WELCOME TO SUMMER AT TRINITYWelcome to our Summer Season at Trinity Theatre! Whilst there is no knowing if the climate will refl ect the time of the year anytime soon, I can promise a wealth of up coming entertainment - dramatic productions, comedy and music from local bands, and artists from further afi eld.

We also have loads for young people with our Sunday afternoon productions, as well as our extremely popular youth programme and summer workshops.

Our widely diverse and captivating fi lm programme continues. There are many hidden delights in our range of foreign, independent and animated features and I highly recommend your coming to a screening if you haven’t yet done so.

With all the talk of new cinemas opening in Tunbridge Wells please spread the word that we are still the only screen in the centre of town!

This year sees two big anniversaries – the Queen’s 90th and the Bard’s 400th and we will be celebrating both throughout the year.

As always, my thanks to you, our audience, for your continued and growing support – without you we simply could not do what we are currently doing – or develop exciting plans for the future. Kenneth Grahame’s unforgettable assembly of animals and humans is lovingly recreated with a script that fl ows as confi dently as the river it evokes. A trio of performers from the Cat’s Grin Theatre Company conjures up a multitude of characters, including Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toad; and the Wild Wooders – Frightening Frank the Ferret, Sniggering Stan the Stoat and the Whining Chief Weasel. This is an enchanting production about selfl ess friendship in an idyllic riverside setting.

Combine your love of storytelling and drawing through creating your own comic book. Simon Gregory, professional Illustrator and comic book fanatic, will teach you the basics of creating a character and different techniques to achieve your style. An Introduction To Visual Effects is the next step to your fi lm making training. Over three days local fi lmmaker Samuel Marlow will show you how to create different types of visual effects; ranging from miniature photography and simple compositing to magical super-powers. You will then use these new skills to create a trailer for a superhero movie. Due to the fast paced nature of this project there are only twelve places available, so book fast!

Due to last year’s success, our Technical Summer School is back again this July. Split between Trinity Theatre and Skinners Kent Academy, this fi ve day intensive course will teach you the basics of becoming a theatre technician. Over the week you will design and build a theatre set, rig and plot lights, programme sounds and learn the basics of stage managing in a working theatre from behind the scenes.

TYTC 2016 Summer Schools Trinity Summer Schools programme is back for another year. Offering a fantastic opportunity for young budding performers to rehearse and perform a live musical production on the Trinity Theatre stage. The

youth cast rehearse Monday to Friday and then perform twice on the Saturday in an enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere.

Booking Information: Box Office opening hours are Mon - Sat 10am to 3pm, and 1 hour before performances. Tickets can be purchased in person, or over the phone* on 01892 678 678 during Box Office opening times. Tickets are available online* at www.trinitytheatre.net. Please make the Box Office aware of any access requirements at the time of booking. Access is via a ramp to the ground floor, carers go free and guide dogs are welcome. Induction loop system is on for all performances.

Discounts Reservations And Conditions: Discounts on some performances are available to concessions and Trinity Friends. Concessions can apply to those in full time education, senior citizens (65+), Go! Card holders and the registered disabled, subject to performance. Children’s tickets are for ages 15 & under. All tickets are non-transferable, non-refundable and subject to availability. There is no cash alternative. Please note that film offers apply only to the current season. Group bookings receive 1 ticket free in every 10 tickets purchased (subject to show). The cheapest ticket is free.

Programme: All information is correct at the time of going to press but the management reserves the right to alter or cancel an event without prior notice. Trinity does not accept responsibility for the content of theatre hires.

On The Night: For a prompt start Trinity operates a three bell system, latecomers will be admitted at the discretion of the management. Interval drinks can be pre-ordered at the bar.

Parking: Trinity has a limited number of parking spaces with 2 reserved spaces for Blue Badge holders (no charge for badge holders).

Penalties: Any vehicles parked in breach of the parking conditions will be issued with an excess charge notice. Trinity does not receive any financial or other benefit from these charges.

Katie has a background in set design, Dorothy in fi ne art and interior design, and Lucy in business. Lucy and Katie are current members of Chalk Gallery. Dot exhibited in South East Open Studios 2015. This exhibition represents their fi rst collaboration.

Ragnarök is the second solo exhibition by Tunbridge Wells based Illustrator and Trinity Theatre’s Associate Artist, Matt Syms. The concept takes playing card design and unites it with the characters and deities of Norse Mythology (Odin, Thor, Loki, Fenrir etc.) in a fresh and unique perspective on a familiar and venerable subject. Drawn in graphite pencil, digitally remastered with colour, the exhibition will be Matt Syms’ largest body of work yet embarked upon.

Somewhere between 2-D and 3-D, between Halifax and Kent, between a rock and a hard spot, lies the collaborative work between Jo, a painter in the expressionistic genre, and Karen, a site specifi c sculptress. Together they address the issues of collaboration, gravity, form and surface.

Shirley is a screen printer who produces no more than six original prints in any edition. Spending time between her homes in the UK and Italy, Shirley is stimulated by a wide variety of subject matter: landscapes, nature, people, shapes and form, and is always excited by the next inspiration. The colours used refl ect her energy and the vitality that she sees in the world. This exhibition is an eclectic sample of this diversity of approach.

An exhibition of ceramics and brush painting. A western interest in invention and completion combined with an Eastern focus on tradition, process and practice. The moment of making, captured by ink on paper or in clay and glazes twice fi red to white heat. Unique handmade pieces which sit on the aesthetic boundary between art and craft.
