As we create our homes today, I believe we’re seeking design that is fresh yet warm, timeless yet casual and sophisticated yet easy to live with.The artful contrast of light and dark veneers and the blending of an urban contemporary attitude with classic design motifs make the Trilogy Collection by Hooker Furniture a versatile palette on which you can express your personal style. With its juxtaposition of

pedigreed traditional and clean urban design, Trilogy lends itself to a variety of lifestyles ranging from big city loft to waterfront warehouse to suburban charm.As I designed Trilogy, I was inspired by three beautiful wood species, rich dark walnut and a lighter medium walnut as well as the brightness of golden birch. Also, I’ve always been captivated by the artistic nature of wood inlays in motifs such as circles, diamonds and stripes. Trilogy celebrates the rich heritage of craftsmanship associated with exquisite wood inlay veneer work and the fine quality construction reminiscent of European cabinet making. I love the idea of lasting things, lovely quality things that are well made and cherished through generations.As the Trilogy collection unfolded, I began to view it as a work of art with three distinct expressions. Thus the collection earned its name, Trilogy, which means three works of art that are connected. First, Trilogy encompasses three fine wood species of dark and medium walnut and bright birch. Second, in Trilogy I designed fine inlay design motifs including the classic mitered border rectangle for doors and drawers and then added a timeless elegant circle and a striking diamond motif. Finally, Trilogy embraces three distinct lifestyles – clean urban contemporary, casual transitional and classic transitional with a traditional pedigree.While I love traditional design, I also love adding a contemporary and unexpected flavor. Some of my favorite pieces in the collection embody this harmony. For instance, the bow-front buffet is a truly contemporary form, yet exudes a reference to rich tradition in the historic walnut mitered doors. The sleigh bed is inspired by a classic 18th Century French form with the diamond inlay added, yet is very cleanly interpreted for today’s lifestyles. My favorite piece is the signature accent chest on the cover of this catalog. The silhouette exudes a timeless grace yet employs a contemporary use of contrast in the light, dark and medium stripes, creating an iconic look.My hope is that Trilogy will help you create a home filled with grace and warmth, an elegant home where you can relax and entertain in a setting that is stylish yet casual, with designs that you can pass down to future generations.

Of all the aspects of wood furniture, the finish most visibly reflects its character, quality and style. While the finish is one of the last things we do, it’s the first thing you see. That’s why at Hooker, we utilize a multiple-step finish process of up to 16 finish steps. This results in an unsurpassed clarity, depth and color richness and durability to our finishes. Through hand-craftsmanship such as rubbing and padding, our finishes “feel” as good as they look, with a smoothness that is delightful to the touch.

What to look for in finishes, drawers and wood furniture construction

Wood & Veneer ConstructionMany of our furniture items are constructed of hardwood solids and veneers or hand-painted finishes over durable wood products such as medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particle board. MDF and particle board are used in quality furniture for areas that need to be stable, such as large surfaces. These durable wood products do not expand and contract with heat and cold and do not absorb moisture as much as solid wood, which results in stronger and longer-lasting furniture. Due to a wide variety of wood species and decorative designs used in our furniture styles, variations in construction are possible.
