The Story Of Our Redemption

We begin the final week of Lent with these familiar readings. This year, we hear the Passion from the Gospel of Luke. These readings for Palm Sunday and the Passion used to be read on successive Sundays. Now they are combined into a single feast, so that we may see the whole sweep of the glory and the suffering played out. Jesus accepts the adulation of the crowd, the foreshadowing of his glory in the Resurrection. He bids farewell to his disciples in his last Passover, and forgives his tormentors as he dies on the cross. Later this week, we enter the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, when the whole story of our redemption will play out once again. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

St. Elizabeth Canopy Project

We thank our St Elizabeth Community for all the monetary support and your prayers for our Church Canopy.

With a great joy we like to inform you now that the Church Canopy project has been approved by the City of Milpitas and we now have the permit to begin construction.

We are now obtaining bids from contractors and we will obtain a price for the construction cost when the bidding process is finished.

From the Teens Corner… There is no Teen meeting on Sunday, April 21st. We hope you and your family have a Happy Easter! The last Teen Program meeting for the school year will be Sunday, April 28th, following the 6:00 pm Teen Mass. We invite all our Teens to attend to this Mass.

Salubong Sunday, April 21st

The Fil-Am Ministry is inviting you all to join and celebrate the Easter Sunrise called “Salubong” at 7:00 am on April 21st Easter Sunday. Salubong is an Easter Sunday pre-dawn ritual that reenacts the Risen Christ's meeting with His mother. We will pray one Decade of the Holy Rosary in the Church, following the procession outside of our parking lot.

Sunday, April 14, 2019 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

May the abundant blessings of God, His grace, His kindness and His mercy be with all of you this Holy Week.

With Palm Sunday we inaugurate Holy Week, in which the Church invites us to live

with respect, making a space for silence to meditate on the mysteries of salvation, the passion and loving surrender of our Lord Jesus Christ, to rescue us from sin and death. Today, Palm Sunday, we remember the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, where riding a donkey, He is acclaimed by the crowds and criticized by the Pharisees and authorities.

The Church invites us in this day to recognize Jesus Christ as true God and Lord of our lives; to acclaim Him not simply with some palms in the hand, but with our heart; to be happy and jubilant because He enters into our lives, where we want His love and grace to govern forever.

He is the servant who suffers and who surrenders without offering resistance, because He knows that His sacrifice is the salvation of the human race, and that the best throne He can have is the clean and sincere heart of the human being, center of the Father's creation, so that we can rejoice fully with the promise of eternal life (Isaiah 50:4-7).

Today we listened to the reading of the Lord's Passion. It is a story that moves the heart of the person who believes in this mystery of salvation, and who is moved by the greatness of a loving Father who, to save us, gives His own Son into the hands of sinners to a death on a cross. Therefore, in response to His infinite love, and to all the efforts that we have made in this time of Lent, let us answer to the call to have a positive change of life, so that no effort is worthless.

It is time to shelter under the protection of Our Mother, the Virgin Mary, remembering the love of a mother who suffers the passion of the Son. As grateful children, let us walk this week with her, so that this week won’t be another Holy Week in our life, but truly a holy time of reflection that leaves us that peace of God and a willingness to walk firmly to the redemption that His Son offers to us. That you may have a holy time and a week of union with Christ.

If you praise those who praise you, accept those who accept you, and keep company with those who share your opinions, then you have neither charity nor wisdom. It is a case of the blind leading the blind.

A community that has an extremely "saintly" person will often find that person the unwitting cause of martyrdoms.

If you would only put yourself in the place of others you would soon realize how careless and irresponsible your public statement may be, and you would become more prudent.

Things are easier said than done. People are very quick to condemn the present, to yearn for the past, and to applaud their own plans for the future. But when that future becomes the present, they forbid all criticism.

CHÚA NHẬT LỄ LÁ - NĂM C THEO CHÚA GIÊSU CHỊU THƯƠNG KHÓ Bài đọc 1: Is 50:4-7 Ngôn sứ Isaia cho biết Chúa Giêsu là Tôi Tớ Chúa Cha, sẵn lòng chịu cực hình theo ý Chúa Cha. Người đặt trọn niềm tin cậy vào Chúa Cha là Ðấng luôn phù trợ Người. Bài đọc 2: Pl 2:6-11 Chúa Giêsu là Thiên Chúa, nhưng tự hạ làm Tôi Tớ Chúa Cha, vâng lời đến chết trên khổ giá. Vì thế Thiên Chúa đã tôn vinh Người, đặt Người làm Chúa muôn loài muôn vật. Tin Mừng: Lc 22:14-24;56 Tin Mừng hôm nay thuật lại sự thương khó và cái chết của Chúa Giêsu trên thập giá. Người vô tội. Ngài là người Tôi Trung đã cam chịu và tận hiến chính mình mà không chống trả lại, bởi vì Ngài biết rằng sự hy sinh của Ngài sẽ mang lại sự cứu rỗi cho nhân loại, và hiệu lực tối cao mà Ngài muốn đánh đổi là tâm hồn trong sạch và sự thành thật của con người, nguyên là trọng tâm của sự sáng tạo từ Chúa Cha, để rồi chúng ta có thể vui mừng trọn vẹn với lời hứa được tận hưởng sự sống đời đời (Isaia 50: 4-7).

Hôm nay chúng ta lắng nghe bài đọc về Cuộc Khổ Nạn của Chúa. Câu chuyện đã làm lay động trái tim những ai tin vào mầu nhiệm cứu độ, đã làm cho người ta phải xao động trước một tình yêu thật cao cả của Chúa Cha, vì để cứu chúng ta, Ngài đã giao chính Con một của Ngài vào tay những kẻ tội lỗi để rồi phải bị chết trên Thập tự giá. Bởi đó, để đáp lại tình yêu vô biên của Thiên Chúa, bằng tất cả mọi nỗ lực mà chúng ta đã thực hiện trong Mùa Chay này, hãy đáp lại lời mời gọi và cố gắng làm được một thay đổi tích cực nào đó trong cuộc sống, để không có một nỗ lực nào bị trở nên vô nghĩa.

Đây là lúc chúng ta phải nương tựa vào sự bảo hộ của Đức Trinh Nữ Maria, Mẹ chúng ta, suy niệm về tình mẫu tử khi Mẹ đau đớn chịu đựng cuộc tử nạn của Con mình. Như những người con biết nhớ ơn, chúng ta hãy cùng bước đi với Mẹ trong tuần này, để tuần này không chỉ là một Tuần Thánh nữa như bao Tuần Thánh khác qua đi trong cuộc đời của chúng ta, nhưng thật sự là một thời gian suy gẫm thiêng liêng mang lại cho chúng ta sự bình an của Thiên Chúa, và chúng ta sẵn sàng vững bước đi vào công trình cứu chuộc mà Con của Ngài đã ban tặng cho chúng ta. Cầu chúc Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em có được một thời gian thánh thiện và một tuần lễ kết hiệp mật thiết với Chúa Kitô. TỪNG BƯỚC THEO NGÀI… Đây cũng là lịch trình mà Phụng vụ Giáo hội chọn theo. – Chúa nhật Lễ Lá, nhằm ngày 2 tháng 4 năm 30 công nguyên: Đức Giêsu vào thành Giêrusalem. – Thứ Hai, Thứ Ba, Thứ Tư Tuần Thánh nhằm các ngày 3,4,5 tháng 4 năm 30: Ban ngày Đức Giêsu giảng dạy trong sân Đền thờ. Ban đêm Ngài lui khỏi thành Giêrusa-lem, đến nghỉ tại làng Bêtania. Ngày xưa, có một ông vua muốn thử xem dân chúng ra sao, liền ăn mặc quần áo thường dân đi thật xa ra ngoài cung thành.

Ông đặt một tảng đá thật to giữa một con đường nhiều người qua lại, không phải để bắt buộc người dân phải bê nó đi, mà muốn xem người dân sẽ phản ứng tự nhiên ra sao với những vật gây cản trở mà họ bất ngờ gặp trên đường.

Sau khi đặt tảng đá, ông nấp vào một chỗ gần đó, làm người quan sát. Nhiều người trông rất giàu có và lịch sự, ăn mặc rất diện đi qua. Họ than phiền với nhau rằng tảng đá làm nghẽn đường đi, coi nó là một vât đáng ghét. Thậm chí còn xúc phạm Đức Vua đã không cho người giữ đường xá sạch sẽ. Nhưng rõ ràng ai cũng bỏ qua tảng đá ở đó, họ thà đi vòng qua nó chứ không chịu đẩy nó ra khỏi đường đi.

Rồi một bác nông dân nghèo đi chợ về ngang với một giỏ đầy rau. Nhìn thấy tảng đá, bác đặt giỏ của mình xuống và cố đầy tảng đá đi. Nhiều người đi qua thấy vậy, cười giễu bác là nhiễu sự. Không ai dừng lại giúp đỡ bác.

Sau nhiều nỗ lực, cuối cùng bác nông dân cũng thành công. Khi đẩy tảng đá đi được, bác mới phát hiện có một cái túi nằm trên đường, ở chổ mà lúc nãy tảng đá nằm. Bác mở cái túi thì thấy có rất nhiều tiền, vì bác đã hiểu được một điều mà nhiều người khác không hiểu. *** Mỗi trở ngại đều ẩn chứa những cơ hội cho mỗi con người. Trích trong Lẽ Sống.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas en Cristo Jesús:

Que las bendiciones abundantes de Dios y su gracia estén con todos ustedes y que la bondad y misericordia de Dios sean con

ustedes esta Semana Santa.

Con el Domingo de Ramos inauguramos la Semana Santa, y la Iglesia nos invita a vivirla con respeto y haciendo un espacio al silencio para meditar los misterios de la salvación, la pasión y entrega amorosa de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, para rescatarnos del pecado y de la muerte. Hoy Domingo de Ramos recordamos la entrada de Jesús a Jerusalén, donde montando un burrito es aclamado por las multitudes y la crítica de fariseos y autoridades.

La Iglesia invita en este día a reconocer a Jesucristo como verdadero Dios y Señor de nuestras vidas y que el aclamarlo no es simplemente con unos ramos en la mano, sino con nuestro corazón, estar contentos y jubilosos porque entra a nuestra vida y que queremos que su amor y gracia gobiernen por siempre. Él es el siervo que sufre y que se entrega sin ofrecer resistencia, porque sabe que su sacrificio es la salvación del género humano, y que el mejor trono que puede tener es el corazón limpio y sincero del ser humano, centro de la creación del Padre, para que podamos alegrarnos plenamente con la promesa de la vida eterna. (Isaías 50:4-7)

Hoy escuchamos la lectura de la Pasión del Señor, y es un rela-to que mueve el corazón de la persona que cree en este misterio de salvación, y que se conmueve de la grandeza de un Padre amoroso que por salvarnos entrega a su propio Hijo en manos de los pecadores a una muerte de Cruz. Por eso un llamado a un cambio positivo de vida como respuesta a su amor infinito, y a todo el esfuerzo que hemos hecho en este tiempo de la Cuaresma, que no sea vano ningún esfuerzo.

Es tiempo de cobijarnos bajo la protección de nuestra Madre, la Vírgen María, y acompañar recordando ese amor de madre que sufre la pasión del Hijo, como hijos agradecidos caminar esta semana con ella, que no sea una Semana Santa más en nuestra vida, sino verdaderamente un tiempo santo de reflexión que nos deje esa paz de Dios y una disposición de caminar firmemente a la redención que nos ofrece su Hijo. Pasen pues un tiempo santo y una semana de unión con Cristo.

¡Dios les bendiga hoy y siempre junto a sus familiares y amigos!

La Historia de Nuestra Redención Empezamos la última semana de Cuaresma con estas lecturas ya conocidas. Este año, el Domingo de Ramos escuchamos la narración de la Pasión tomada del Evangelio de Lucas. Estas lecturas para el Domingo de Ramos y la Pasión solían leerse los domingos sucesivos. Ahora están combinadas en una sola celebración, para que así podamos ver toda la extensión de la gloria y el sufrimiento llevado a cabo. Jesús acepta la adulación de la gente, el anuncio de su gloria en la Resurrección. Él se despide de sus discípulos en su última pascua; y perdona a sus verdugos cuando muere en la cruz. Más adelante esta semana, entramos al Triduo Pascual de Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo y Sábado Santo, cuando toda la historia de nuestra redención se haga realidad. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe

La liturgia oficial de la Iglesia para el Domingo de Ramos es algo paradójica. Entramos proclamando Hosannas con cantos y vitoreas y al poco tiempo estamos gritando: “¡crucifícalo, crucifícalo!” Según el rito la lectura del Evangelio y la consagración de la Eucaristía se hacen dentro del templo, pero se comienza afuera del templo con la bendición de los ramos. En los Estados Unidos y otros países latinoamericanos se usan palmas en lugar de ramos. En Europa, normalmente, se usan ramos de olivos. Últimamente en Colombia para proteger la palma de cera del Quindío, se les ha pedido a los fieles que usen ramitas de plantas o ramos de flores. Estoy de acuerdo hay que proteger el ambiente, pero admito que prefiero las palmas, ya que es difícil poner un ramo de olivo o de flores detrás de una imagen sagrada colgada en la pared. Esta es una costumbre latina que nos recuerda que los “hosannas” y el “crucifícalo” del domingo de ramos nos acompañan todos los días del año. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida

Invitamos a la comunidad a compartir con el Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida todos los miércoles a partir de las 7:00 pm en la iglesia. Nos reunimos para aprender más de la palabra, dar gracias a nuestro Padre Dios por las maravillas que hace, venimos a ofrecerle alabanzas y también tenemos conferencistas que los invitamos a darnos testimonios de fe, esperanza y caridad.

Escuche el llamado de Jesús y venga a adorarle y glorificarle.

Jesús Anuncia el Amor del Reino de Dios

Jesús ya caminó, sanó enfermos, perdonó pecados, hizo milagros y comió con las personas. Su mensaje fue simple pero muy profundo; en Cristo, el reino de Dios está cerca. Jesús anunció el amor del Reino de Dios, enseñando todo a quien escuchaba. En el reino de Dios, el más grande es como el más joven, el líder es el servidor. Aquellos que siguen a Jesús están llamados a lavar los pies, atender a los más abandonados, ser misericordiosos con el pecador y amar a los enemigos. Aún en la hora de su pasión, Jesús no rechazó su misión de amor. Él sanó la oreja de Malco, uno de los que habían ido a arrestarlo, no atacó verbalmente a Pilato o Herodes, consoló a las mujeres que lloraban y perdonó a los que lo crucificaron. Él escuchó el gritó del criminal que le hablaba desde la cruz y le prometió un lugar en el Paraíso. Jesús nos mostró que el camino de Dios es el camino del amor a toda costa, incluso cuando signifique dar más de lo que pensamos es apropiado o posible.

Compartimos la Misión de Cristo

¡No nos equivoquemos! La misericordia y el perdón de Jesús lo guío a la cruz y nosotros quienes lo seguimos seguramente experimentaremos una prueba y no seremos comprendidos en nuestra decisión de vivir como discípulos. Seremos llamados para tomar decisiones difíciles acerca de la forma en que vivimos nuestras vidas, servimos a nuestro prójimo, a lo que dedicamos nuestro tiempo y dinero, mostramos paciencia, apoyamos a los pobres y más abandona-dos. Los amigos pueden darnos la espalda, familiares pueden cuestionar nuestro compromiso con Cristo sobre todas las cosas. Jesús permaneció centrado en la voluntad de Dios. Y también nosotros debemos hacerlo. Jesús dio sin considerar lo que costaba, y también lo debemos hacer nosotros. En Cristo, nosotros también tenemos una misión de amor. Nosotros, también, somos llamados a permanecer enfocados en la voluntad de Dios. En esto, anunciaremos el reino de Dios y aseguraremos nuestro lugar en el cuándo Cristo regrese en su gloria. En esta Semana Santa, reflexionemos profundamente en el misterio del amor de Dios por nosotros en Cristo y renovemos nuestro compromiso como discípulos cristianos en el mundo.
