Tuesday February 6th, 2018
Dear Parents and Guardians, We are already in the second month of the new year and of Term 2! February is already proving to be very exciting with many upcoming events and with a new member joining our teaching team. We would like to welcome to Mr. Chet Galpin, who will be taking over 6A from Ms. Tina Huang this second term.
In February our virtue of the month will be “Being Passionate.” Being Passionate means to have a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something.
“People with great passion can make the impossible happen” During this term, students will start work for the upcoming Science Fair, and hopefully this will help ignite the passion of some future scientists!
Registration for New Families: If you have family or friends thinking to register their
child in G.A.D. Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year, please encourage them to come to the school
office at the earliest as spots fill up quickly. Registration for Kindergarten is also filling up quickly. There will only be 4 sections next year. Please apply as soon as possible. Children born in 2013 are eligible for admission to Kindergarten.
We are very excited and proud to be in the process of preparing for expanding our school into grade 9 for the 2018-2019 school year! Contact us if you have any questions about this expansion.
Re-Enrollment for Grades 1 to 9: It is recommended that students who are planning to return for the next school year re-enroll as soon as possible. Re-enrollment can be secured by submitting the required fees for the month of September 2018 by March 30th. Please be advised that all fees will be non-refundable. IMPORTANT: The monthly fees for May and June are to be paid
together in the month of May.
Traffic Safety - Traffic congestion, reckless driving and careless habits during daily drop off and pick up create dangerous conditions. Arrivals and departures cause increased pedestrian and vehicular congestion. If we all
cooperate and work together to improve the traffic safety we can certainly make a difference and bring about effective change in our attitude and behavior.
From here onwards, traffic violators will be given a ‘Warning Ticket’ with a message to ‘choose safety over convenience’ in and around the school for everyone’s safety.
Arrival and Pick-Up – Students should arrive at school between 8:00am – 8:05am. Do not drop off your child before 8am as there is no supervision at that time. We do not want any child left unattended as it is a safety concern. At the end of the day,
students should be picked up promptly by 2:40pm or, if they are in an afterschool club, by 3:30pm. Please note there is no supervision after 3:30pm.
G.A.D. will be hosting a Ready, Set, Learn session on Monday, February 26th, 2018. Families with children who are 3 or 4 years old can participate in a variety of early
learning activities with their child. All attendees will receive information, helpful tips and an at home activity packet to help them support their child's learning and development and begin preparing them for Kindergarten.
