schoolteacher, recently retired from a
career in the insurance industry.

board. He is currently the
minister of hospitality at Calvary
Missionary Church in Livonia, MI. He
and his wife, Rose (Null ‘62) Hewett,
have four children.

Wilson (‘90) is a

administrator of
the Alternative
School in
Plymouth, IN.
He is a member of
the Indiana Association
of School Principals, the National
Association of Elementary School
Principals, Kiwanis and Optimist clubs.
He is actively involved in his church as a
coordinator for Sunday school teachers,
an Awana leader and an usher. He and
his wife, Karen, are the parents of two
children.

David (’55) and Mary (Kile ’55)Carr celebrated their 50th weddinganniversary this past summer. Theywere married on August 5, 1950 atZion Missionary Church in Elkhartby Rev. H. E. Miller and Rev. D.Paul Huffman. David retired after41 years at Miles Laboratories,Elkhart, IN as a skilled generalmaintenance man. Mary retiredafter 23 years as an elementaryschool secretary at BeardsleyElementary School. David served as music director for BethanyMissionary Church for 23 years andas an adult Sunday school teacherfor nearly 50 years. The couple nowserves on the North Central DistrictJ.O.Y. Committee and heads theprogram at Bethany Church. Theyhave three children and sevengrandchildren.

(’72) is the senior pastor ofMidland First United MethodistChurch, Midland, MI, the secondlargest United Methodist Church inthe state of Michigan. He was a dis-trict superintendent for five years inAnn Arbor, MI prior to assumingthe pastorate to Midland in 1998.His wife, Marlene, is a kindergartenteacher.
Charles Keller (’75) is theassociate pastor at CalvaryMissionary Church, Livonia, MI,where he leads both the studentministries and the praise team. Herecently completed a life goal ofrunning in the Detroit Free PressMarathon. His wife, Deborah(Loblaw ’76), is a piano teacherand accompanies a variety ofmusical activities for Mercy HighSchool. She is also active in themusic and student activities atchurch. Their oldest daughter,Jennifer, is currently a student atBethel.
In 1999 the Rev. Philip Mullen(’79) founded Ascension AnglicanLutheran Church. The congrega-tion now meets in a public park aspart of an evangelical outreach.Rev. In MemoryThe Rev. Dr. Robert Bruce Church (’61) passed away on
April 30, 2000. Robert left a great legacy at the rural U.C.C.church where he was the pastor for ten years. Following Robert’sdeath, his wife, Karen, served as the interim pastor until theirdaughter and son-in-law were chosen to assume the pastorate.Rev. and Mrs. Church both received the HL.D. honorary degree,and three ordinations. Marie (Sinke ’73) Kroon passedaway on November 8, 2000. A teacherand principal for 29 years, Marieserved at Christian schools inLafayette, IN and Midland, MI. Shealso worked in the Bethel Collegelibrary. She is survived by her husband,James Kroon, Bethel College professor emeritus, and daughters, Ruth Simsand Mary (Kroon ’76) Brown.
Billie Jo Garner (’62) passed away November 17, 2000. She was born on March 9, 1937. From the early ’70s to 1998 she made her home in Kodiak, Alaska. During her lifetime, Billie Josponsored nine Korean children until their 18th birthdays.
Alice Nordgren passed away on February 19, 2001 atHubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart, IN. She retired from teaching in1974 from the Port Huron, MI school system and gave privatepiano lessons. Alice is survived by a son, Elliott Nordgren (’55),Bethel College professor emeritus, and two daughters, Betty(Nordgren ’57) Bennett and Eileen (Nordgren ’67) Hoke.
Dorothy Taylor (’69), wife of Bethel College professor emeri-tus Dr. Stanley Taylor, passed away February 23, 2001 at FloridaHospital in Orlando while the couple was wintering in AvonPark, FL. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daugh-ter Marilyn Yoder; son Dale; threegrandchildren; four great-grandchil-dren and a sister, Miriam Long. Abrother, Robert Litten, preceded her indeath. Mrs. Taylor taught in the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. untilretiring in 1982. She was a member ofCedar Road Missionary Church,Osceola, IN and assisted her husbandas curator of the Bowen Collection atBethel College.
