Help them stay connected

• Keep your guests happier, for longer • Encourage your guests to engage, return and spend more with you

Nomophobia - The fear of losing your mobile device, or its battery dying - Urban Dictionary, 2014

66% of mobile phone users experience extreme anxiety over losing their device or running out of battery power - Wilson Electronics, 2014 study

Over half of mobile phone users never switch off their phones (YouGov UK Survey)

The average battery life of a mobile phone is just 6 hours, and this is only decreasing as hardware technology struggles to keep up with increasingly sophisticated apps. Make your shop the place customers go to charge their mobile phone. Encourage brand loyalty, length of time customers spend in your shop, the amount customers spend in your shop, and customer experience each time they visit.Decrease the use of your power outlets and demands on staff, and charge up to five phones at once with each machine.

Page 7: UKCharge

Encourage your customers to interact with your brand, with easily customisable screens, panels and messaging on the machine. Tell them the order of the day, ask them to sign up to your newsletter or a competition, or collect data for surveys. Whatever you choose to do UK Charge are your partner and help you make the most of your physical space.

PRICINGRequirementsThe charging station requires a suitable space with an electrical power socket and access to reliable WiFi or cabled Ethernet.

Usage and CostThe charging station consumes under 50 watts of electricity per hour when full and charging five devices, and 30 watts per hour when idle or containing fully charged devices. This is under a 10th of a coffee machine and a third of the average flat screen TV.

The estimated cost of charging five devices for 24 hours a day for 365 days is £43.80 at the average energy price plan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhat are the environmental requirements for a Brightbox®?Recommended Operating Temperature: 15 to 32º COperating Temperature Range: 5 to 40° CTemperature Storage Range: -20 to 60º COperating Humidity Range: 20 to 80% RH Non-Operating Humidity Range: Up to 90% RH

A Brightbox® only requires a standard 220V Power Outlet in order to be powered on and operated.

Either a Wi-Fi Connection (preferably secure) or Ethernet Connection is required for Internet access. If a venue Internet connection is whitelisted, Brightbox® can provide the Wi-Fi and Ethernet MAC Addresses as needed.

Page 15: UKCharge

Is Internet connectivity necessary for the Brightbox® to function properly?Technically, the Brightbox® does not need Internet connectivity to operate (charge devices) or to enable the remote access support function. That said, without Internet connectivity you cannot perform many important functions including software/firmware updates, real-time uploading of content and troubleshooting.

Can a Brightbox® accommodate a larger device such as a tablet? No. The current Brightbox® focuses exclusively on smartphones (and phablets with up to 6.7” screens). The focus on smartphones allows the Brightbox® to remain smaller while addressing a greater market with a single product.

Page 16: UKCharge

What customizations are available in regards to colour of the LED chamber lights?

For free units, we can customize the chamber lights to be any one of 16 colors and change the artwork on the display. For paid units (with payment processing), there are only one of 3 themes available (Blue, Purple and Gold).

Does UKCharge access a customer’s financial information? No. Units use an end-to-end encrypting card reader and does not have the means to extract or decode the PCI sensitive data produced by the card reader. The reader generates an encrypted payload and also produces a masked version of the financial card data which is insufficient to process a financial transaction (e.g. it lacks the full primary account number). Units use this masked data to uniquely identify the card for each charging session.

How long can a customer charge a phone in a Brightbox®?As long as they want to.

Page 17: UKCharge

What cables are currently installed in a Brightbox®?Each chamber in the Brightbox® is currently equipped with the following 3 cables:

• 100% MFI Apple Certified 30-pin Cable.

• 100% MFI Apple Certified Lightning Cable.

• High Grade 28/24 AWG microUSB Cable.

The combination of these 3 cables will charge virtually every mobile phone currently on the market. What happens if a new charging cable comes out on the market?

A great deal of forethought has gone into the design of the Brightbox®. Each unit currently has three cables per chamber, but it has been predesigned to have the ability to quickly and seamlessly accept a fourth cable per chamber without any unit redesign.
