welcome
From the desk of the Principal
Message from the Administration Team
This month has been full of great things happening at our school. We have been fortunate enough to see a musical anti- bullying presentation by two very vibrant young men and they left a lasting impression on the students in grades 4- 8. The primary students had an awesome experience participating in the Rocks and Rings fun in the gym, where each student had the opportunity to learn the fundamen-tals of curling. Each child had many laughs and it sparked a new interest in the sport for some of our students. Recently, we said Good- Bye to Mr. Ceci who was at our school for 9 weeks as our Vice-Principal. He was quick to make good connections with students and staff and we will miss his positive attitude. We would like to welcome Mrs. Lehne as our new Vice- Principal. She is excited to get started and meet lots of familiar faces and new people on her journey at Plymouth. If you see her, please give her a big Plymouth welcome. We are thrilled to have her join our team. We want to say thank you to our caring staff, amazing volunteers, and supportive parents for all that they do to encourage our students with their learning. Plym-outh is a great place for students to learn and make new friends. We are very proud of our students and their achievements. Congratulations to all the students that made the Junior Basketball teams this month. What a great opportunity to develop our young athletes and our future sports teams. Parental support in student achievement makes a huge difference in a child’s de-velopment. Your efforts and suggestions are always appreciated.

Plymouth School Electronics Expectations Context: Electronic devices, such as iPods and cell phones have become a mainstay in today’s society, for youth and adults. It is important that school life reflects what is happening in society. These devices can be useful tools in the classroom in that they can be used for such things as web browsing, information sharing, voice recording, calculating, and so on. More and more teachers are incorporating the use of students’ handheld devices into their classes as an integral part of teaching and learning. Our hope is that providing students with the opportunity and framework to utilize these devices in a positive, responsible way at school will increase the likelihood of responsible use after school hours. Each child has access to IPods, Netbooks, desktop computers and a SMART board in each classroom to meet their technology needs while at school for instructional purposes. Expectations: Electronic devices (iPods and cell phones) can be brought to school, but only be used in classrooms at teacher discretion. All electronics must be locked in their locker or stored in a locked cupboard provid-ed in the classroom. No cell phones should be in pockets or carried on them at any time during school hours. Children will be allowed to take their devices with them if they are going home for lunch or going out for lunch. When they return to school the device needs to be secured in a locker or cupboard again. Teacher directed usage: At times, teachers will give permission to students to access calculator, music, internet access etc.. Accessing social media sites at school is not permitted unless required by a teach-er. Inappropriate Use:
Not following teacher instructions/classroom rules. Using the device in a negative way towards others Absolutely no photos/videos without teacher permission
Progressive Consequences for Inappropriate Use:
The first instance will result in the device being held by the teacher for the day and it will be re-turned at the end of that day. Parents will be notified.
The second instance will result in an office referral and held at the office for the day; parents will be contacted.
The third instance will result in loss of the privilege for a period of time (the length will depend on the circumstances), the cell phone will be kept at the office for the day and parents will be noti-fied to pick up the cell phone at the office.
Any incident deemed serious enough could result in the immediate loss of this privilege for an extended period of time.
Other:
Parents are asked to contact the school office to communicate with their children as opposed to texting them during class time.
• As we are not mandating that students bring electronic devices to school, they do so at their own risk. The school assumes no responsibility for damage, loss, etc.
