Union Visioning 2019
Union Visioning
About the study...As an integral part of the University's educational mission, the Wyoming Union fosters a
sense of community by providing quality programs, services and facilities that promote
development, embrace diversity, and cultivate loyalty to the University. The Wyoming
Union provides a nurturing environment within which students are encouraged to pursue
excellence, to develop leadership, and to realize their potential. Home to many cultural
and leadership programs and events, the Wyoming Union plays a key role in
accomplishing many of the goals in Breaking Through: 2017-2022.
The Wyoming Union is in high-demand for meeting, programming, and oce space. A
long-term vision is needed to make sure renovation dollars are eciently spent and top
strategic initiatives around enrollment, food service, and student engagement are
prioritized appropriately. The Wyoming Union is the living room for students on and
o-campus and needs professional guidance for its growth and management.
Who is conducting the study...Mackey Mitchell Architects, working with the Sasaki Consulting Group, will be leading
the study of the Wyoming Union. The study will occur in partnership with the campus
master plan and occur in the spring, summer, and fall of 2019. The study will begin at the
end of February. The MMA team will review existing building and prior study
documentation, facilitate and support programming and visioning. Over the course of
2-3 days on campus, the MMA team will facilitate a visioning and programming
workshop, and prepare summary findings.
