UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE BEng (Hons) Building Services and Sustainable Engineering Registration Number (Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance): 252295 PROGRAMME OVERVIEW This programme has been specifically developed for students who have successfully completed the approved VTC Higher Diploma programmes in Building Services Engineering and who wish to develop their career further by completing a BEng (Hons) in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering. The BEng (Hons) Building Services and Sustainable Engineering programme emphasises the application of modern, sustainable, and energy efficient engineering systems in the context of the Built Environment. The programme in the UK is well respected and widely recognised within the building services industry in Britain and abroad and is accredited by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Energy Institute (EI). In 2013, the programme celebrated its silver jubilee having been in operation for 25 years. This degree comprises six Level 6 (UK system) modules delivered locally in Hong Kong with a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials with input provided by both VTC and University of Central Lancashire staff in all six modules. The lecture material is similar to that provided in the UK but contextualised with a Hong Kong focus, drawing on the best practice from both locations. Systems Design Plant and Maintenance Design Project 3 Intelligent Buildings Alternative Energy Technology Engineering Dissertation MODULE This programme is delivered in part-time mode and is normally delivered in 18 months of study. The programme structure is listed as follows: ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A VTC Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering. Applicants with Higher Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Professional Diploma or Associate Degree in Building Services Engineering from a recognised local tertiary education will be considered on a case-by-case basis. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE With the history of over 180 years, University of Central Lancashire has developed an international reputation for its high quality teaching in the UK and overseas and this was recognised in 2013 with the award of a 5-star rating in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. The University has been consistently rated as a top modern university within the North West Region for a number of years and in 2013 the University achieved an overall satisfaction rating of 84% in the National Student Survey. In the Guardian University Guide for 2015 the school achieved an overall student satisfaction of 92% placing us 7 th out of 41 universities in the sector. For applicants where English is not their first language or where their diploma/degree has not been studied in the English language, a score of at least 6.0 on IELTS (or equivalent) is required.

ASSESSMENTAssessment is based on coursework, unseen examination, project work and the completion of a dissertation.
