Each week they explore a UU Principle through a hidden treasure. Arts and crafts, stories, and questions grow our young and curious UUs. Kindergarten will begin and end in class.9:15 Kindergarten: Treasure HuntingDelves deeply into our seventh Principle. Instills respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part, and appreciation of its beauty, excitement, and mystery. It is founded on the premise that direct experience in nature is essential to childrens physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development.This class and all other classes to Gr. 6 begin in the Chapel or Sanctuary.11:15 Kindergarten9:15 and 11:15 Grade 1: World of WonderFirst Graders also experience OWL from Apr. 3 through May 15. at 11:15 we will decide if K will be combined with Gr. 1 for the rest of the year.Specially UUA-trained UUCF facilitators meet with parents and children in Januaryin preparation for the class content. Written permission from parents required before OWL sessions begin.Grade 1: Our Whole Lives (OWL)Provides ethical learning through storytelling. Provides children with spiritual and ethical tools to make choices and take actions that reflect their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values. The stories in Moral Tales draw from all our UU Sources.

9:15 Grade 2: Moral TalesLearn to seek guidance in life through the lens of our UU Sources, with an emphasis on love. Apply wisdom from our sources when exploring questions, such as Where did we come from? What is our relationship to the Earth and other creatures? How can we respond with love, even in bad situations? What happens when you die?11:15 Grade 29:15 and 11:15 Grade 3: Love Will Guide UsReflect on the qualities of our UU faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Use a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight). Explore: What tools does Unitarian Universalism offer for the challenges of life?

9:15 and 11:15 Grade 4: Toolbox of FaithBibleodeonintroduces stories from the Bible in engaging and provocative ways: They dont just read, they experience the great Hebrew and Christian stories of the bible. -authors Richard and Tirrell Kimball.Active engagement with their own beliefs in relationship to the teachings in the Bible.11:15 Grade 5 and 9:15/11:15 Grade 6: BibleodeonApr. 3 through May 15 (Gr. 6 at 11:15 will continue with regular class)Specially UUA-trained UUCF facilitators meet with parents and children in Januaryin preparation for the class content.
