UNIFORM POLICY Our uniform policy is agreed with parents and the student council. As a college we believe that uniform promotes a sense of pride and belonging. All students are to wear uniform. Uniform is not a fashion item. It is designed to be both formal and comfortable. If there are any problems please contact the college. The overall impression should be that of a well groomed individual who takes pride in their appearance. Uniform can be purchased directly from the college. Garments supplied by the college offer good value for money. The college uniform shop is open (with effect from Thursday 2 July) on a Monday and a Thursday from 12.30pm to 4.30pm. We do run a recycled uniform scheme and have good quality items of uniform for sale. We are always grateful to receive any outgrown uniform in good condition. SANCTIONS If a student is not conforming to the uniform policy he or she will be: a. required to remove the offending item if possible; b. given a verbal warning and a date to correct it by; c. a phone call and/or letter home; d. excluded internally or sent home to address the issue. Please note these are not sequential; any may be applied depending on the circumstances. Hair: Hair should be well-groomed and hair styles should be conventional and of a natural colour. Hats: Hats are allowed only in extreme weather conditions – teachers will give permission to students to wear them. Jewellery: Jewellery should be discreet and safe, no large earrings – just one pair. No rings or bracelets. Make up should be very subtle – no nail varnish. Piercing: A nose stud is permitted if it is discreet. No other visible piercings are permitted. They will have to be covered by a plaster or removed. Day wear uniform – compulsory from September 2009 for Years 7, 8, 9, 10.
