having some sort of media/photography qualification dose help when you are
applying to become a photographer. Most people would go and get further skills
and expertise for work through development in education and training, either
full or part-time. GCSE is an equivalent to Level 2. Functional Skills qualifications
in Maths, communications and ICT are important to employers, particularly
when GCSE Grade C has not been reached in these subjects. BTECs in Creative
Media Production are Level 3s. These are vocational programmes designed to
enable for you to learn about the structure, requirements and skills required in
all industries weather it is related to media or not. However there is an increase
in people going into university to get a degree.
In this sector having a portfolio or CV is usually essential for gaining work except
for production assistant work. The role of a CV or a portfolio in seeking work in
media is highly important.
As a photographer you need to understand that it is a very creative job but at thesame time you need to be able to understand the camera equipment that can be

The radio sector is a major part of media. Radio is
when undergoing a digital revolution - every bit as
profound as that affecting TV because it is easer to
get information from not only that but you can
access it anywhere - and as with all revolutions
many of the eventual outcomes are uncertain. That rapid and profound impact has been
experienced differently in different sectors of the industry - creating threats as
well as opportunities. But despite all the uncertainty there is a sense abroad that
this is an exciting period in the development.
