Planning to visit the UK? Know
your visa options
Do I need a visa for my trip?
New Zealanders do not generally need a visa to visit the UK if they are:
• Planning to visit the UK for leisure purposes (e.g. on a holiday or to visit friends and family).
• Planning to go to the UK on business-related activities (e.g. for a conference, meeting or training. Learn more about what a ‘business-related activity’ is at www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/overview).
• Will be in the UK for less than 6 months.
There are some exceptions. For example, you will need a visa if you are going to the UK to get married (learn more at www.gov.uk/marriage-visa).
If you have a criminal record and are travelling to the UK, you should apply for a visa. You can do so at www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa
To confirm if you need a visa please visit www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
Even if you don’t need a visa, it is highly recommended that you take supporting documents to show at the border. These include:
• Your passport
• Financial documents showing you have sufficient funds available to support yourself, such as bank statements
• If travelling for business-related activities, documents showing what you will be doing in the UK, such as letters from inviting organisations.
