4. Appointed Teachers for Government School

In Nepal, there is a vast difference in quality of education in private and government schools. Again it is more in village or country side. In these poorly run government educational institute, there is a big lack of equal access to education with a friendly and fun loving children environment especially to children from age 2 to 6. In addition to funds and lack of enough and trained Montessori teachers are some of the major factors. Some of the major objective of this project 1. To encourage parents to send their kids to school 2. To create a friendly and fun loving environment for children. 3. Provide balance food diet for the children. 4. To train children by the Montessori train teachers. 5. To make children socially and morally aware of good, bad and right and wrong. With the support from Friends For Global Change, USA and My Small Help, Nepal, two full time teachers has been appointed for one of the poorly run government school in remote village in Balthali, Napane, Kavre. These teachers teaches children from age 2 to 6 in kindergarten. This project was started from April 2017 and it is ongoing project till date. There is a big positive impact on children.

D2 MySmallHelp in Peru Integral Support Program MSH Peru has been working to continue supporting the beneficiaries part of our Integral Support Program, their families and the communities they live in. Our support consists in securing funds and provide what is needed to accomplish the goals set on their development plans, set according to each beneficiaries needs. The daily and weekly activities of this program include: providing direct care and support for children and young adults who have needs related to physical, social, emotional, psychological and other (special) education needs; assisting the beneficiaries in their home or school setting; providing a variety of classes and general academic support; providing therapies to improve physical or mental skills; accompanying the beneficiaries to medical appointments and follow up of their medical treatments; attending parents and teachers meetings at their schools; among others. For the past years, the program have been supporting 24 beneficiaries, whose ages range from 3 years to 27 years old, plus one 75 year-old lady who is one of the first beneficiaries of the program. From those, only some beneficiaries have been supported with funds provided from the UK. The main activities developed to support the beneficiaries funded by UK donations are:

• Lourdes: registration and payment of the school tuition, as well as providing

school supplies. We also provide weekly academic support, follow up of her

health treatments and provide a monthly allowance so she can pay the rent of

her room and other needs.

• Lourdes Mariana (Lulu): registration and payment of the tuition at the CEBE

San Martin, special needs school in Cusco, where she attends in a daily basis.

We also provide weekly afterschool lessons to improve her educational

development, provide school supplies and fund her daily transportation to/from

school.

• Leonel: registration and payment of the tuition at the CEBE San Martin,

special needs school in Cusco. The donations raised in UK, help fund part of

his daily transportation to/from school to his house in Ollantaytambo (located 2

hours away from Cusco City). Although this expense is high for the family and

local economy (790 GPB per year aprox.), MSH Peru funds it so Leonel can

be able to attend school to continue learning sign language and communicate

properly. MSH Peru also provides supplies and weekly lessons to support his

learning and development.

• Anita: payment of her school tuition and providing school supplies. MSH

provides weekly lessons to support her learning and educational development.

Regarding her health, MSH Peru provided physiotherapies and supports her

medical treatments, funds the purchase of dippers on a monthly basis, and the

monthly transportation to/from her house to the basketball training, which has

helped her to improve her social and emotional skills, as her emotional status

constantly varies due to her constant health problems.

• Cristian: During this year, Cristian had serious health problems which weren’t

treated on time and unfortunately lead to his death. MSH Peru had been

supporting the family during this hard period and funded some of the tests and

medicines that were needed during the treatment. Before that, MSH Peru also

funded the registration and payment of the school tuition, provided school

supplies, as well as provided weekly afterschool classes and follow up of his

educational development.

Section E: Financial Review E1 Policy on reserves Much of MySmallHelp UK's income is derived from non-recurring sources and therefore has no fixed or predictable pattern. Expenditure is based on an appeals system through which funds are channelled directly to the point of need. Based on this background, the reserve policy is to make sure that total cash balances do not fall below £1,000 at any one time to ensure that MySmallHelp UK continues to meet the needs of the beneficiaries and the organisation. At the financial year end, MySmallHelp UK had total cash reserves of £34,917, which was allocated to General fund £833 and projects in Nepal £30,587, Peru £3,497 and Mexico £nil.

E2 Financial statement review During the year, MySmallHelp UK collected total donations and other income of £49,520 an increase of £17,201 compared to the previous year. These amounts included contributions to the general fund of the charity of £142 as well as specific donations for projects in Peru (£2,481) Nepal (£46,886). Contributions received by the charity are allocated to the general fund when a donor does not dedicate the donation to a particular fund. Reflecting the charity’s success in raising funds, donations of £3,260 and £28,941 were made to MySmallHelp UK’s partner organisations in Peru and Nepal. Operational costs for the year were £1,032, including bank charges of £666. After the financial year end, a donor requested the return of a donation of £10,000 made during the year. The Trustees decided to return this donation on 21 May 2018 since the charity’s plans for projects in Nepal did not match the donor’s requirements as outlined at the time of the original donation. E3 Financial controls During the year, the Trustees reviewed internal controls and financial reporting and concluded that these controls were operating effectively, given the operational limitations that apply to smaller charitable organisations. Section F: Other Optional Information Nothing to report. Section G: Declaration The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ Report above and authorised signature of the report as shown below.
