2. Map your data with additional data in order to tell your communities story and assist in policy development and program planning.
Types of Data
Primary: Original data collected by the ‘researcher’ specifically for a purpose.
Secondary: Data that have been collected for another purpose and now available for other ‘researchers’ to use for their purposes.
‘Researcher’ can be community residents, community based organizations, or academic institutions
Why collect Primary data
- Secondary data is not available- Verify secondary data (ie. Ground-truth
data)- Necessary to tell your story

Outdoor Exercise Equipment at local parks
To increase physical activity in local communities and combat the rise in obesity rates, there has been an increase in the number of outdoor exercise equipment at existing local parks.
The Trust for Public Land has developed Fitness Zones where outdoor exercise equipment is donated to local parks. http://www.tpl.org/what-we-do/initiatives/parks-for-people/fitnesszones.html
