Good of the OrderRemember in your prayers our, all of our Brother Knights, our Brother Knights who are ill, as well as all of our deceased Brother Knights, and their

families. GOD BLESS ALL our Soldiers who are Protecting Our Country and their families. Remember them in your hearts and prayers.

Grand Knights MessageBrother Knights,

Brother Knights, Thank you for another fast paced, activity filled, God’s Love sharing, month!

We had remarkable weather for this year’s I.D. drive. Thank you Tom for chairing again this year. Without knowing the

actual numbers I think the locations were well received by the resid

ents and travelers. I thank everyone for their efforts. I also want to thank allour non-Knight volunteers and our brother Knights from St

Maria Goretti council for theirassistance. Please remember our church sales will be October 14Th and 15th in both

parishes. Any time you can give is greatly appreciated.

October 14-15th St Beatrice Parish is also hosting a “mission Sunday”. We will have a table to share what is means to

be a Knight. Maybe you would like to share your experience with others to help grow our council and protect

more families in the parish. We had 17 participants in the

Ave Maria Council’s Soccer Challenge. The winners will move on to the District round on October 8th. Assistanc

e is needed to shag balls and set up the kickers. Please contact Wayne or Miguel or just show up at the soccer field

behind West Leyden at 10:00 am.56 young adults recei

ved their 3rd sacrament of initiation, Confirmation, on Tuesday September 26th. Continue to keep them and

all our young people in your prayers. We supplied the honor guard of Frank Kurash, Russ Klug, Rob Maas, Eric Tregarz,

Wayne Bernacki, and Brian Cychosz (GK St Maria Goretti coun

cil). We have been invited to assist St Maria Goretti council with their confirmation on October 22nd.

As Brother Knights we share the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. This allows and affords us the

opportunity to look beyond council barriers to help each other

whenever possible.Vivat Jesus,Michael

opportunity to look beyond council barriers to help each other

whenever possible.Vivat Jesus,Michael Well this sure has been an active and fun month. We began it with the Blue Mass honoring our emergency personnel. A special thank you for Wayne Bernacki for arranging it, our Sir Knights providing the honor guard, and for all those who came to honor our emergency providers. I am sure they were touched that we appreciate them and are concerned about their well-being. We followed that with our annual ID Drive. For all those who came out and stayed on street corners or in front of stores thank you. It's such a wonderful feeling to know that we are making a difference in someone's life. We also had our council’s annual soccer challenge.

We had about 26 participants, a new record attendance. Our Honor Guard then participated at St. Gertrude's confirmation Mass. Thank you Sir Knights you are the visible arm of our order.

We are an active council and I encourage everyone to look at the schedule of activities. We need you and your support to continue making a difference in our community.   In “2 Corinthians 9:7” it says: Everyone must give according to what he has inwardly decided; not sadly, grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver.

River Grove, IL 60171 - for both events. Looking for volunteers to help out.

Mark Your Calendar for our Annual “Polish Dinner” . . .Saturday, November 10th at 6:00 PM / held at St. Beatrice, in the school hall, 4134 Wagner, Schiller Park.Open Bar 6:00 – Dinner Served 7:00 PM - Beer and Wine are included in the cost of the ticket which is $25.00 per person.Music & Dancing to follow Dinner.ID Drive Update. . . The area was covered with yellow trimmed in red. The Street corners and storefronts were staffed with eager volunteers. The weather was perfect.Thank you, to the many who offered their time. You turned your hours into contributions.

Your efforts totaled just aroun three thousand dollars. Success of the drive is driven by this offering of your time as much as the generosity of our community. Captains Russ Klug and Wayne Bernacki worked tirelessly on the streets and behind the scenes. Brother, John Walenter completely covered Chase Bank and Dunkin Donuts. Brother Knights braved the streets. Jim Gussy with volunteer Michelle Morgan where at 25th and Irving. Eric Tragarz tackled a new area at, Irving and River Rd. The contributions were there for the taking. Jerry Swigost at Mannheim and Irving along with Troy Cychosz. Members of St. Maria Gorretti Council generously helped the drive; GK Brian Cychosz with his sons Troy and Sean. Pat Stark collected at KD Market. Don Marmor, one of newest members, and Jim Gussy’s friend Mary were also part of our dedicated team.GK Rob Maas and his wife Kathy handled Jewel in Franklin Park. Debbie Cyplick returned to her usual place at Produce World. PGK Frank Kurash was at Gambino’s. I was at Norridge Ace Hardware. The businesses covered have again shown customers to be generous. Several times I was told “glad you are here, you missed me at the corner”. Unfortunately, we did not have enough volunteers to cover all the locations we had permission for, nor all approved hours.Jim Ridgeway helped me haul the money to the bank and feed all the change into the counting machine. (No small

task if you’ve been to TCF Bank) I am afraid I may be forgetting to mention someone; please know that your help was appreciated in covering the corners and stores. It is difficult to find the proper words to thank everyone. We may not have been large in number, but we are all LARGE in CHARITY! Continuing to work toward our goal we must keep up the DRIVE. Church Candy sales are scheduled for the weekend of October 20th and 21st. Again we need your time to sell out the remaining 19 cases of Tootsie Rolls. That equals 114 packages of 50 candies. A fifty pack of Tootsie Rolls will cost only ten dollars ($10.00). That’s reasonable for candy. Please help us help those unable to help themselvesTom Zima Fin. Sec.

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza

St. Beatrice Parish Council is holding a PIZZA PALOOZA Best Pizza Competition on Saturday, Oct. 20th at 6:00 PM. Pizza Restaurants in the Leyden area will be represented. The Pre-Sale Ticket cost is $8.00 per person / children under 12 are $5.00. Tickets available at Parish Office or after Masses on Oct. 6th & 7th, 13th & 14th.All proceeds benefit a variety of parish maintenance projects.

Vocation Raffle tickets will be sent this month. Please be generous. Our goal is five scholarships this year. Four of them will go

to seminarians at St Joseph Seminary at Loyola. This year we wish to sponsor a novitiate from Our Lady of the Angels. It is very important to help these young women toward their vocation to the religious life. Each vocation scholarship is Five hundred dollars. For every raffle book we sell, the council makes Nine dollars. That means to cover the donation we must sell a minimum of Two hundred eighty books. We sell between Seventy to Eighty books on average. The Council’s Ninety-five members each buying two books we are still short of the necessary funds. Any shortage comes from of our dues and the funds from the Corn Beef Dinner. We need your help. Now is the time to step up and…….Strive for five!
