Grace and Peace be unto you UNITED,
We have a Heavenly Father who is more than enough to feed the desperation of our souls. Because of who He is we praise His Holy and Marvelous Name! As we continue in this month of March, may we rest in the presence of the Lord and walk in the great authority of Christ. We thank the Lord for positioning us to do great works for the Kingdom and for His glory as we stand UNITED.
As you prepare for our National Holy Convocation, stay abreast of what the Lord is doing in our various ministries in preparation for our corporate gathering. Everything leads up to a powerful Encounter set for July 15-17 in the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Greetings UNITED family!! I pray last edition’s writing blessed you and caused you to
consider the altar again. Growing up as a “church baby”, I’ve always loved being in the temple. I
was always fascinated by the splendor of the sacred things in the temple. I loved first Sundays
watching the Elders and Deacons handle the communion table. I loved how the offering table was
TABLE TALK
Many of our lives’ most sacred moments have transpired at or around a table. We sit at a table to eat, meet and be educated. The table is the promoter and silent witness of conversations long gone by. We see the table present throughout scripture and its significance in biblical culture. If I were to pull out my favorite reference of the table in the bible it would undoubtedly be found in Luke 14. In this chapter, we find a lot of talking going on at the table. It is the talk that takes place in verses 16-24 that are most profound to me. Jesus tells the parable of the great supper. He tells of those that were on the “original guest list”; those who had been considered and now consider themselves more highly than they ought. When he issues the invitation, he tells them to “Come for all things are now ready”. Excuses begin to fly for why they could not show up as requested. It is here at this point where there is a sudden shift in the cast of characters and those who would now become “major players”, in other words heaven issues a casting call for you and for I. See in the next few verses the invitation list is altered. An invitation is issued to the unlikeliest of candidates to come and sit at a table with a “certain man” who had the capacity to throw a great feast.
The invitation is now issued to a people who the world would never expect to see seated at a table of prominence. People whose life dictated struggle and whose stories are filled with hardship and despair. A people who were used to not being able
so meticulously prepared at offering time. The pageantry of the church was just always simply so spectacular,
particularly those things that happened at or around a table. I quickly grew to learn that the table was a sacred
place in the church, in our home and in our communities.
to see, to speak or to move, in one moment with one invitation now find themselves at a table where GREAT things are
going on!! The great man begins to fill the seats of his house with the poor, the maimed, the halted, the blind and with
those found forsaken on the highways and in the hedges of life. He fills the seats with those willing to COME to the table
as and when he called. They came willingly, hungry, ready to feast on word and food. They had no idea what was in store
for them, but what they did know was that a great man was calling for them!! They knew that a table and a seat were
made ready for them!! They knew that this moment may never come again and this was not an opportunity to be
missed!!
Do you hear what I hear!!?? A great man, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, has issued an invitation. In a day where
the church has forsaken many of our foundational landmarks, He’s inviting us back!! He’s inviting us back to the altar to
commune and cry out before Him. He’s inviting us to a worship experience with Him unlike anything we’ve seen in our
lifetime. He’s inviting us to His table where He has prepared for us a most favorable feast. On His table is broken and
shed before us the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. He has set a table before us that so many have rejected. The
call of the invitation is “Come and Dine, the MASTER is calling!” While we are awaiting the table in the presence of our
enemies, there is another great and fascinating table awaiting your arrival!! And at this table we feast with our KING!!
