Mario Block

Mario Block is a school project wherein we have to “sell” an item of any fictional character. I am selling Super Mario’s Mystery Block with the idea that consumers too will be able to find a surprise inside.

One of the greatest aids in Marios adventures is the Mystery Block also popularly called the Question Block. It was named as such because nobody knows where it comes from or from who it came. Many believe it comes from a higher power but rumor has it that along with bricks and some items, Mystery Blocks are cursed toads from the Koopa clans dark magic used by the evil king himself, Bowser. The Mystery Block was also named as such because ideally nobody knows what you get in it. Originally, there are five things that could possibly come out when Mario taps the bottom part of this flashing box, namely:

Super Mushroom - enables Mario to grow into Super Mario and by doing so helping him reach higher places and break bricks that are in the way.

Fire Flower - can only be obtained if Mario is in Super Mario form. This Flower enables him to hurl fireballs at his opponents.

Beanstalk - are sometimes called the Magic Vines. They act as a ladder and grow long enough for Mario to reach secret places such as Coin Heaven and Warp Zones.

Coins - probably the most generic item. Most of the time they come in a bundle if you hit the block repeatedly.

Star - turns Mario invincible, becoming temporarily invulnerable to any damage except those tha would result in death like falling off a cliff or bridge. Enemies that come in contact with Invincible Mario are subjected to instant death or atleast thrown somewhere.

But for Marios latest development, he has taken a hold of this Mystery Block and came up with more helpful items. Super Mario Bros.is now selling Mystery blocks to citizens in need of help in their own quests.

What secrets does it hold?

Super Mario Bros.was formally established on September 13, 1985. by brothers, Mario and Luigi. This well-praised rescue company, which saved almost a hundred princesses in castles worldwide,first started out as a small time plumbing business. This quite unique service oriented business was inspired by Marios fiance, Princess Peach. Later on, Super Mario Bros. teamed up with Nintendo and turned Marios adventures into a role-playing game, producing the first selftitled, pixelated version and eventually leading to different versions of it. Although it became an effecive tool for advertising,the company as a game became more popular than the actual service it provided. The start of 2011 marks the expansion for Super Mario Bros. as they have gotten hold of the infamous Mystery Block. Also known as the Question Block, this box can be remembered as an aid in Marios rescues containing various items namely Coins, Super Mushrooms, Beanstalks, Fire Flowers and very rare Stars. Mario broadens their business by now selling Mystery Blocks to the public, with more mystery items in store. Questions about new items will be answered on the unveiling of the product to preserve the mystery as explained by the company itself Luigi, vice president of Super Mario Bros., reassures us that the company will not shift industries with their new product and will continue to provide rescue services to helpless princesses.

Instructions:

Cut all items and fold their flaps inward. Glue or tape flaps respectively. Cut the white lines very thinly (preferably using a cutter) and insert desired object through both lines. The object will appear as if it were standing.

These are two spreads of a local short story entitled, Lorena Bumbilya. This exaggerated story focuses on a little girl named Lorena, who often got teased by her peers because of her huge head and lack of hair.
