A multimedia journalist whose focus is on photojournalism, I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso. I am bilingual and have a unique sense for journalism coming from my bicultural home of El Paso, TX. I adapt to any task required of me, which is a skill I picked up through various freelancing experiences. I am currently a student in the UTEP Bilingual Creative Writing Residential MFA, teach undergraduate first year composition classes, and write and photograph for different media outlets/publications.

Employment History

August 2019- Present First Year Composition (FYC) Instructor The secondary phase of my teaching assistantship which I was awarded for my graduate studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, I began work as a professor in the FYC program, teaching two classes of 25 students. The course focuses on using digital medias to learn how to make informed and logical arguments to communicate effectively. August 2018- May 2019 University Writing Consultant As part of teaching assistantship I was awarded for my graduate studies, I worked an entire academic year consulting at UTEP’s writing center. This entailed tutoring students with their writing assignments and beyond. I read over and edited from scholarship applications, essays, short stories, and everything else in between including a few Doctoral dissertations.

March 2016- Present Con Safos Magazine Con Safos is a local magazine that a friend and I created in order to show our hometown of El Paso in an authentic light, as opposed to the negative disillusioned narrative it has been given in mainstream media. While we adhere to journalistic norms, our writing and mentality is focused on creative nonfiction. When I started this magazine, we had to find freelance writers, create logos or other materials to start marketing, create a website, start interviews, start writing content, and editing.

February 2015- July 2016 El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Intern Women’s Business Border Center, WBBC Minority Business Development Agency, MBDA Membership Department Starting off as an intern only assisting with clerical work, filling out forms and other paperwork, I was hired after three months to fill in in different departments at the chamber as help was required. From writing award nominations and packets for the MBDA, to event coordinating, to filing, to running social media accounts, to doing deliveries

and even selling memberships, I learned to work in many departments and adapt to all that what was asked of me.

August 2015- January 2016 Bordersenses Magazine Social Media Intern Oversaw social media accounts for the literary magazine. I looked for specific poetry to post, interacted with those commenting on the posts, posted daily photos of literary “memes” or humorous photos.
