Celador ownershipThey have made 8 films.

Paul Smith is CBE. Jasper Carrott was the founder. They worked together to set this up in 1983.

Danielle Lux is managing director.

They were brought by Complete Communications.

They then brought themselves back from the money they made from films and are independent again.

Operating ModelCelador is a small movie making company.

They work by a project by project basis hiring people to do jobs to make the project, this is known as a freelance crew.

Celador use co-funding from big companies to go and make the film. They made it using previous profit.

With Descent, Celador worked with Pathe to make this film. Distribution rights were sold to Pathe to fund the film.

Originally when they were established there funding was through bank loans, private investment and film funding bodies.

Products They have made 8 films ; Selma 2014, Centurion 2010, The

Scouting Book for Boys 2009, The Descent part 2 2009, Slumdog Millionaire 2008, Separate Lies 2005, The Descent 2005, Dirty Pretty Things 2002.

They have made TV Shows; All About Me, The Detectives, You Are What You Eat.

They also have radio networks, The Breeze, Jack FM, Fire Radio.

They have had a Celador Theatrical company was established in 1989 but only made successful 2009. In 2012 they made a musical version of Slumdog Millionaire.

They also have a music company that was made in 2003. It is called Lusam Music.

Market Position/Competitors

Film 4 – Attack The Block- budget=£13million – Profit-£1.05 million

Sony Entertainment- The Amazing Spiderman-budget=$230Million – Profit- $262million

DNA Films- Dredd- budget=$50million – Profit- $13.4 million

Celador – The Descent- budget= £3.5million – Profit - £2.7million

Compared to Film 4, The Descent had lower budgets but made a higher profit. As you can see American based films have larger budgets and higher profits. Celador will be unable to compete against Sony and DNA Films.
