US Sailing
• Founded: October 30, 1897 as the North American Yacht Racing Union (NAYRU).
• Vision: Be the recognized leader in training and certification, in support for the racing sailor and in facilitating access to sailing.
• Mission: To provide leadership for the sport of sailing in the United States.

Reach-Science through Sailing
• Reach teaches Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) using sailing as the platform.

• Training: STEM Educator Course • Can be used as STEM-specific program,
for “Adventure Sailing” type program or as rainy day activities.

Keelboat schools can only offer US Sailing student level certifications after completing accreditation review.
All others may use US Sailing materials provided that they are signed off by an US Sailing/US Poweboating instructor.
• Tall Ships Port Festivals – Reach
• Collaborations at the local member vessel and program level, including:
• Sequential programming, to capture kids who age out of community and club sailing programs but who may not be interested in competitive sailing, and direct them into a local tall ships program
• Joint activities, public events, and even fund-raisers, to build community awareness and support for sailing in both small ships and tall ships
• Using local tall ships for committee boat, VIP boat, or press boat service at yacht race starts, etc., adding a new “hook” for the media and sponsors
• Collaborating on seamanship training and classes, on offshore navigation classes and practical experience programs, on voyage planning courses; etc.
