    Two media sectors

    Photography

    Quick history about photography:-

Photography sector also knows as photoimaging sector. In photography there are

many things that you can do which can

contribute to being a media sector. As a

    photographer you get to create

permanent visual images for a wide range

    of creative, technical, documentary, and

    personal purposes. A professional

    photographer they would usually works

to a brief set by the client and/or employer. An example would be to do

voluntary work by taking photos that could include wedding, family and baby

photographs; fashion, food, or by doing freelance work by taking photo that

    relate to architecture and landscapes.

    However most professional photographers specialise

in one to two areas, such as fashion, advertising, social

photography etc. The majority of professional

photographers are self-employed. So there are is a

wide range of employers, including creative

businesses, publishers and photographic agencies, or

in the education or public sector that relates to going

    into the photography sector.

Working as a photographer you will be able to earn between 12,000 to 17,000

per year as a beginner and the work word be as a part time or as a freelance job.

Not only that but . However when you are full time photographer it can be

between 18,000 to 50,000 per year, maybe more depending on. You would

also be looking at an average day of where you would be:-

Discussing the project with the client, or receiving instructions from them(known as a brief)

To help people who want to go to go into the photography sector. I have

interviewed a pro photographer, which will help us as students to get into the

industry. However if you go into going solo you would also take on the role of

administrative; possibly financial and/or marketing as well.

When working in the photography sector it links into may other sectors as well,

for the advertising, film, and journalism sector.

To get into this sector you dont really need to have any qualification, however

having some sort of media/photography qualification dose help when you are

applying to become a photographer. Most people would go and get further skills

and expertise for work through development in education and training, either

full or part-time. GCSE is an equivalent to Level 2. Functional Skills qualifications

in Maths, communications and ICT are important to employers, particularly

when GCSE Grade C has not been reached in these subjects. BTECs in Creative

Media Production are Level 3s. These are vocational programmes designed to

enable for you to learn about the structure, requirements and skills required in

all industries weather it is related to media or not. However there is an increase

in people going into university to get a degree.

In this sector having a portfolio or CV is usually essential for gaining work except

for production assistant work. The role of a CV or a portfolio in seeking work in

    media is highly important.

As a photographer you need to understand that it is a very creative job but at thesame time you need to be able to understand the camera equipment that can be

very technical and how to edit the photos that you take. If you are thinking about

taking the root of becoming a photographer you need to think if you have the

right behavior to become a photographer. You will need to be reliable; you need

to be someone that can be reliable and be punctual; be able to communicate with

outers; work efficiently; have grate time management; and can work well in a

team as well as working independently.

    Radio

The radio sector is a major part of media. Radio is

when undergoing a digital revolution - every bit as

profound as that affecting TV because it is easer to

get information from not only that but you can

access it anywhere - and as with all revolutions

many of the eventual outcomes are uncertain. That rapid and profound impact has been

experienced differently in different sectors of the industry - creating threats as

well as opportunities. But despite all the uncertainty there is a sense abroad that

this is an exciting period in the development.

Read here about the size and shape of the industry and its workforce, and the

skills it needs to face the challenges and opportunities of the future. At a time

when the range of platforms for distribution of audio content is increasing, and

media and telecommunications are converging across the board, defining what

we mean by the "radio industry" now, or what it may become in future, is a

challenge. As a starting point, Creative Skillset's work in developing a skillsstrategy and action plan for radio focuses mainly on those organisations that

provide licensed radio services under the regulation of Ofcom.

Traditionally Radio when you want to work in the media

industry, you will be able to have creative role but you will

also be able to have a managerial role in when you go into the

    radio industry.

Whist working in the radio industry you will be able to pick

from creative role but you will also be able to have a

managerial role on the work that you do presenters acquire hands-on experience

of presenting by working in community radio, student or hospital radio, or

discos, in some cases while taking an undergraduate degree or a post-graduate

Diploma or MA in Radio or Media Production. Some may benefit from talent

development schemes run by some larger broadcasters to identify potential

    presenters.

To get into this sector you dont really need to have any qualification, however

having some sort of media/photography qualification dose help when you are

applying to become a photographer. Most people would go and get further skills

and expertise for work through development in education and training, eitherfull or part-time. GCSE is an equivalent to Level 2. Functional Skills qualifications

all industries weather it is related to media or not. However there is an increase

in people going into university to get a degree.

In this sector having a portfolio or CV is usually essential for gaining work except

for production assistant work. The role of a CV or a portfolio in seeking work in

media is highly important. Often it is the main way of securing a position after

personal contact is made not only that but its so that the employers can not only

see what you are doing but it is also to see what you have done and weather or

not you will be able to work in this sector.

However, Radio Presenters may also be recruited for their specialist knowledge

or celebrity profile - acquired from working on newspapers and magazines, or in

the music business for example. Others make the move to Radio from

    presentation roles in TV.

Once in post, career progression for Radio Presenters often involves moving to alarger station, to a programme with a wider audience, or from a local to a

regional or national service. Radio Presenters also move into TV, or combine

working in both media. Some may choose to move into Programme Production

    or into Radio Management roles.

If you are thinking about taking the root of becoming a photographer you need to

think if you have the right behavior to become a photographer. You will need tobe reliable; you need to be someone that can be reliable and be punctual; be able

to communicate with outers; work efficiently; have grate time management; and

can work well in a team as well as working independently; as well as an out

going person who has a lot of confidence in themselves as well.
