THE FUND As part of the University Club of Grand Rapids’ effort to give back to the West Michigan
community, the Club created a Scholarship Fund in 2010. It is the goal of the Scholarship Commi2ee to
help students gain career roots in West Michigan and to keep these educated, bright and ambi�ous
poten�al future leaders in our community. With this goal in mind, the Scholarship Fund has been
established with the purpose of assis�ng students who express a strong desire to remain in or return to
West Michigan upon comple�on of their studies.
THE NUMBERS To date, the Fund has given scholarships to 9 local students, totaling $7,000. We
are currently in the midst of our applica�on process and will grant three more scholarships to worthy
students this Spring. Being that our Scholarship is renewable for three addi�onal years, we will gi9
$5,000 in April bringing our grand total of giving to $12,000!
THE NEED As a fledging fund, we need your help. A9er reaching our first goal of $100,000, we are
more determined than ever! Please consider joining our gracious donors (see below) and donate to the
Fund! You can also join us at our upcoming Scholarship Events to support the cause!

You can improve your physical performance as well as reduce injury with an effective Blexibility routine.Stretchingimprovesyourrangeofmotion,providesmoreBlexibilityinthejoints,andallowsyoutouselessenergy
tomakethesamemovements;thisalllessensyourlikelihoodofinjury.
Researchhasshownthatstretchingcanreducemusclesorenessafterexercise. Slowstaticstretching,graduallyelongating themuscles, and taking them through it’s full range ofmotion, can improvemuscularbalanceandyourposture.
Oneof thegreatestbeneBitsof stretching is that itpromotesrelaxationofthemuscles and that relaxation canlessenlowerbackpain.BecomingmoreBlexibleinthehamstrings,hipBlexors,quadricepsandothermusclescanhelpreducethatstressonthelowerbackandreducethetighteningthatcausespain.
