2. USAGE

Thisheightadjustabledeskhasanelectricmotorandisdesignedforuseindryworkareasonly.Thedeskheight is adjustable so that it can be positioned at the most ergonomically suitable height. These desks are designedonlyforthepurposesincludedinthismanual.Theyshouldnotbeusedinenvironmentswithhighhumidity or dampness. Any other use is at user’s risk.

Donotmovearound,crawl,orlieunderthedeskframe.Donotsitorstandonthedeskframe.

Children should never use the desk unless they are supervised by adults.

Liability: Undernocircumstancesdoesthemanufactureracceptwarrantyclaimsorliabilityclaimsfordam-agescausedfromimproperuseorhandlingofthedeskframeotherthanthatwhichisdescribedinthisoperation manual.

1. SAFETY AND WARNINGS

Whenusinganelectricalfurnishing,basicprecautionsshouldalwaysbefollowed,includingthefollowing:Read all instructions before using the desk.

4. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

A. Layoutallcomponentsandhardwareto ensure that you have all the components andhardwarelistedonthepartspage.

Placefive(5)self-adhesiveAdhesivePads(part4)oneachofthefour(4)Zero CrossbarBrackets(part3)asshown.

B. PlaceeachZeroCrossbarBracket(part3)ontheundersideofthedesktop.CarefullymeasurefromallsidesandattachtheZeroCrossbarBrackets(part3)totheundersideofthedesktopwithtwenty-four(24)PanHeadScrews(part10),six(6)perbracket.

Double-checkthatthewoodscrewsare not too long for the desktop andwon’tpuncturethesurfacewhenscrewedallthewayin.

Ifyourdesktopisnotpre-drilled,werecommendthat you pre-drill the holes for connecting the Brackets(part3)tothedesktop.Drill1/2’’deep(max)witha1/8’’drillbit.Neverusecountersunkscrews.

E. Usingthecables,connecttheLegs(part1) totheControlbox(part5)andtheKeypad (part6)asperthediagrambelow.

Do this so you can place the Keypad andControlBoxinsuchawaysothat the cables can reach them.

C. Usingthesuppliedallenwrench,insertfour(4)MachineScrews(part9)throughtheholesineachZeroCrossbar Bracket(part3)goingintotheLeg(part1) androtateeachscrewjustafewturns.

Whenallmachinescrewsarethreaded,gobackandtightenallfour(4).

G. Turntheassembleddeskright-side-up.Withtwopeople,grabthedeskbythelegsanddesktop and turn the desk right-side up. Adjust the Leveling studs on the Feet as needed.

MAKE SURE NO OBSTACLES ARE IN THE DESK’S PATH. MAKE SURE ALL CORDS ARE OF A LENGTH THAT WILL

ACCOMMODATE THE CHANGE IN HEIGHT.

H. PlugthePowerCordintoa110voutlet.IMPORTANT!

You must RESET the desk prior to use! Press and hold the DOWN button on the Keypad until the desk reaches itslowestheight.ReleasetheDOWNbutton.PressandholdtheDOWN buttonagainuntiltheLEDdisplayreads“RST”orabout10secondson non-LED handset models. Release the DOWN button. Press and hold theDOWNbuttonagainuntilthedesklowersalittlebitmore,slightly risesandstops.ReleasetheDOWNbutton.Yourdeskisnowreadytouse.

Toprogramuptofourpresets:Usetheup/downbuttonstofindadesiredheight,thenpress“M”followedbyanumber1–4.

F. AttachtheControlBox (part5)totheundersideof thedesktopusingtwo(2)M5x16 Screws(part10).Ensureitisplacedclose to the center of the desktop so the cables can reach it.

PlacetheKeypad(part6)sothat thefrontoftheKeypadisflushwith thefrontdesktopedge(orrecessed upto1/8”).TheKeypadmaybeplaced anywherealongthefrontedgeofthe desktopbutwerecommendplacingit towardanendsoitdoesnotinterfere withthechairswhenseated.Usetwo (2)M5x16Screws(part10)tothedesktop.

Usetheadhesive-backedCableClips(part11) to secure the Connecting Wires, so they don’t sag.

Double-checkthatthewoodscrewsare not too long for the desktop andwon’tpuncturethesurfacewhenscrewedallthewayin.

Donotovertightenscrewsinthisstep. Overtightening could cause damage to the components.

Ifyourdesktopisnotpre-drilled,werecommendthatyoupre-drilltheholesforconnectingtheControlbox(part5)andKeypad(part6)tothedesktop. Drill1/2’’deep(max)witha1/8’’drillbit.Neverusecountersunkscrews.

5. DESK PLACEMENT

Followingdeskassembly,adjusttheLevelingstudsorcasters(soldseparately)onthefeetsothatthedeskis level and does not shift its position.

Whenmovingthedesk,ifcastersarenotinstalled,useatwo-personliftandliftthedesksothatitcanbemovedwithoutdragging.Draggingthedeskmaycausetheframeandscrewstopullloosefromthedesktop.

When moving the desk, DO NOT lift the desk by the desktop alone, or the frame, alone. Support both the frameandthedesktopequally.Favoringoneovertheothercanstressthefastenersconnectingthedeskframetothedesktop.Lowerthedeskcompletelyandliftthedeskbygraspingtheframe.

Chooseaplacementforthedeskthat’sasafedistancefromwindowframes,radiators,furniture,etc.,sothat people do not get stuck or trapped by the desk.

Checkcordclearance,sothattheydon’tgetjammed.Thenconnectthedesktothe120voutletandthedesk is ready for use.

Donotplaceanyobjectsunderneaththedeskthataretallerthan20’’.

6. PROGRAMMING:

If you’ve purchased an UPLIFT Desk and the Advanced 1-touch digital keypad, press the DOWN button ontheKeypaduntiltheframereachesitslowestposition.Measuretheheightoftheframefromthefloorto the underside of the desktop and if the number on the LED display does NOT match your measure-ment,followthesesteps:

Press and hold the DOWN button again until the LED display reads “RST”

Pressandholdthe“M”button(about5seconds)untiltheLEDdisplaystheflashingstartingheight. (Ifthedisplayreturnsto“RST”beforethenextstepistaken,repeatthisstep.)

To change the value of the starting height:

By0.1s: Increase:presstheUPbutton

Decrease:presstheDOWNbutton

Oncethenewvalueisdisplayed,waitabout5secondsandthedisplaywillreturnto“RST”.FinishtheresetprocessbypressingandholdingtheDOWNbuttonagainuntilthedesklowersalittlebitmore,slightlyrisesandstops.ReleasetheDOWNbutton.Thenewstartingheightvalueissavedandyourdeskisnowreadytouse.

Note:theLEDdisplayhasa0.1tolerance.+-

By1.0s:Increase:pressthe“l”button Decrease:pressthe“2”button

By10.0s: Increase:pressthe“3”button Decrease:pressthe“4”button

6. PROGRAMMING (continued):

Thisframeisdesignedtogotoitsminimumandmaximumheights,allowingforthewidestpos-siblerange.Ifyouprefertochangethesettingstoamorenarrowrange,followthesesteps:

MakesurethepowerisONandanumberreadsintheLEDdisplay(ifnonumberappears,pleasefollowtheResetproceduredescribedintheTROUBLESHOOTINGsectionbelow). To Set the Upper-Limit Position: UsetheUP/DOWNbuttonstomovetheframetothedesiredmaximumheightposition.MakesuretheUPbuttonwasthelastbuttonyoupushed.Pressandholdthe“M”buttonuntiltheLEDdisplayflashes“S-”onceandletgoofthebuttonThenpressandreleasethebutton2moretimesinquicksuccession.TheLEDdisplaywillchangeto“999”onthethirdpush,andthenautomaticallyreturntotheselectedheight.Thenewupperlimitisnowset.

To Set the Lower-Limit Position: UsetheUP/DOWNbuttonstomovetheframetothedesiredminimumheightposition.MakesuretheDOWNbuttonwasthelastbuttonyoupushed.Pressandholdthe“M”but-tonuntiltheLEDdisplayflashes“S-”onceandletgoofthebutton.Thenpressandre-leasethebutton2moretimesinquicksuccession.TheLEDdisplaywillchangeto“000”onthethirdpush,andthenautomaticallyreturntotheselectedheight.Thenewlowerlimitisnowset.

To Remove the Upper/Lower Limit Positions: UsetheUPorDOWNbuttontomovethedesktoanynewposition.Pressandholdthe“M”buttonuntiltheLEDdisplayflashes“S-”onceandletofthebutton.Thenpressandreleasethebuttoninsuccessionuntilthedisplaychangesto“555”(ignoreanyinterimreadings).Afterafewseconds,thedisplaywillautomaticallychangebacktothenum-beredheightposition.Theupperandlowerlimitsarenowremoved.

ARESETprocedurerequiresthedeskframetofullyretract(beyondanylowerlimitset).Pleaseensurethatyouhavetheproperclear-

ancebelowthedeskframe.

Aftertheupperandlowerlimitsareset,thepreviousmemorypositions(l,2,3,4)maybeoutsidethenewrangeofmovement.Ifso,simplyresetthememorypositions.

Ifyouattempttoreviseapreviouslysetupperorlowerlimitanditisoutsideoftheexistingrange,youwillneedtoremovethepreviouslysetupper/lowerlimitsfirst.

7. TROUBLESHOOTING

--Reset Instructions--

IfexperiencingerrormessagesshowingontheKeypadornoresponsewhentryingtoraiseorlower:

• UnplugthepowercordandholdtheDOWNbuttonfor30seconds.• Plugthepowercordbackin.• PressandholdtheDOWNbuttonontheKeypaduntilthedeskreachesitslowestheight.ReleasetheDOWNbutton.PressandholdtheDOWNbuttonagainuntiltheLEDdisplayreads“RST”orabout10seconds on non-LED keypad models. Release the DOWN button. Press and hold the DOWN button againuntilthedesklowersalittlebitmore,slightlyrisesandstops.ReleasetheDOWNbutton.Yourdeskisnowreadytouse.

• TheKeypadwillthendisplaythecurrentheight,andyoushouldbeabletooperateitnow.• Youmayneedtodothisifthedesktopiseverunpluggedorlosespower.

IftheLeypaddisplayserrormessages“Er1”through“Er13”,confirmthatallwiredconnectionsaresecure(legstocables,cablestocontrolbox).Thenperformtheresetprocedureabove.Iftheerrormessageper-sistsaftertheresetprocedureoriftheheightbetweenthelegsexceeds1.5’’stoptheresetprocedureandcontactTheHumanSolution([email protected]).

IftheKeypaddisplays“Hot”,letthebasecooldownfor20minutes.

Ifthedeskseemstobeuneven,trytheresetinstructionsabove.Ifthatdoesnotworkyoumayneedtoadjust the levelers at the bottom of the foot.
