Dr. Henry Marsh is a renowned neurosurgeon from the UK, who lives with his wife in their luxurious South London home. But Dr. Marsh lives a double life - every year, for the past fifteen years, the good doctor spends a few weeks in the Ukraine, offering free medical consultations and performing brain surgery on tumours deemed 'inoperable' by Ukrainian doctors.

In primitive conditions and without the proper tools, Marsh and his protégé, Dr. Igor Petrovich, perform some of the most highly complex and dangerous surgeries for a poverty-stricken and hope-deprived people.

Filmed in the Ukrainian winter of 2007, The English Surgeon is an awe-inspiring, humorous and emotive documentary about one man's incredible desire to help in any way he can. A truly inspirational story about a remarkably selfless individual and the country he has grown to love.

Tribal Wives returns for a second series. Six British women swap their everyday lives for life as 'Tribal Wives' in some of the most remote communities on earth. Like many women today juggling career, home and family, they feel that something is missing. By spending time in societies where female roles are very different they hope to find answers that could change their lives.

Charlie Brades, a 23 year old from Hampshire is going to live as a 'Tribal Wife' with the Yörük, a tribe of nomads who live in the remote mountains of southern Turkey. Charlie is fiercely independent but her life has been far from carefree. Her mother has a long history of mental illness and as a teenager Charlie was often left to her own devices. Living in a one-roomed tent with a Yörük family of seven - including the father's two wives - proves quite a challenge for Charlie but ultimately forces her to confront some home truths.

Bored To Death: The Case Of The Lonely White Dove


A smitten Russian parolee hires Jonathan to track down a chanteuse known as 'the Lonely White Dove'.

Meanwhile, Jonathan's boss George is in crisis mode. Concerned about his declining magazine sales, he considers his therapist's advice to get in touch with his feminine side in order to improve business.

Following a vodka-fuelled reconnaissance mission at the Brighton Beach restaurant where the 'the Lonely White Dove' works, Jonathan persuades his ex-girlfriend Suzanne to join him there for dinner the next night - along with Ray and Leah - but fails to reveal his true purpose. In Jonathan's usual style, the evening does not end well.

After being contacted by 'the Lonely White Dove', Jonathan arranges for her to be reunited with the Russian parolee, but the two men soon find themselves in danger.

Louie: Bully


Performing his stand-up, Louie talks about the time he asked his father about sex. He recalls that he was seven years old at the time of the conversation, and his father essentially told a child how to make love to a 40-year-old woman.

Later, Louie is on a date with a woman, and they decide to stop for donuts and coffee. They're enjoying an intimate conversation in the donut shop when a group of raucous teenage boys arrive. After Louie requests that the teenagers keep the noise down, one of them starts taunting him. Forced to placate the teen in order to keep the peace, Louie humiliates himself in the process in front of his date.

With his date coming to an abrupt end, Louie notices the troublesome teenager and his friends hanging around outside the donut shop, and decides to follow the teenager home. Two subway trains and a ferry ride later, Louie knocks on the door of the teenager's family home and explains the incident to the boy's parents.

Archer is an animated half-hour comedy set at ISIS, an international spy agency, where global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other.

Sanctuary: Untouchable


The Sanctuary is facing a detailed inspection by UN official Greg Addison (Brian Markinson). In the wake of the barely-averted Abnormal uprising, world governments are demanding accountability from Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), who's used to operating independently and in secret.

The Sanctuary team rushes to make their facility and databases secure before the inspectors arrive. Magnus and Will (Robin Dunne) are summoned to answer for what went wrong on their recent mission to Jakarta to retrieve a Crixorum, a dangerous Abnormal with psychic powers. Addison warns them that if they don't start cooperating, he has the power to cut off the Sanctuary's funding and shut down the whole network. When he catches them lying to him, things turn hostile and Addison tries to turn Will against Magnus to 'save' the Sanctuary.

Meanwhile, Henry (Ryan Robbins) gets a visit from his girlfriend Erika (Pauline Egan), who has an unforeseen problem she needs help with. And it could change both their lives.

Louis Theroux: Law And Disorder In Johannesburg

Documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux takes on the issue of law and disorder when he travels to Johannesburg, where the residents find themselves increasingly besieged by crime.

Despairing of the capabilities of the police and the courts to protect them, many residents are turning to the private security industry which offers protection for a price. Are the sometimes brutal methods of these private police really a solution, or just another part of the problem?

The first stop for Louis is a meeting with William Mayangoni, the local co-ordinator for a security firm known as Mapogo. William investigates thefts for his mainly white clients. When he catches a suspect, he gives them 'medicine' which involves beating the alleged offender with a leather whip known as a sjambok.

In the centre of Johannesburg, a security company called Bad Boyz works in an area called Hillbrow, notorious for its high crime rate. Louis meets company director Hendrik De Klerk, who explains that much of their activity involves reclaiming and securing buildings that have been taken over - or hijacked - by criminal gangs who illegally take rent from tenants.

While on patrol, Bad Boyz introduce Louis to an unseen Johannesburg underworld. Here, he meets the gang boss known only as 'The Chairman' and is escorted into a hijacked skyscraper to meet residents who have lived for years without electricity or water. As he watches Bad Boyz protect their buildings and tenants, Louis begins to wonder about their readiness to use violence, and witnesses the compromises that are made to keep order in a violent city.

Australians get a bad rap overseas, and our stocks seem especially low in India. In fact, a sizeable chunk of India's 1.2 billion people think Aussies are dumb, drunk and racist. But doesn't every country have its negative stereotypes?

In this six-part factual series, journalist Joe Hildebrand takes four Indians on a road-trip around Australia to examine our worst stereotypes - are we really beer-swilling, racist bogans, or are we simply misunderstood?

After three weeks of seeing the good, the bad and the ugly up close, will our intrepid Indian travellers still think that Australians are dumb, drunk and racist? And what will we think of ourselves, after seeing Australia through their eyes?

In the first episode, Joe travels to India and meets the four locals who will join him on the trip - newsreader and journalist Gurmeet Chaudhary, call centre worker Mahima Bhardwaj, law student Amer Singh and student advisor Radhika Budhwar. All agree to risk life and limb to visit our reviled and dangerous country.

Joe kicks off the Australian tour by mixing the glitz and glamour of Sydney Harbour with Australia's most renowned beach, Bondi. The travellers quickly become seduced by the beauty down under. But before his guests relax too much, Joe stops them in their tracks with a provocative mural plastered on an inner-city wall. The mural - which reads 'Ban the Burqa' - sparks off the first heated debate... and the Indians aren't the only ones upset by the message the mural carries.
