This person helps navigate the group to success and keeps the assignment on track. Tip: If you feel you’re not having your voice head, shout them a coffee so you have a chance to speak to them one-on-one and raise your concerns. By getting to know them you may feel more comfortable raising your thoughts. T L The Bobble Head This person only has a vague idea of what is going on in the assignment. They generally nod and agree with whatever is decided without contributing. Tip: To try and get them more involved in the assignment, ask these people directly for their opinion on a topic. The Missing in Action This person, whether they attend group meetings or not, is happy to sit back and go with the flow. With all the other personalities in the group, they just want to sit back and wait for that awesome mark. Tip: The M.I.A will have some great ideas, so spend some time getting them involved and scheduling group meetings just before class to make sure they can attend. The Eagle Eye Missed a comma? The eagle eye has your back! This person has an eye for detail. They find the perfect adjective, verb or synonym for any situation and will help move your assignment to a professional level. Tip: Get this person to use their super-skills to proofread the finished assignment and double check the bibliography and referencing. The Infinite Ball of Energy With colour coded lists and pages and pages of notes, this person is a tornado of typing, ahead in the course readings and has so much energy you could get a caffeine hit simply by standing beside them. Tip: Try pairing this person with someone who doesn’t have much energy and hopefully they will rub off on each other! The Stress Reliever Why did the chicken cross the road? This person is a joker at heart. You can rely on them for a good laugh when everyone else is starting to stress out. Tip: If their jokes get too much, have a quiet word to them and remind them that assignment work is not all fun and games! The Joker The Master of Making Shiny Things Taaaa daaa! With a glue stick or Photoshop this person can transform any ordinary assignment into a masterpiece. Tip: Put this person in charge of formatting the layout or building the group assignment. TOOLS The Mysterious One You don’t know much about this person, they just sit there nodding along and not saying much. This person is very reserved and quiet. They usually go with the flow because they are too nervous to voice their own opinion. Tip: Build up this person’s confidence with encouragement and hopefully they will become more involved. Try talking with them outside of the group assignment and ask them if there is a particular way they would like to be involved. The Peace Keeper Group work can get noisy and with a lot of opinions in the group. This person tries to keep the peace, boost morale and make the best of every situation. Tip: This person’s skills will be vital whenever tension develops in the group and will help calm stormy waters. The Public Speaker This person is full of ideas on how to pitch the assignment. Public speaking is one of their passions. Tip: Utilise this strength and passion and put them in charge of presenting the assignment. The Planner Extraordinaire You can never be too organised and this person is ready for anything and everything! They love making lists and being prepared so things aren’t left to the last minute.
