The functions of the Executive Board are:

To implement the policies formulated by the General Assembly and coordination and guidance from the Economic and Social Council

To receive information from and give guidance to the head of the Entity

To ensure that the activities and operational strategies are consistent with the overall policy guidance set forth by the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council.

To approve administrative and financial plans

To give inter-governmental support

To give oversight to the Entity

To supervise operational activities

THE EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERSHIP

41 members who serve on a rotating basis: 10 from the Group of African States 10 from the Group of Asia-Pacific States 4 from the Group of Eastern European States 6 from the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States 5 from the Group of Western European and Other States

(unique rotation scheme) 6 from contributing countries

The Economic and Social Council elects members to the Executive Board for a term of three years.

THE EXECUTIVE BOARD SECRETARIAT FOCAL POINT FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD MATTERS Assists the EB in:

• Overall planning Executive Board activities

• Coordinating with UN-Women substantive divisions in the preparation of relevant inputs to the Executive Board

• Advising on technical matters

• Organizing Board and Bureau meetings

• Assisting in the negotiations of outcome documents

• Preparing reports of Board sessions

• Ensuring the timely provision of documentation in official languages
