Special Jubilee Year of Mercy + December 8, 2015 to November 20, 2016 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mary set out in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
When Mary, a teenager, was several months pregnant with a child conceived by a mysterious interven-
tion by God, she made the difficult eighty mile journey south from Nazareth to Bethany to be with her
elderly cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant. It was a difficult trip she would have made on foot,
probably barefoot. Sandals were expensive and usually kept for special occasions. Mary’s trip to be
with her cousin was not just social visit with an older cousin. They both believed their child would
fulfill the prophesy of Isaiah that the God of Abraham would send a herald to proclaim the arrival of
the Son of Man, who would be the Savior of the world. At the time, they could not have know every-
thing we now know from the Gospels. But they had faith. They accepted the roles that they believed
God had called them to. And their faith is a challenge to us to believe that the son of Mary is God
Incarnate and our Savior and Lord. Let us celebrate His birth with great joy because…
Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

Religious five thanks. “We cannot begin to
repay all who contribute,” writes a Catholic
sister. “So we pray to God, who is never
outdone in generosity, to reward you.”
Heartfelt thanks for your donation
to last week’s collection for the
Retirement Fund for Religious.
May God bless you for your goodness!
We beg You, Lord, to help and defend us. Deliver the oppressed, pity the insig-nificant, raise the fallen, show Yourself to the needy, heal the sick, bring back those of Your people who have gone
astray, feed the hungry, lift up the weak, take off the prisoners’ chains.
May every nation come to know that You alone are God, that Jesus Christ is
Your Child, that we are Your people, the sheep that You pasture. Amen.

Fourth Sunday of Advent ~ IV Domingo de Adviento
¿Estamos dispuestos a

Holy Family Sunday
There will be Special Prayers for the Blessing of Families during all Masses the
weekend of December 26 & 27, 2015. Please invite your extended family to join us!
Prayer for Families
We bless your name, O Lord, for sending
your own incarnate Son, to become part of
a family, so that, as he lived its life, he
would experience its worries and its joys.
We ask you, Lord, to protect and watch
over this family, so that in the strength of
your grace its members may enjoy pros-
perity, possess the priceless gift of your
peace, and, as the Church alive in the
home, bear witness in this world to your
glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen.
Prayer for Mothers
Loving God, as a mother gives life and
nourishment to her children, so you watch
over your Church. Bless our mother. Let
the example of her faith and love shine
forth. Grant that we, her family, may honor
her always with a spirit of profound re-
spect. Grant this through Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen.
Prayer for Children
Lord Jesus Christ, you loved children so much
that you said: “Whoever welcomes a child wel-
comes me.” Hear our prayers and, with your
unfailing protection, watch over these children
(this child). When they (he/ she) have (has)
grown to maturity, grant that they (he/ she) will
confess your name in willing faith, be fervent in
charity, and persevere courageously in the hope
of reaching your Kingdom, where you live and
reign forever and ever. R/. Amen.
At the conclusion of the prayer, the parents,
grandparents, etc., may trace the sign of the
cross on each child’s forehead.
Prayer for Fathers
God, you are the giver of all life, human and
divine. Bless our father. May he be the best of
teachers for his children, bearing witness to the
faith by what he says and does, in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
R/. Amen.
