Control over super-critical region
• Prior to R450:
- No obvious indication if stream was in the dense phase
- No control over where the super-critical region appeared
- No choice over phase types used for property calculations
Algorithm described in KB 342
What does the reported vapour fraction mean for a stream in the dense phase?
• R450 gives: (for PR and SRK only) on Parameters2 tab of Fluid Package
- Control over where super-critical region is predicted
- Possibility to override phase type (all or by property – Density, Visc,
Them. Cond.)
- Switchable warning messages

Taskbar icon displays solver status
• When UniSim Design is solving the Taskbar icon shows differently.
- Steady State or Dynamics
• For increased performance (e.g. over Citrix/RDP) can minimize but
still keep track of status.

Workbook
• Quickly add H&MB / Equipment Summaries to Workbook then PFD

PFD Table Format Copy/Paste
• Quickly copy/paste formats between PFD tables
- Copies Font, Colour, Options between tables
- PFD can then be copied to the clipboard for reuse

Dealing with long lists – Find Row / Column
• Right click option on long lists (5 or more entries)
- Then ‘type to jump to’
• E.g. Workbook, Stream Properties page,
• Display units Compositions
11
Particularly useful
with ‘show
Indices…’
Preferences option

PFD Shift+K Hot Key – Change Calc Levels
• Hot Keys covered in previous UC Days, find list at
Help – Hot Key List – PFD
• e.g. F2 to change object names
• Existing Shift + L Hot Key shows calc levels instead of names
Press 3 times for streams/ops/both
• Use new Shift+K Hot Key to change levels for objects which are
selected

Automatically note user spec. changes
• User may make notes on any object (covered in 2014 UC Day)
• Notes manager available on Flowsheet menu (or Ctrl + G)
• R450 adds a way to automatically note spec changes
- Stream, unit op, fluid package

Unit set changes in Preferences in R450
• The Variables tab has some new options in R450
- (Default) set is used when UniSim Design is opened
- User will be prompted if case ‘Preferred’ set is different
14
• Set current
set as usual
• Set (Default)
set by right
clicking
• Set Preferred set
• See which sets
are saved with
case

Spreadsheets
• Covered in previous UC Days:
- Range formula, insert rows/columns, copy/paste formulae, absolute
references ($), write formulae by clicking, Strings in If function
- Add multiple variables (using Navigator)
• New for R450
- Object Names / Descriptions via Copy Special
- <empty> handling
- <INPERR> indication for broken imports

Spreadsheets - Copy Special
• Two new options added for R450
- Variables with Descriptions
- Offset Labels – used to get component names
17

<empty> and <INPERR>
• In R450 <empty> cells within a range (formula) make the formula
results show <empty>
- In R440 they would be treated as zero
• Cells where there was an imported value whose object has now
been deleted show as <INPERR>
- Clear by selecting cell and hitting Delete

Unit Op Delta T / Delta P
• Unit Op improvements

Column XML Import / Export
• A means to export Profiles/Estimates/Specs from one to column to
another
- E.g. ‘Same’ column in different variants of the same case
