A Health Post for Muadja UMC
Dear Friends: We are holding our Christmas Offering open
through January 8th to give everyone a chance to contribute to
building a Health Post at our covenant church in Muadja,
Mozambique. There is no health care at all available in Muadja.
But if we will build the Health Post, the government of Mozam-
bique will provide a resident nurse for maternity, emergencies,
and health education. Please do what you can to help provide
health for the people of Muadja, Mozambique.
God Squad students invites you to help spread the Love to our community by bringing:
“Socks of Love” Here’s how you can help:
Please bring your gifts to church and put it in one of the desig-nated tubs in the lobby before February 12, 2017. We intend to deliver the Socks of Love on February 15, 2017.
Thanks for helping us to spread love to our community.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a patient at HMC and would like a
pastoral staff member visit …., please call the church office at
646-2580. Thank you, The Editor
COVENANT BIBLE STUDY
STUDY BEGINS JANUARY 12TH
ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN
The second 8-session segment of our 2016-17 Covenant
Bible Study experience for adults will meet on Thursdays
from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 204, beginning January
12th. Pastor John Rice will be one of our group leaders.
Everyone is welcome. We particularly encourage those
who have not yet experienced the Covenant Bible Study
program to please email Pastor John personally to enroll
or inquire, [email protected], or call Jennifer at the
church office, 646-2580.
This study is titled “Living the Covenant.” Covenant is the
unique relationship God chooses to have with us as God’s
people. This relationship is grounded in the faithfulness
of God’s love, and our on-going commitment to stay in
love with God. “Living the Covenant” focuses on how we
live out our commitment to faithfully love in all our relation-
ships.
We’re excited about the impact Covenant Bible Study has
had on our congregation. It is providing an intentional
faith development experience for adults at UMCC.
Covenant Bible Study is for:
Those who are newly engaging the Christian Faith.
Those who are renewing their faith.
Those who want to more clearly discern the Biblical
message of Christ and the covenant of faith we
share with God.
The goal of Covenant Bible Study is to cultivate lifelong
trust in God and help us discover the Bible as a friend for
life. CBS is based on the simple truth that we live well
when we love well.

Thank you! The only words you hear during this time of the
year spoken more often than, “Merry Christ-
mas”, “Happy New Year”, and “Happy Holidays”
is “Thank You”. This season really seems to bring out the
“THANK YOU” from everyone. It may be caused by some
small gift received. Maybe even a single kind word will get
such a response. Everything seems to be worth a thank you.
This is how it ought to always be, giving thanks for what there
is for us to be thankful.
We are all blessed. Hospitals remind me of the blessings of
health. The Bell Ringer outside the store reminds me of the
blessing of enough food and shelter. The person in the cold
walking down the street reminds me of the blessing of trans-
portation and warm clothing. We are so blessed. Yet, it is so
much more than the outward things.
Carols and Christmas songs remind me of those things which
God has done for us. A child is given to us and for us by the
great love of the Father for us. A child so special and yet, a
child who was born just like every other. This is the child who
was born to teach us to love and live in the way that leads to
life everlasting. This child is the one who looked beyond the
ways of the Earth and kept turning toward God the Father.
This child is Jesus the Christ.
The great love of the Father that is shown by the gift of the Son
is our gift. We have said thank you, but is it enough to just be
thankful? Somehow it just doesn’t seem to be enough. It
seems to me that we need to respond in a much more full way
even to offer the gift of all that we have and all that we are.
We can celebrate the great gift that was given to us by giving
ourselves to Jesus. Even the Jesus born in Bethlehem so
long ago.
Thank you for all you do in Jesus name,
Pastor Randy
