Thank you! The only words you hear during this time of the

year spoken more often than, “Merry Christ-

mas”, “Happy New Year”, and “Happy Holidays”

is “Thank You”. This season really seems to bring out the

“THANK YOU” from everyone. It may be caused by some

small gift received. Maybe even a single kind word will get

such a response. Everything seems to be worth a thank you.

This is how it ought to always be, giving thanks for what there

is for us to be thankful.

We are all blessed. Hospitals remind me of the blessings of

health. The Bell Ringer outside the store reminds me of the

blessing of enough food and shelter. The person in the cold

walking down the street reminds me of the blessing of trans-

portation and warm clothing. We are so blessed. Yet, it is so

much more than the outward things.

Carols and Christmas songs remind me of those things which

God has done for us. A child is given to us and for us by the

great love of the Father for us. A child so special and yet, a

child who was born just like every other. This is the child who

was born to teach us to love and live in the way that leads to

life everlasting. This child is the one who looked beyond the

ways of the Earth and kept turning toward God the Father.

This child is Jesus the Christ.

The great love of the Father that is shown by the gift of the Son

is our gift. We have said thank you, but is it enough to just be

thankful? Somehow it just doesn’t seem to be enough. It

seems to me that we need to respond in a much more full way

even to offer the gift of all that we have and all that we are.

We can celebrate the great gift that was given to us by giving

ourselves to Jesus. Even the Jesus born in Bethlehem so

long ago.

Thank you for all you do in Jesus name,

Pastor Randy
