PRAYAGRAJ : The Allahabad high

court has directed the district

magistrate and the chairman,

district legal services authority of

Chitrakoot, to probe the alleged

forced sexual exploitation of

minor girls from tribal families

working in illegal mines in that

district for survival and submit

their separate reports by July 28.

The bench comprising chief

justice Govind Mathur and jus-

tice SD Singh passed the order

while taking cognizance of an

email sent by a Delhi- based law-

yer Dr Abhishek Atrey.

The e-mail, addressed to the

chief justice of Allahabad high

court, was treated as a petition for

writ in public interest by the

bench headed by the chief justice.

Citing media reports in con-

nection with the alleged sexual

abuse of minor girls in Chitrak-

oot, serious allegations were also

levelled pertaining to the viola-

tion of Child Labour (Prohibition

and Regulation) Act, 1986.

As per some media reports,

minor girls from poor tribal fami-

lies are forced to work in illegal

mines for survival but the con-

tractors and middlemen don’t

pay their wages easily. These

girls are allegedly forced to trade

off their bodies for getting their

meagre wages. The court has

directed its registry to send a

notice of petition to DM and chair-

man, district legal services

authority and fixed July 28 as

next date of hearing in the case.

AGRA : The Agra police claimed to

have busted a sex racket that was

allegedly being run from a farm

house owned by a former BJP

functionary Ashok Rana.

The police made the claim after

arresting a dozen people includ-

ing three women and nine men

from a farm house in Sikandra

area of Agra on Friday.

Ashok Rana, who had been

BJP district unit president from

2013 to 2016, however refuted the

police claim and denied any role

in the illegal racket. While con-

firming that he continued to be in

the BJP, he said he was being

framed.

“A police team headed by addi-

tional superintendent of police

(ASP) Saurabh Dixit raided

Kamla Farm House in Sikandra

Industrial Area of Agra on Satur-

day. A man, who ran inside the

farm house on seeing cops, was

nabbed. His name was Vijay alias

BP (22),” said senior superintend-

ent of police (SSP) Agra, Babloo

Kumar during a press confer-

ence.

‘Vijay alias BP revealed that

those involved in prostitution

were present inside the farm

house. Cops raided the rooms and

arrested Sachin, Vishnu, Param,

Ravi, Vishal Goyal and agents

Pradeep alias Deepak and Ran-

veer,” said ASP Saurabh Dixit.

Police said that the sex racket was

conducted through whatsapp.

During interrogation, accused

Sachin, Param and Vishnu

revealed that they had

taken the farm house on lease

from the former BJP functionary.

The accused alleged that the

farm house owner Ashok Rana

was aware about the racket. Rana

however denied his involvement

in illegal trade and said that his

name was being dragged as part

of conspiracy.

“I own the farm house but I had

leased it to Vishal Goyal from

Kamla Nagar in 2019 and was paid

lease rent. For lockdown period

no lease rent was paid to me,” he

said.

“There has been no arrest

made from my farm house and I

am being framed. I am totally

unaware of any sex racket,” he

said.Sources said Rana also went

to meet the SSP along with a BJP

MLA on Saturday.
