Using Windows 10 & CAN-8 in the Language Learning Lab

1. Double click the VirtualBoxVM icon in the Dock. The application screen will appear.

2. Select Windows 10 and click the green Start arrow. Wait for the Windows 10 operating system to start and the desktop to finish loading.

3. The Windows 10 desktop runs in a window on top of the Mac OS desktop and Mac application windows. Other Mac apps can run, but more slowly, because the Windows virtual machine is using 10 GB out of the host computer’s 16 GB total memory. Patience is needed.

4. Double click the CAN-8 Client icon on the Windows desktop.

5. Login with your Student ID number for User ID and PWORD (or pword) for the password.

6. If you downloaded CAN-8 from neiu.edu/languages type in or select 66.99.15.210 for Server.

7. Scroll down and click to select the desired lesson. To quit, click File, Exit or the X in the upper right

corner of the screen. To quit Windows, click the Windows Start, Power, Shutdown.
