Spare uniforms needed We are in desperate need of any spare clothing for the pool in the office. We are mainly looking for sizes 4 to 14. If you have any second hand, clean, in good condition school shirts, shorts or skorts please send them into the office.
If your child comes home wearing a borrowed item of clothing please wash and return it to the office as soon as possible. Thank you.
Mr Regan and Mr Wetherall who accompanied our students on the camp. Accompanying students on camp is a rewarding experience but exhausting and staff leave their own families and homes to provide our students with these opportunities and this is greatly appreciated by all.
I was also lucky enough to visit our Year 2 students who have been participating in the Intensive Swimming Program over the past two weeks. The instructors of the program were impressed with our students’ progress and behaviour during the program. Swimming is a skill for life and it was fantastic to see our students engaging so positively in the experience.
Our final Early Birds session for the year was held on Friday. It is always exciting to see a new group of students start their formal education filled with enthusiasm and anticipation. I wish all Kindergarten 2018 students and their families a long and happy association with Tweed Heads Public School. Thanks to all the staff and presenters from outside agencies who have contributed to the program and provided a valuable experience for students and parents. Our final event on the Early birds calendar will be the Early Birds Concert on Friday 24
th November.
All Public Schools in NSW are currently in the process of formulating their School Plans for 2018 - 2020. Tweed Heads Public School is engaging in consultation with the school community to formulate our strategic directions for the next 3 years. Several opportunities will be provided to community members to provide feedback over the next few weeks. Surveys were sent home today with the newsletter seeking thoughts and opinions about our school. Surveys need to be returned by Friday 17
th November and they will be entered into a draw to win a $50 Toyworld voucher. Some
families may also be contacted by teachers asking for individual feedback during this week.
A community afternoon tea will be held at school on Tuesday 21st November at 2pm to provide an additional opportunity
for families to engage in the consultation process. Parents/Carers of Indigenous students and New Zealand families are invited to attend a Yarn Up and Hui on Thursday 23
rd November commencing at 10.00am in the school hall. Please
come along, have a cuppa and share your ideas about our school into the future.
Last week all students were surveyed within their classes and we are now in the process of collating this data to include in our strategic direction planning. We would appreciate your participation in this consultation process to ensure we capture the thoughts and ideas of as many community members as possible to ensure we are providing the best possible education for the students at Tweed Heads PS into the future.
I received notification last week that Mr Peter Nichols has been appointed to the Principal position at Tweed Heads PS to start in 2018. I would like to congratulate Peter on his appointment and wish him well as he leads the school into the future. I will continue to relieve as Principal until the end of the school year, working with school staff to develop the 2018 - 2020 School Plan and ensuring that the visions of students, staff and school community are included in the plan.
