Started in 2005 as a joint training between Fort Collins Natural Area and Larimer County Dept. of Natural Resources sponsored by the Colorado Open Space Alliance.

This evolved into the Ranger Excellence School in 2011.

We recognized that many rangers throughout the state did not have the training needed, so it was opened to open spaces and park agencies and also to train our own seasonal rangers.
