• Applies to residence hall fire safety and fire safety education

Annual Fire Safety Report Select Accomplishments
• Updated University Police’s fire alarm response policy • Collaboration with Wilmington Fire Department on fire
safety programming and education • Evaluation of Central Alarm Reporting System for best
practices
2015 Fire Safety Log
Lists all fire incidents involving injury, death, or property damage or flame outside its intended container
Two reportable fires – both in kitchen areas with frying o Grease fire, University Suite U – limited damage o Grease fire, Apartment E – resident received minor burns
Cooking alarms accounted for more than 60% of all nuisance alarms
in residential housing.
Secondary causes were mechanical or detector lifecycle expiration although e-cigarettes are on the rise.
