MAKING A DONATION The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is very appreciative of the substantial support of our many generous donors each year in support of SAVAHCS Veteran Patient Programs. For a current list of donation needs and to ensure a need still exists, please contact Voluntary Service (VAVS) at 629-1822, prior to making a donation.

Other Material Donations Please contact VAVS Office at 629-1822 to discuss other material donations. Donations can be delivered to the VAVS Office, Building 58.

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All donations are acknowledged with a Thank You letter to the donor when a Donation Acknowledgement Form is completed and submitted to the VAVS Office in Building 58 or the Clothing Room in Building 90. Additional donation forms can be obtained in each location.

ClothingSAVAHCS will only accept new and unworn undergarments and socks. All clothing, shoes and hats must be clean and in good condition. Clothing donations are distributed to our homeless Veterans, and any other SAVAHCS patient who requires clothing during their stay or before leaving the hospital (e.g. Emergency Department, Wards, and Outpatient Surgery).

NEW MOVIE TICKETS - Movie tickets or gift cards to Harkins Theaters for Veteran patients in the Community Living Center for community reintegration activities.

NEW LEATHER WORK SUPPLIES FOR IN-PATIENT MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS - Double shoulder leather 8/9 oz, Eco-Flo gum, Eco-Flo super sheen, Wood Daubers, Eco-Flo gel tan color, Eco-Flo gel medium brown color, Eco-Flo gel black color.

NEW GROCERY GIFT CARDS FOR HEALTHY COOKING CLASSES FOR VETERANS ENROLLED AT THE YUMA COMMUNITY BASED OUTPATIENT CLINIC- Walmart or Fry’s.

NEW COFFEE PODS FOR IN-PATIENTS

NEW CRAFT PROJECTS FOR IN-PATIETNS: MODEL CARS, PLANES, PAINTING PROJECTS, WOOD PROJECTS, ADULT COLORING BOOKS

NEW PRE-PAID CELL PHONES FOR VETERAN’S USE TO COORDINATE IN HOME HEALTH CARE SERVICES FOLLOWING DISHARGE FROM HOSPITAL

NEW LYFT/UBER GIFT CARDS, BUS PASSES, TAXI VOUCHERS FOR PATIENT TRANSPORTATION

LAP BLANKETS –The blanket size should be a minimum of 3 ft. by 5ft. Smaller blankets do not provide enough coverage.

FOLEY BAG COVERS – Covers for catheter bags. ***

SIDE WHEELCHAIR BAGS – Needed for side arms. Must have one short side so bags do not get caught in wheel. ***

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY KITS & PUPPETS - Many parents and grandparents are bringing children with them to SAVAHCS. We try to help by providing items to keep the children occupied. The most popular items are hand puppets (homemade*** & store bought) and coloring books and crayons.

VETERAN MEMORIAL PROGRAM – Donations of patriotic quilts and blankets (quilted or knitted) are needed for this program. The size of the quilts and blankets must be a minimum of 4’ x 6’. To honor and respect patients that pass while receiving care in our hospital wards, patriotic blankets are draped over the deceased Veteran during transport within the hospital. The blanket is then presented to the Veteran’s family.
