The “RC” approach promotes academic achievement, decreases problem behaviors, improves social skills and leads to more high

The Responsive Classroom approach (RC) integrates social and academic learning in order to produce classroom environments that are conducive to learning. The RC approach promotes academic achievement, decreases problem behaviors, improves social skills and leads to more high quality instruction (NEFC 2007). The teachers and staff members at KRS recognize the importance of a successful academic and social learning community. Students are encouraged to exercise self-discovery and higher level thinking skills with the opportunities to practice and make mistakes in a safe environment. Students are expected to demonstrate responsibility, respect, cooperation, integrity, perseverance, and kindness each and every day. Our mission at KRS is to develop the whole child, academically, socially, physically and emotionally. Our school has adopted the RC approach to mold active citizens capable of positively contributing to their communities.
