RULES & REGULATIONS
STAGE 1: - PHOTOGRAPHIC HEAT
THE HAIRDRESSING TEAM
1. TrendVision Award 2019 is open to all UK and Ireland residents who are professional hairdressers aged
18 years and over, who are employed by a commercial salon or self-employed hairdressers with more than

2. There is no upper age limitation for the competitor, model or assistant in the TrendVision Award 2019.
3. No employee of Coty Inc., or their families,
will be allowed to enter the TrendVision Award 2019.
4. Please note, only one assistant is allowed per competitor. Competitors are allowed to share one assistant
if they wish, but they cannot use several assistants among each other. The competitor is allowed to change
their assistant at every competition stage. The assistant does not have to be employed by the participating
salon.
5. The model can be changed anytime during the competition but the competitor must stay the same. The
model does not have to be employed by the participating salon.
6. The competitor may change between the Photographic heat and the Regional
& Ireland heats, and between the Regional & Ireland heats and the UK & Ireland final.

7. Only the competitor (whose name is on the online entry form) is eligible to win.
THE SALON
8. Salons are allowed to enter as many competitors as they like. Competitors are allowed to enter more than
one category if they wish. However, competitors may only submit one online entry per category.
9. The salon that appears on the online entry form will be the salon that the hairdresser must represent in
the Photographic heat, the Regional & Ireland heats, the UK & Ireland final and the International final.
Competing at the International final is only relevant for the Creative Artist of the Year and Color Artist of
the Year categories. Should a competitor leave their employment (i.e. move to a different salon) during any
stage of the competition, they will lose their right to compete. In the case of withdrawal of a competitor, the
salon loses the right to compete.
THE ONLINE ENTRY
10. Please note that the competitor should submit their photographic entry to the chosen category using the
online entry form. Competitor should take their inspiration from a variety of sources including the Wella
Professionals collections, art, photography and fashion.
11. Please note that the competitor does not have to be an existing Wella account holder to enter the
competition, nor do they have to use Wella Professionals products for their photographic entry. However,
should competitor go through to the Regional & Ireland heats and the UK & Ireland final, they will only be
able to use Wella Professionals products.
12. If more than one category is entered into by a competitor, each entry must showcase a totally unique
look. Due to judging criteria, the same look cannot be entered into multiple categories. If a competitor is
successful in getting through to the Regional & Ireland heats in more than one category, the competitor will
13. A fully completed online entry form consists of:
a) An agreement to the disclaimer.
b) Two portrait colour photographs (head and shoulders) of the model
looks. The Before and Finished Look images should NOT be identical, and salon names should NOT
be visible anywhere in the images (e.g. branded gowns, logos in background etc.)
c) Written explanations to the questions about how the Finished Look was achieved. Questions vary
depending on the category chosen to enter.
d) Information about the competitor and their model.
If any entry does not comply with the above, it will be disqualified.
14. On the entry form, an applicant will be required to select one of the 5 regions (4 regions in the UK and
1 in Ireland) in which the salon that they work at is based. They will be competing in this region should they
progress through to the Regional & Ireland heats. Please ensure the region is selected based on the
physical/actual address of the salon that the competitor works at.

15. The entry into the competition is free.
16. Professional photographs are not necessary for entry to the competition.
17. Entries that have been previously published (either online or in print) cannot be considered.
18. Entrants grant Promoter with a transferrable, exclusive, worldwide, royalty free and perpetual license
in all copyright, moral or other rights under the Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988 to use the photos
and any materials, videos and images generated during the TrendVision Award competition (whether they
proceed to the Regional & Ireland heats, and UK & Ireland Final or not) for any purpose whatsoever (including
Award event, PR content print and online, editorial, advertising and advertorial content, trade press and
2019/2020 competition promotion print and online and educational or internal purposes, etc.).
19. Overuse of Photoshop will result in disqualification. It can be used minimally to even out skin tone, tidy
up clothing or to remove an errant hair. Competitor should not use it for creating, enhancing or manipulating
the hair.
20. Promoter cannot accept responsibility for entries not successfully submitted online. Competitor will
receive an email confirmation when their entry is submitted successfully.
21. The deadline is final. No entries will be accepted after the closing date of Wednesday, 20th March 2019
(5pm).
JUDGING
22. Please note that the requirements for each category vary from stage to stage (the Photographic heat,
the Regional & Ireland heats, the UK & Ireland final and the International final). Please ensure you refer to
the relevant section of the Rules & Regulations for guidance on the requirements for the category chosen to
enter into. At the Photographic Heat an independent judging panel will specifically be looking for and will
mark in the following way for each category:

CREATIVE ARTIST OF THE YEAR CATEGORY
The highest hair craftsmanship skills and the most creative

The competitor must be totally responsible for all elements contributing to the cut, finish and style

Extensions of artificial hair

Demonstrates the highest hair craftsmanship and skill in the technique of cutting and finishing
and facial grooming that reflects the current male market.

Must demonstrate the ability to create a professional finish & explain the inspiration to the model s
overall look.
Excellent finishing skills must be demonstrated.

Demonstrate ability to create a mid to long hair fashion runway look and explain the inspiration
behind it.
Styling technique and control of hair should be demonstrated.
Excellent finishing skills of the hair must be demonstrated.
The use of hair extensions, pieces, padding, wefts and accessories are allowed to create the look.
30% Overall Vision & Look
Total look (style, finish, make-up, clothes/fitting).

23. The photographic entries will be judged by a minimum of 12 hairdressing industry leaders selected by
Promoter.
For each of the 4 UK Regional heats judges will select the following number of entries:
Color Artist of the Year 15 entries
Creative Artist of the Year 15 entries
Male Grooming 5 entries
Runway 5 entries
All entries allocated to Ireland region will be judged to select the following number of entries :
Color Artist of the Year 12 entries
Creative Artist of the Year 12 entries
Male Grooming 5 entries
Runway 5 entries
Successful competitors will go through to the Regional & Ireland heats.
24. Competitors selected to go through to the Regional & Ireland heats will be notified via an announcement
on the Wella Professionals Facebook page by 5pm on Thursday, 4th April 2019. Competitors will also
receive a follow up email after this date.
25.The judges decision is final, and no discussions or correspondence will be entered into in relation to this.
OTHER
26. Any contravention of the rules will render a competitor liable for disqualification.
27. Online entry implies acceptance of these rules.
28. Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to, acting in the interests of fairness, add to or
waive any of these terms and conditions. Promoter reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage,
in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.

11. Travel and costs to and from the venue
12. Please note that the competitor should create their final model look in their chosen category on the day
of the competition within the competition time limit using Wella Professionals products. Competitor should
take their inspiration from a variety of sources including the Wella Professionals collection, art, photography
and fashion.
13. Competitors will have 1 hour to complete styling, finishing, clothes styling and make-up (applicable to
all categories). Please note, the model can be dressed and base make-up can be applied prior to the
competition. Base make-up includes foundation and blusher but excludes lip and eye make-up as well as
pre-set in any way prior to the
competition.
14. All colour and cutting work for Color Artist of the Year category, Creative Artist of the Year category and
Runway MUST be carried out prior to the competition and must be done using only Wella Professionals
products. For Male Grooming all colour work MUST be carried out prior to the competition and must be
done using only Wella Professionals products.

16. The model must arrive with clean hair, as there will be no facilities for shampooing during the
competition. For haircut and styling models the hair must be sprayed wet before the competition commences
(Color Artist of the Year, Male Grooming and cut and styling models in Creative Artist of the Year). For hair
dressing and styling models the hair must be dry and in its natural state with no styling products previously
applied before the competition commences (Runway category and hair up models in the Creative Artist of
the Year category). There should be no hair up work in the Color Artist of the Year or Male Grooming
category.
17. On completion of the 1 hour, each competitor will be expected to present their model and give an
overview to the Judges on the finished look. The presentation must include the inspiration and background
behind interpretation.
Please note competitors must present from their own device or mood board. Promoter will not provide
any additional supporting technical equipment. The presentation should give details behind the concept of
the total look and include the following depending upon the chosen category:

guests (including children/babies) will be allowed at the competition during the day. Only the competitor,
model and assistant will be allowed backstage at the evening event. No spectators or guests (including
children/babies) will be allowed in the backstage area.

20. At the Regional & Ireland heats all work throughout the competition will be observed by an
independent judging panel. As the competition starts, judges will move freely amongst the competitors to
assess their work.
21. At the
marks are averaged for each competitor in order to calculate their position relative to one another. In the
event of the draw, both competitors will go through to the next stage of the competition.
22. Competitors who have gone through to the UK & Ireland final will be announced onstage at each of the
Regional & Ireland heat.

26. Promoter will provide all styling and technical products. Each competitor is responsible for providing
their own personal equipment such as scissors, brushes and combs, make-up and clothes for completing the
finished look.
27. Promoter will supply hairdryers with diffusers, straightening irons and water sprays. If a competitor
wishes to use a specific item of electrical equipment of their own e.g. tongs and heated rollers, they must
comply with Electrical Safety at Work Regulations under the Health and Safety Act, and must be supported
by a current safety certificate. Adapters are not permitted. Wella Professionals accepts no responsibility for

STAGE 3 UK & IRELAND FINAL
THE HAIRDRESSING TEAM
1. TrendVision Award 2019 is open to all UK and Ireland residents who are professional hairdressers aged
18 years and over, who are employed by a commercial salon, or self-employed hairdressers with more than
2. There is no upper age limitation for the competitor, model or assistant in the TrendVision Award 2019.
3. No employee of Coty Inc., its affiliates and subsidiaries (hereinafter defined as

Artist of the Year categories.
8. Only the competitor (whose name is on the online entry form) is eligible to win.
THE SALON
9. The salon that appears on the online entry form will be the salon that the hairdresser must represent in
the Photographic heat, the Regional & Ireland heats, the UK & Ireland final and the International final.
Competing at the International final is only relevant for the Creative Artist of the Year and Color Artist of
the Year categories. Should a competitor leave their employment (i.e. move to a different salon) during any
stage of the competition, they will lose their right to compete. In the case of withdrawal of a competitor, the
salon loses the right to compete.

THE COMPETITION
10. UK & Ireland final will be taking place on 30th September 2019 at the Roundhouse in London. Travel and
costs incurred will
11. Please note that the competitor should create their final model look in their chosen category on the day
of the competition within the competition time limit using Wella Professionals products. Competitor should
take their inspiration from a variety of sources including the Wella Professionals collection, art, photography
and fashion.
12. Please note that competition time limit varies depending on the category:
Creative Artist of the Year Category 90 minutes
Color Artist of the Year Category 120 minutes (3 hours)
Male Grooming Category 90 minutes
Runway (Long Hair) Category 90 minutes
Competitors will be alerted when there is 5 minutes of the competition remaining.
Competitors are expected to complete styling, finishing, clothes styling and make-up within the competition
time limit. Please note, the model can be dressed and base make-up can be applied prior to the competition.
Base make-up includes foundation and blusher but excludes lip and eye make-up as well as false eyelashes.

13. The model must arrive with clean hair, as there will be no facilities for shampooing during the
competition. For haircut and styling models the hair must be sprayed wet before the competition commences
(Color Artist of the Year, Male Grooming and cut and styling models in Creative Artist of the Year). For hair
dressing and styling models the hair must be dry and in its natural state with no styling products previously
applied before the competition commences (Runway category and hair up models in the Creative Artist of
the Year category). There should be no hair up work in the Color Artist of the Year or Male Grooming
category.
14. After the competition time runs out, each competitor will be expected to present their model and give
an overview to the Judges on the finished look. The presentation must include the inspiration and
background behind their interpretation.
Please note the competitor must present from their own device or mood board. Promoter will not provide
any additional supporting technical equipment. Their presentation should give details behind the concept of
the total look and include the following depending upon their chosen category:

15. Only the competitor, model and assistant will be allowed in the competition room. No spectators or
guests (including children/babies) will be allowed at the competition during the day. Only the competitor,
model and assistant will be allowed backstage at the evening event. No spectators or guests (including
children/babies) will be allowed in the backstage area.
JUDGING
16. Please note that the requirements for each category vary from stage to stage (the Photographic heat,
the Regional & Ireland heats, the UK & Ireland final and the International final). Please ensure you refer to
the relevant section of the Rules & Regulations for guidance on the requirements for the category chosen to
enter into. At the UK & Ireland Final an independent judging panel will specifically be looking for and will
mark in the following way for each category:

27. Voting is available across four categories (Creative Artist of the Year, Color Artist of the Year, Male
Grooming and Runway). Only one competitor will in. In the event of a tie, audience will be asked to vote to
select a winner.

2019.
PRIZES
29. The Prizes are confirmed as follows:
