2.1 Members - tab/worksheet (M-nn)
+ Member’s Unique Legislator Code Position in record Max Characters Sample
UID M-01 8 “32109”
Description: Member’s unique LEGISLATOR code. (Same as field O-01 and A-01) Data Usage: Used in tracking and cross-referencing this data to other KnowWho database products, including narrative biographies; committee/subcommittee data; This UID is what maps a person to a valid seat/role. UID is tied to a singular seat/role and it is a zero sum gain, meaning that there are a fixed number of UID’s. The only way that a UID would be deleted from the data is if there were a redistricting and the seat/role was removed. The only way a new UID would be created is if there were a redistricting and a new seat/role was added. DEVELOPERS NOTE1: When this UID is paired with the PID (below) it is always unique. DEVELOPERS NOTE2: To link to Congress and State Photofile™ products, use fields PHOTOPATH (M-90) and PHOTOFILE (M-91) at the end of this Member’s worksheet. They are specially designed to make this task simple.
+ Person’s Unique Code Position in record Max Characters Sample
PID M-02 8 “222777” Description: A unique ID code that identifies an individual, this code NEVER CHANGES – NEVER GETS REUSED
Data Usage: Used in tracking individuals as they move through different positions, and responsibilities in the database.
