Activating Background Knowledge

• Take the next 5-10 minutes and turn your cover page into a background knowledge concept web.

• Write down/visualize anything and everything you can think of that has to do the Hebrews and/or the Phoenicians.

• If you have trouble, use these vocab terms to activate your background knowledge:

social justice

• Let's review the questions we will attempt to answer as we go through this unit.

On the next page in your notebook:

• Create a T-chart

• Label the left side "QUESTIONS I HAVE"

• Label the right side "INTERESTING TOPICS/IDEAS"

• We will watch a documentary about the Ancient Hebrews.

• As you watch, jot down at least 3 questions you have and at least 3 interesting topics/ideas you learn.

At your tables...

• As a table group look over your list of questions and topics and create a Master List of possible research questions and topics on the Ancient Hebrews.

• After we generate our table lists, we will share them as a class to create a Class list of research topics.

• From the class list of questions/topics we have created, choose the top 3 you be most interested in researching and learning more about and write them on your index card.
