1. Introduction

The present document describes how to upgrade firmware using “Firmware Upgrade Tool Lite VX.XX” which provided by Queclink.

2. Installations and Upgrade

The tool can run approximately in PC without any installations if the OS of PC is among the

ones listed below.

Windows 95

Windows 98

Windows 2000

Windows ME

Windows XP

Windows 7

Any upgraded version of the tool will be informed in advance and provided by Queclink.

3. Firmware

Flash Type will be selected automatically based on model name. Flash Type: NOR The firmware package which provided by Queclink contains three files:

.txt file: the scatter files to describe layout of the firmware image on memory.

database file: used in the data Tool.

.bin file: the firmware image file.

Flash Type: NAND (For example: GT500) The firmware package which provided by Queclink contains six files:

One txt file: the scatter file to describe layout of the firmware image on memory.

Three ROM file:the firmware image file.

Two BOOTLADER file:the bootload image file.

4. Introduction of the Tool

The tool is used to upgrade firmware which provided by Queclink. It works as following steps: Step1: Select the .txt scatter file corresponding to the .bin file. Step2: Choose the correct serial port and baud rate. Step3: Click Start Step4: Set the device into download mode. (Make sure the terminal is power off.)

The following describes the detail of using the upgrade tool.

4.1. Introduction of the UI

The figure 1 shows the main interface of the tool. This tool supports many model names to upgrade firmware, such as GT300/GL200/GV100/GV200/CP100/GA100/GT500/GV55/GV320/GV35 etc. Please select the correct model name as shown in figure 2.

Note: There are two choices in the Operation

, the one is default named “Upgrade Firmware and Clear User Data” and the other one “Upgrade Firmware Only” is reserved which customer can ignore.

4.1.1. Configuration

A) Port According to the connection between PC and terminal, select the right serial port as figure 3.

B) Baud rate Choose an appropriate baud rate. Please refer to figure 4. Queclink

Note: The maximal baud rate of standard serial cable is 115200, and the USB Serial cable is 460800.

C) Get Debug Log File This function is used for more information, the customer can ignore it.

4.1.2. Files setting

Click Set Scat

button to select the scatter file. The tool will match the .bin file in the same folder automatically after selected correct scatter file. Dialogue frames are shown in figure 5, figure 6 and figure 7.

Note: GT500 little difference with other model names, the tool will match the .bin file and BOOTLOADER file in the same folder automatically after selected correct scatter file. Dialogue frames are shown in figure 7.

4.1.3. Start button

Firstly click the StartSecondly Plug the USB data cable to terminal and wait for the response. The upgrade tool will finish the rest steps by itself.

The progress bars on the right of Start

DA Percent

button indicates the progress of upgrading firmware and shows the time expire of upgrading. There are several steps in the progress of upgrading firmware.

Note: To make sure the tool runs successfully, follow ing preparations must be done in advance:

Link PC and module correctly Choose the correct serial port and baud rate Choose the right file to be upgraded

4.1.4. Stop button

Click the StopWarning:

button to stop upgrading. The tool will ind icate as shown in figure 14.

If the upgrade process is interrupted, there would be no valid firmware in the module. So it is strongly recommended never to stop the firmware upgrade process.

4.2. Abnormalities

The wrong parameter of Port and Baud rate, the damaged EVB and module, the incorrect file, etc. may lead to abnormalities as following.

A) Wrong parameter of Port If the port is occupied or data cable is not connected, may appear the following screenshot situation.

B) Wrong parameter of Baud rate Upgrade software need to select the correct baud rate，if you choose the wrong baud rate may occur the following conditions

C) Upgrade with Incorrect File Path The upgrade software need to select the files placed in the correct path, otherwise it will go wrong，For example the correct path of the software is E:\ProjectCase\Queclink_Firmware_Upgrade__V1.25test\GT500\GT500R00A01V13M512_HYNIX.bin,you chooses the other path to the file does not exist. The situation in Figure 16 may occur.

D) Upgrade with Incorrect File In the process of upgrading, select the wrong file to upgrade will not succeed, such as you want to upgrade the GT500 terminal equipment, but your choice is GA100 software upgrade package, will appear the following conditions

E) Power supply or USB Abnormal In the process of upgrading, if the data cable and the computer is disconnected, or disconnect the data lines and terminal equipment, the upgrade is unsuccessful; there will be the following situation. Dialogue frames are shown in figure 18 and figure 19.

F) Flash type does not match If firmware selected in upgrade tool and flash type do not match, there will be fail as Figure 20. Suc h as upgrading GV200 which flash type is TOSHIBA, and using GV200 NMX firmware in upgrade tool, fail frames are shown in figure 20 as “Failed to Match Flash Type”. Note: If you are not clear for the flash type in your device, please contact with Queclink technical support.
