your home. Coffee cans become storage for craft and art supplies. Empty jars, and votive holders can be reused to organize hair accessories. The ideas are limitless!

3. Bring your reusable bag every time you go shopping! The best way to remember to bring your reusable bags with you is by doing the following: place the reusable bag(s) with your keys, or coupons, or leave a set in the car.

4. Donate unwanted materials. The trash is best for items that cannot be recycled or reused. Old clothing, toys, bedding and in some cases furniture can find a new purpose through thrift stores.

5. Here is another method to reuse clothing! Organize a clothing swap. Invite friends and family over, and each brings ten gently used or never worn items to swap. It’s a great way to de-clutter your closet and get a new wardrobe!
