Communication is the paramount force that binds people irrespective of race, gender, age, religion, and socio-economic status. Undeniably,
communication is the foundation of every community, the foundation of every society, and the strongest link between and among countries
towards one goal – globalization.
As a premier provider of quality English education, Pines International Academy (PIA) takes pride in its pool of teachers equipped with the
fundamentals of English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching. As educators dedicated to the holistic development of the Asian youth,
PIA teachers teach not only with excellence but with passion to bring out the creativity, intelligence, and efficiency amongst our students.
We ensure that every need of learners is addressed in terms of the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains that lead to “superlearning”
among them.
We believe that every learner is a work in progress – waiting to become a masterpiece in the field of language. At PIA, we painstakingly
build foundations of learning until the learners bloom into eloquent speakers and prolific writers ready to conquer the world with their
newly-acquired proficiency in the English language.
Certainly, language programs may be copied. Textbooks may be duplicated. Reputations may be fabricated. But the heart of our service
at PIA can never be imitated. Come to Pines International Academy, study with us and experience our sensible commitment to provide you
quality English education with a heart. This is our advocacy – to help you reach your potentials, to become a better you.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dr. Venus Agustin
President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Nearest country and Filipino virtues
It is less than 3 hours and a half away from Japan, Korea, China and many Asian countries by air and people in the Philippines are well-known for their hospitality. This makes it easy for foreign students to adjust to the Ph ilippine environment and to study with comfort.
Cultural experience
It is less than 3 and a half hours away by air from Japan, Korea, China and from many other Asian countries and people in the Philippines are well-known for their hospitality.
Why do people choose the Philippines to study English?
Best place for foreigners to study English
The Philippines has gained its popularity not only for its famous travel spots, but also for being the best place to study English. Since 1990, there has been a constant influx of foreigners especially from Korea and Japan, which makes it possible to develop and stabilize English programs for beginners. Many people who have studied in the Philippines are satisfied with their fast improvement and still choose this country to come back for their further study.
Good studying environment
Meals, room cleaning, and laundry are taken care of by school staff, which helps students concentrate on studying only. Unlike in other countries where foreigners are clustered to study, students who come to the Philippines need not to worry about doing house chores and visa extension.
1 on 1 class least cost but best effective
The best part of studying English in the Philippines is having one on one classes. Compared to other countries which are the U.S, Canada, Australia, U.K and New Zealand, students can avail of intensified and tailored classes in one on one classes with less expense. This type of class helps teachers focus on students’ weaknesses in English and enable students to practice more by boosting students’ confidence.

Why do people choose Baguio City to study English?
Optimum conditions for studying in BaguioBaguio city is located about 1,500 meters above sea level, high in the mountain range, allowing the city to have a cool weather throughout the year. Unlike other tourist attractions in the Philippines, there are no entertainment establishments and casinos in the city and this favorable condition helps learners focus on studying.
Tourist Spots near Baguio City It is very convenient for foreigners to easily travel to neighboring places and visit magnificent tourist spots around the archipelago. The sea and beaches are just less than 2 hours away from the city. There area lot more to enjoy while staying in Baguio, for example: The Rice Terraces of Banawe-regarded as one of the world treasures, cave exploration in Sagada, and the crystal clear sea of Hundred Islands.
Traditionally known as an Educational cityThere are 6 prestigious universities and major colleges in Baguio City, thereby providing a potential pool of ESL teachers who may be hired and selected by English academies. These educated teachers are further trained to provide high quality educational service to foreigners.
Commonly known as the Safest city Baguio City offers a safe and secure community compared to other cities in the country, and the people are nice to foreigners. In some parts of the Philippines, there is news of alarming crimes but Baguio City is an exception. Famous landmarks that are often visited include Mansion House - the official vacation house of the President of the Philippines, Philippine Military Academy which ensures safety of the entire community.

What is in the city of Baguio?

Camp John Hay
SM Department Store
Camp John HayThis former rest and recreation facility of the U.S. Armed Forces is older than the city itself. For almost the whole of the 20th century it is what made Baguio City in the Philippines "Little America." Camp John Hay's charm remains the same with its pine tree-lined roads, beautiful landscaping, quaint cottages and wide open spaces. The place remains a "must visit" for tourists.
Session RoadSession Road is the main thoroughfare of Baguio City and its commercial center, with a variety of shops, stores and offices lining each side. Session Road is so named because it was the site of the Philippine Commission's first session.
SM Department StoreBeing the biggest mall and the largest building in Baguio City, it houses more stores, entertainment centers as well as shops than any other mall located in the city. The cruise ship-patterned mall is surrounded by towering pine trees and beautiful lush gardens.
Mines ViewThe main attractions in Mines View Park nowadays would be the commercial activities such as the souvenir and silverworks stores by the park. Tourists also have a chance to get dressed in full Cordillera regalia -- bahag, shield and spear for the men, tapis for the ladies, vests and headdresses for both.

Burnham ParkOriginally intended to serve as a much-needed green park, to provide a bustling city with a peaceful environment with wide open green spaces, Burnham Park under Filipino administration is now more of an amusement park with boating, bicycle and skating areas, sports and gaming areas, plus a few eateries.
Mansion House and Wright ParkThe Mansion is the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. Directly across The Mansion is Wright Park that features the much photographed Baguio landmark, the "Pool of Pines". One will see a gazebo and a long flight of stairs down the hill leading to the Wright Park Riding Circle, where hundreds of horses and ponies of various sizes are for hire.
Baguio CathedralThe majestic church located on top of a hill in the heart of the city, it is one of the more familiar icons and most visited landmarks of the city. Its beautiful rose-colored structure is distinguished from other churches in the Philippines by its twin spires.
PMA(Philippine Military Academy) PMA is full of tradition and pageantry. There are drill exhibitions on weekends, alumni homecoming and celebrations in February and graduation ceremonies at the end of the school year. The manicured grounds are open to the public all year round. Call PMA for a schedule of parades, exhibitions and other events.
Highest percentage of class attendance and study extension
Students’ attendance is monitored every hour to determine their attendance in class. As a result, this practice contributes to the fact that PIA has a high rate in terms of study extension. Students find it helpful and efficient to stay longer because they could see big improvement in themselves term by term.
Four-week term basis and Advanced Course Campus
PIA is the only academy in the Philippines that operates an academic term of four weeks. There are three main departments in PIA, namely: Refresher, Bridging and Advanced. Refresher and Bridging Departments are both located in Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza, whereas, Chapis Advanced Course campus is situated in a separate establishment that strictly implements the English Speaking Zone Policy.
PIA Features
PIA observes rigid and high standard practices in its hiring system as compared to other ESL institutions. With all the Human Resources programs exclusively provided to PIA teachers, the quality of teachers produced is by far superior as compared to any other ESL schools in the Philippines.
Excellent ESL teachers equipped with competent teaching skills
08
Students, who come to PIA on the same date, belong to a similar batch managed by one Korean manager. PIA students are well taken care of by experienced managers who have worked in PIA for at least 3 years. Likewise, all student managers have studied in PIA and have been abroad for English studies.
Batch manager system
PIA offers ESL curricula that ensure optimum language learning warranted by tailored-maid textbooks and other instructional materials to meet students’ need. Also, teachers possess the required technical know-how to properly guide the students in learning the English language.
Best ESL Curriculum
Ratio of Foreign Nationals
PIA serves nutritious meals 3 times a day on regular class days which include rice, meat, vegetables, and soup. A healthy diet enhances students’ body immune system to study with higher level of concentration.
Nutritious meals
With Korean students comprising the bulk of student body in PIA, 15%~25% of the entire population is composed of other nationalities such as Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese. Also, the duration of students’ stay in PIA is comparatively longer compared to other ESL schools in the Philippines.
In the main campus situated at Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza, convenient facilities are accessible, such as supermarket, bank, ATM, pharmacy, massage shop, and small food court. Most importantly, it takes only 10 minutes by taxi to reach the Central Business District from Cooyeesan.
Convenient school facilities
Diverse Option Class
In one term, students are required to take a test on a weekly basis to know the progression of their studies and to accurately check on the improvement of their learning during their stay. Based on the results, the students are placed in their respective campuses in accordance with the score obtained.
Accurate Level Test and PEPT
Apart from the regular ESL curriculum, PIA continues to update and create more practical English classes to meet students’ special needs. As such, a variety of option classes to encourage further learning in a fun-filled and more practical manner were added.

It is generally administered to non-native speakers, specifically Asian students in order to gauge their strengths and weaknesses along the four English language macro skills namely, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Through the detailed result of the test, students are advised to intensify their respective focus on the area which needs improvement.
Assessment is an integral part of learning a second language in order to determine the progression of learners from one proficiency level to another. Thus, in PIA, the learners are subjected to two main types of tests, namely : subject test and the Pines English Proficiency Test (PEPT).
