Welcome to the May edition.

The market has performed consistantly over the last month, reporting similar positive statistics to last month. You will note we monitor closely the movement of stock (properties currently under offer or agreement). This gives us a clear indication of how sales are likely to perform in the months following. Currently this figure shows an improvement to last month (up 4%), so moving towards the typically slower Winter months is looking encouraging.

Our sales team has sold in excess of 30 homes since March 1, with a standout effort by local agent Brian McPherson selling homes in Chisholm, Bonython, Gilmore, Oxley & Kambah. A few sales results worth noting across the region were 27 Apperly Close, Gleneagles Estate selling for $1,000,000, and 16 Greeves Street, Wanniassa hitting the market and selling in under a week.

Team News

This month we welcomed Ebony Heffernan to our Property Management team, bringing with her a wealth of experience in administration and client support.

“With a whole lot of fresh rental homes hitting the market this month, our leasing team experienced a swarm of new interest

and activity, which can be attributed to the quality of homes on offer; most of which having had minor renovations and regular

maintenance conducted.”

Welcome to the May segment of ‘styled to sell’. This month I have looked at current interior trends and provide a few tips to help get your home looking its best in todays market.

The Role

My position at Peter Blackshaw Tuggeranong evolved from a lack of hands on assistance available for those needing practical help and direction to present their home to the marketplace.

By utilising tools you may not even realise you have, I can provide you with additional cost effective ideas in all areas of styling, organisation, and placement of existing home furnish-ings and ornamentals.

Most vendors intending on presenting a home to the market may appreciate how an alternate, and completely neutral opinion could dramatically effect how a purchaser could either count or discount a home at a first viewing.

If you would like some help, please contact me.

Neutral Tones

Grey and neutral tones are still very popular as a base for paint, floor finishes and

fixed fittings.

Metalic Finishes

Copper/Bronze/Silver/Gold are also popular at the moment leading trends for tapware, handles, light

fittings and furniture trims. Bright colours can also be used well to bring life to a room; this is done

best with soft furnishing and decor pieces. Decluttering

Decluttering is an important process before introducing your house to the market. It gives a true sense of size, so pack away all items that are

not required, and avoid leaving too many items out on the benches and tables. A cluttered home draws

attention to storage or lack there of.

It is a good idea to clear family photos and personal items. People viewing a home to buy need

to be able to see themselves living in the house as opposed to feeling like a visitor.
