THE FALLEN CITYMicah 1:3-9• God is coming down to judge.• The sin of his people comes from

its rulers, so God will march against Jerusalem.•Micah 1:9 For her wound is

incurable, and it has come to Judah; it has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.

THE PROMISED VILLAGEMicah 5:2-4• V. 2, God would once again bring

forth a ruler from a village too small to matter.• V. 3, Israel will fall, but it will also

return.• V. 4, The new ruler will be like

David the shepherd, not David the conqueror.

UNEXPECTED GREATNESSMicah 5:4-5a• “In the strength of the LORD,” not

of man.• “In the majesty of the name of

the LORD his God,” not of man.• Security and greatness comes

from what God gives, not what man takes.• “And he shall be their peace.”

ARE WE WISE MEN?Mathew 2:1-2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

OR ARE WE SHEPHERDS?Luke 2:10-15 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” … The shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
